Senior Member TakingThePlunge Posted July 10, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted July 10, 2011 hairsearcher, This question comes up every once in a while. Receiving donor grafts from another individual would require that the patient take the same potent and potentially harmful anti-rejection drugs that an organ recipient must take. This risk is simply too great for a non-life threatening condition such as hair loss. The exception to this rule is identical twins. In theory they can share grafts although I don't know if this has ever been attempted. All the best, David - Former Forum Co-Moderator and Editorial Assistant I am not a medical professional. Senior Member bonkerstonker Posted July 10, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted July 10, 2011 A twin would be likely to be balding too so pointless to ever find out. Yeah, I can't imagine a scenario where one twin is on his deathbed and the other says, "sorry you had that accident bro, but can I have your donor hair?" David - Former Forum Co-Moderator and Editorial Assistant I am not a medical professional. Senior Member bonkerstonker Posted July 11, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted July 11, 2011 Ha ha it's worth a go though mate. I'd give my twin my hair on my death bed but he'd probably have to have a transplant just before I died I don't think they could freeze the follicles.
