Regular Member hairsearcher Posted August 15, 2011 Regular Member Share Posted August 15, 2011 Hi, I had a HT (4131 grafts) on Aug 12th. Today is 15th Aug. On back of my head, the part which is above the stitch is still numb. Is that normal? If yes how long is it going to take to be normal? My face is swollen like hell too. Senior Member Thehairupthere Posted August 16, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted August 16, 2011 The numbness is normal it will feel very normal on top of your head for several weeks and the back could also last a few weeks. It can take several months for all the sensitivity to return but this is completely normal. The swelling is also unfortunately normal, but has become rare these days due to better medication used during anesthesia. This can last 2-3 days try icing as much as you can and taking an anti inflammatory medication like motrin. I am a consultant for Dr. True and Dr. Dorin. These opinions are my own. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted August 16, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted August 16, 2011 Yes to the above post. I've had numbness last almost 5 months with some of my last transplants. I'm still numb above my donor strip and I'm about 7 weeks post-op now. Just roll with it. Senior Member Louise Posted August 16, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted August 16, 2011 Hi Hairsearcher. Try not to be too concerned about your donor numbness. As Thehairupthere and Aaron1234 have posted.... the numbness is normal and usually temporary. It may take a few weeks - sometimes a few months before full feeling is restored. At 3 days post-op the swelling that you are experiencing is also normal. Post-op swelling usually peaks on the 3rd-4th day and then begins to subside. You may notice more swelling tomorrow - but there is good news - the swelling will start to go down shortly and you will look and feel more like yourself soon. I hope this helps.
