Senior Member corvettester Posted May 6, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted May 6, 2011 Is pitting and dimpling inevitable, even if it's only minor pitting? If an HT patient ends up with pitting, does it necessarily indicate a poorly executed HT? Can pitting even be due to physiological reasons? I'm basically trying to figure out how common pitting really is and if it's realistic to expect zero pitting and dimpling? Dr. Glenn Charles
Pitting is definetly not inevitable. In fact it is not very common at all. It did occur more often in the past when larger recipients and bigger grafts were used. Pitting can be a result of poor technique but in some rare cases may occur even when proper techniques are used.
