Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted November 30, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted November 30, 2010 We did 750 FUEs on this plugged out fellow early this year. He'd had something like 12 plug cases done and opted for FUE over my usual strip--scar improvement. I felt it was a bit dicey, as the area being FUE'd was hardly virgin scalp. Nevertheless, he grew in quite well and has a great hairline. Pictures at the day of surgery, about 5 months, and at 9 months are shown. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA William H. Senior Member TakingThePlunge Posted December 1, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted December 1, 2010 Dr. Lindsey, Great job! You've really transformed this patient's hairline. It looks perfectly natural and undetectable now. David - Former Forum Co-Moderator and Editorial Assistant I am not a medical professional. Senior Member omy Posted December 1, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted December 1, 2010 Dr.Lindsey the hairline improvement is excellent . Is it harder to place the grafts near big plugs due to scar tissue ?

Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted December 7, 2010 Author Regular Member Share Posted December 7, 2010 OMY not at all. we do a fair number of plug repairs and almost never is surrounding scar tissue an issue that requires either making larger slits, OR real concern that there is insufficient blood supply for graft growth. now, if you consider placing in thick keloidal tissue in donor scars, i'd say that its a problem 50% of the time....if not more. really the only issue with scar tissue in these plug repair guys is that the scar tissue around the sensory nerves makes it a bit harder to numb them up; and about 25% of the time i need to do a supraorbital nerve block, which itself hurts a little bit.
