Regular Member gattaca Posted November 27, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted November 27, 2010 (edited) Hi everyone! i started losing my hair at around 21. It wasnt terrible and the last few years toppik has carried me well. a life saver, although i coudl tell girlfriends iv been with knew that i was putting "stuff" in my hair.. but i pertended no one noticed lol. Iv done a lot of research on Dr. Rahal and his before and afters are amazing. so i wanted to start a blog about my experience and progress over the next 6 to 12 months. im still in canada and will be flying back home soon. the experience here was overall great! im staying at foxbar guest house. its a 4 minute walk to the clinic. very comfy and homey. the staff at Dr. Rahal office are amazingly sweet and caring people. Adrian really guided me in the months leading up to the surgery. Not once did he push me or was anything but a gentlman. I did my blood test paid and flew in for the surgery. i hadnt realised how much my hair had thinned out since may when i first had sent in my pictures. seeing my hair without toppik in close really made me upset but Dr. Rahal assured me that we could acieve great results. He was very confident and knew what he was doing. the surgical techs were very sweet and kept asking me if i was in any pain. at anytime i did start to feel a little bit of pain Dr. Rahal quickly injected me with the numbing stuff. i honestly didnt feel much of anything during the procedure. in fact i was so calm and relaxed that i didnt even watch any movies. just listened to music and enjoyed a nice conversation with the techs. the first night i have to admit i did have a bit of pain and didnt sleep very well but mike a tech who works there gaved me his cell phone number and for me to call him at anytime! i took advantage of that at around 7 30 at night and he guided me and with the right dose of medication the pain become very managable. i didnt sleep very much during the first night but did fall asleep early morning. mostly due to the angle you have to sleep it which i was not used to. today is the next day and i dont feel any pain at all. im comfy as can be. The hairline that dr. rahal drew for me and where the grafts are look spot on. i had an amazing experience and cant wait for the coming months! i will be starting a blog and will get my pre op pics from adrian and take after pictures to show my results. please feel free to email me any questions that you might have. Thank you for reading my thread and i will update this thread with my blog and with pictures pre op post up 4 6 8 and 12 month pictures. im really thinking about going on propecia to save my own pre op hair but last time i took propecia for a month i had sexual side affects. but i only gaved it a month. should i restart agian? ethan Edited November 27, 2010 by gattaca

Regular Member BillyJ Posted November 27, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted November 27, 2010 Ethan, Good to hear you've had a good experience with the whole process. Having viewed Dr Rahal's work on this site many times and his impressive results I'm confident in saying you should expect a good outcome. I too had surgery in Canada with Dr Wong six months ago and enjoyed the whole experience. I can remember immediately post op being thrilled at seeing a hairline outlined. Do hope everything goes well from here on in. It will take time as I'm sure you know and as the old saying goes patience is a virtue - even though it can be damn hard at times to be virtuous. One other thing, I'm no expert but not sure if being on Propecia for a month would have such an almost immediate effect. I've been on Propecia, now Fin, for 9 months without any discernable effects. I appreciate we are all different but would suggest, if not already done so, you investigate further. Regards. Regular Member Ozguy Posted November 27, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted November 27, 2010 Hi Ethan, it's great to read your feedback on Dr Rahal and Foxbar house as I am booked in for an approximate 3,500 graft transplant in just over two weeks. I am very nervous and it's always reassuring to hear other patients having positive experiences. Cheers, Justin
Senior Member trapps99 Posted November 27, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted November 27, 2010 Glad to hear the experience went well!! I too am going to Dr Rahal so the feedback is reassuring.. As for the propecia, Ihad the same side effects, lower libido. Its a personal choice, i really cant see going through life with a lowered sex drive,,,,its just not worth it. If that side effect is very noticible id lower the dose or stop altogether and maybe just use some rogaine...
Senior Member mattj Posted November 27, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted November 27, 2010 I'm glad you had a good experience and look forward to following your progress. As trapps99 said, you may want to try a lower dose of Propecia to see if you tolerate it better than the full dose. It's worth trying. Did you have Foxbar all to yourself? Im almost at the 1 month post up and most of the transplanted hairs have fallen out. I guess this is the ugly duckling part of the process. Im keeping good faith and im excited about a new hairline. JULY will be my 8th month mark and i will diff get better camera to document my experience and results. If any one has any questions about my procedure with Dr, Rahal or experience. Feel free to pm me. Edited April 19, 2011 by gattaca
