Senior Member Spanker Posted November 3, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted November 3, 2010 What medications, if any, work against propecia? In addition, what medications, if any, can cause poor results in HT's. I know I have read that smoking can reduce your results but was wondering if there was anything else. Senior Member waveskier Posted November 3, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted November 3, 2010 Not sure about what drugs in general, but I would imagine that HRT drugs such as Testosterone and most body building drugs would be bad for HT or hair overall. Senior Member Michael5577 Posted November 4, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted November 4, 2010 I believe anti-acne antibiotics can make your hair fall out. So can many antidepressants.
Senior Member RCWest Posted November 5, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted November 5, 2010 Many anti seizure meds like carbamazepine and oxcarbazepine, blood pressure and heart rate meds like lisinopril and atenolol, some acne meds like accutane (for sure!), among many many others. Heres a starting point Acne medications containing vitamin A (retinoids) Antibiotics and antifungal drugs Antidepressants Birth control pills Anticlotting drugs Cholesterol-lowering drugs Drugs that suppress the immune system Drugs that treat breast cancer Epilepsy drugs (anticonvulsants) High blood pressure medications (anti-hypertensives), such as beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, and diuretics Hormone replacement therapy Mood stabilizers Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) Parkinson's disease drugs Steroids Thyroid medications Weight loss drugs Also, smoking drastically reduces bloodflow in the scalp (I read 30 percent somewhere). Plus it ages you and is hard on the skin/complexion. Hope that helps! Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily Avodart 0.5 mg. daily Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily 5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily Biotin 1000 mcg daily Multi Vitamin daily Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1?
