Regular Member Thanos60 Posted May 10, 2011 Regular Member Share Posted May 10, 2011 After a HT, if you're getting decent growth, how do you go about continuing to maintain your hair and preventing future hair loss in other areas? Obviously you want to say on Proscar/Propecia, but should you still use Minoxidil in the transplanted hair region or only other areas (since transplanted hairs and now permanent, does minoxidil matter?) I guess an ultimate concern of mine would be is prevent future hair loss in other areas, otherwise you would just end up chasing your losses with more HT's. What's the best course of action here? Senior Member RCWest Posted May 11, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted May 11, 2011 Stay on the Finasteride as you said, but only use the minoxidil on non transplanted areas. Use minoxidil in the transplanted area until it is growing in nicely, but after that it's just a waste. In my opinion it's a good idea to also use Nizoral every 3-4 days and take a good multi vitamin with plenty of Biotin or a good "hair" vitamin like Walmart sells. It has Biotin, Choline, Inositol, Vitamins A and C, etc. Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily Avodart 0.5 mg. daily Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily 5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily Biotin 1000 mcg daily Multi Vitamin daily Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1? Senior Member TakingThePlunge Posted May 11, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted May 11, 2011 Thanos60, I follow the same regimen that RCWest advised. Beyond finasteride, minoxidil and Nizoral, there isn't anything else you can do medically that's proven to work. Vitamins are a nice complement to the routine. Best of luck!
