Senior Member akuma Posted March 18, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted March 18, 2011 (edited) Hi guys. I got a beard transplant along with my hair transplant. Just fixed up symmetry issues from both sides of the face. I got the procedure done on 8th of March. About 10 days ago. On sunday 13th march i trimmed all beard hair carefully with electronic trimmer (close to it looking shaven but not fully). Today, 18th march i've noticed that my transplanted beard hair has grown along with the rest of the beard. About 2 millimeters. Its obvious. I thought when hairs are transplanted, they stop their growth, and then fall out within 2 weeks to a month. And then start growing after 3-4 months? But i never thought they'd grow right away? Or will they still fall out within 1 month even though they grew? I hope they continue to grow. My scalp transplanted hair seems a little longer as well. Maybe 0.5 millimeter. Or maybe i am just imagining things with the scalp one. heheh But my beard one DEFINITELY grew. Edited March 18, 2011 by akuma
Regular Member Vincent Posted March 18, 2011 Regular Member Share Posted March 18, 2011 All of my transplanted hairs have grown about 50% in length within 4 weeks now and also shedding quite quickly at the same time. So yes I think it does still grow until it sheds off. Click to see my hair loss blog
Senior Member rws Posted March 18, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted March 18, 2011 Same here, my grafts started growing straight away - a bit slower than the native hair at first - and then started shedding around week 5. So it sounds normal!
Senior Member Jotronic Posted March 18, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted March 18, 2011 While it could be growing I'm more inclined to believe that instead of growing the hairs are simply working their way out of the scalp until they fall out. The hairs are between 3mm and 5mm deep when placed so as they work their way out it is logical to assume they are still growing. Perhaps it is a combination of both? Regardless, it's fun to watch them get longer before they fall out as it can serve as a small preview of things to come.
