hi guys ,

i am 24 years old from India , for past 4 year i am loosing my hair with a terrible itching in my scalp all over my crown and front where hair density became low . First i thought my hair loss is due to dandruff and went to dermatologist and he prescribed many medicines but nothing worked ,those medicine which he prescribed will give temporary relief that too hair will be falling simultaneously , but after few days it will again start itching all over my scalp except sides and back . For hair loss i am taking finasteride and also i am using Nizoral sampoo but no difference same terrible itching . I am not using Minoxidil so the itching is not "minoxidil burn"

so guys please give tell me the reason why i am getting this kind of itching all over the scalp except in sides and back for past 4 years . None of them in my place is good to give me the correct solution , that is why i am posting it here and i hope here all are expert and will give the correct medicine for my itching

help me in

1. giving me the best medicine for the itching .

2. what is scalp inflammation ?

3. whether DHT can cause this terrible itching ?

please help me gusy , i am suffering and dying like anything :(:(:(:(:(:(:(

thanks in advance

You are suffering from Scalp inflammation....Or its possible you have demodex. DHT shouldn't be a issue if you're taken niz and fin. It could be a variety of things.

From first hand experience resveratrol + Curcumin synergistically is good for inflammatory responses and should help your scalp. It neutralizes neurogenic inflammation

This is a good shampoo for fungal, inflammation, and dandruff. So it should help

1.Curcumin is of course Turmeric. Isn't india where that stuff comes from? You can buy the stuff online at multiple places. Like Iherb

2. Its internal so its in pill form

3- I don't know much about those other things. They may help but probably won't cure it.

You can use both. Use Nizoral once or twice a week and then your choice of shampoo the rest of the days Preferably SLS free.

thank you very much for your information Swimmy , i am going to order the medicine which you have prescreibed my doubts are cleared . But please make me clear these things

1. the infection and itching on my scalp is only on front and crown not in sides and back , so i am confused how this resveratrol + Curcumin oral pills will give exact solution to my affected scalp ?

2. my point on this itching in my head may be due to DHT ,because i am using finasteride and nizorol only for one and a half months , so i think this period of usage is not enough to stop the DHT effect in itching , may be it will take some time to cure the DHT infection . This is the thought running in my mind but i don't know its true or not , please tell me whether my guess is correct or not ? :(:(:(

3. the medicine that i found in the site url is

these are the infos:

HairSite editorial -

Some people called it scalp inflammation, others called it "minoxidil burn". In any case, this is some kind of scalp conditions characterized by severe itch, redness, excessive flakes and crust etc. This condition is commonly reported by people using Rogaine or topical minoxidil, that's why some people called it "minoxidil burn". It appears that people who are using 5% minoxidil are suffering more from scalp inflammation than those using 2%. Some doctors say that it is the alcohol in Rogaine that is causing the problem whereas others, eg: Dr. Proctor, a hair specialist in the U.S says that it is propylene glycol in Rogaine that is causing the problem. It is unclear why this condition is more prevalent among people who are using 5% topical minoxidil than 2%.

Please note that scalp inflammation can happen even if you are not using Rogaine or topical minoxidil. In fact, there is no scientific study which shows that topical minoxidil is the cause of scalp inflammation. Some people are simply more prone to certain scalp conditions than others. Besides topical minoxidil, Retin-A is also known to be associated with scalp inflammation. Specifically, scalp treated with Retin-A will become vulnerable to sunlight and may develop an inflammatory reactions due to sun's exposure. In addition, some suggested that inflammation may be related to bacterial activity on the scalp. Researchers Young et al. proposed that inflammation is a direct cause of bacteria that inhibits in the hair follicles.

According to Dr. Razack, another hair specialist in the U.S and author of the book "Conquering Hair Loss", many researchers have suggested that scalp inflammation is closely related to hair loss. There was a clinical study conducted by Young et al in 1991 showing that 96% of the participants in the study who have androgenic alopecia have also demostrated some kind of inflammatory response on their scalps. In another study conducted by Abell et al., inflammation was present in over 75% of the scalp biopsies obtained from close to 700 patients with androgenic alopecia.

Personally, I believe that the crustings and flakes on the scalp are the major culprit in scalp inflammation related hair loss. Although both the crustings and flakes are simply dead skin on your scalp, they are responsible for physically pulling my hair off as they are breaking loose from the scalp.

For more in-depth analysis on inflammation and hair loss, a good reference would be the book "Conquering Hair Loss". However, we are not going to get into the technicalities here since what I really want is to talk about the treatments available for scalp inflammation.

Neutrogen T-Gel

I think the first thing that everyone should try is Neutrogen T-Gel. It is the least expensive of all treatments, about US $8 a bottle and virtually any drug store sells it as an over-the-counter shampoo. No prescription is required. Although it doesn't work for everyone, some have repoted good results without having to turn to other more expensive alternatives. So I would definitely give T-Gel a try before anything else. However, not everyone responds to T-Gel. In fact, some, like myself, really dislike the shampoo. It dries up my hair and leaves stains on my scalp.

Nizoral Shampoo

If T-Gel fails, the next thing that I recommend is Nizoral shampoo. It is more expensive than T-Gel and a prescription is required for U.S residents. Nizoral costs well over US $30 for one bottle in New York City and I guarantee you can find a much better deal ordering over the internet. The active ingredient in Nizoral is 2% ketoconazole which in addition to being an anti-fungal agent, is also an antiandrogen and immunosupressant. All these attributes are beneficial to hair growth. Nizoral is intended to be used only once or twice a week. So it is important that you alternate Nizoral with another shampoo for hair loss.

Nizoral Conditioning Shampoo

Many people complain that while Nizoral shampoo works for them, it also makes their hair and scalp dry. In fact, even people who have oily hair and scalp, including myself, complain that Nizoral is too drying for the hair. Good news: Nizoral Conditioning Shampoo is now available. However, it is not widely available in every country at this point (not even in the U.S - to my knowledge) and your best bet is to shop for it on the internet. This is a great shampoo, it works just as well as regular Nizoral shampoo, has the same active ingredient - 2% ketoconazole and does not leave your hair and scalp dry. This one is now on my favorite list. It is slightly more expensive than regular Nizoral shampoo.

Dermovate

If both T-Gel and Nizoral fail, then your last resort is Dermovate, or sometimes called Temovate in North America. It is a topical scalp lotion that is available by prescription only for U.S residents. Dermovate is not cheap. A 50ml bottle costs over US $60 in New York City. However, you are supposed to place only a few drops on affected areas and a 50ml bottle should last you more than two months. The active ingredient in Dermovate is Clobetasol 17-propionate 0.05%, which is a kind of cortisone. Dermovate is extremely effective and it works almost instantaneoulsy. Depending on the severity of your conditions, continuous application for up to six weeks may be required before your scalp is clear of all flakes and crust. Once your conditions have been stablizied, then you use Dermovate only when needed. For those who use Rogaine or topical minoxidil, Dermovate should be applied shortly after you put on Rogaine. Also, for best results, it is highly recommended that you include both Nizoral shampoo and Dermovate in your regimen.

4. now i couldn't able to do any work and couldn't able to concentrate on my studies because of this itching and hair loss ,so please tell me some cream or medicine that can be applied to my scalp to reduce the itching . thank you . waiting for your reply

Where the itch is, is where hair loss occurs. On the top. Usually never on the sides or back. So that's why you aren't getting a itch in those places. Curcumin+resveratrol together have a anti inflammatory properties. This includes every part of your body not just your scalp. It will selectively block the CB1 receptor. Curcumin by itself (downregulates androgen receptor, TGF-Beta), inhibits PLA-2, MMP-9, COX-2, TNF-a. But with Res protects against neurogenic inflammation.

Not sure if its a full solution! It could be a full solution to your inflammation and itching..However, by itself it won't stop MPB. Make sure you order from a good source! Jarrows Curcumin 95 is recommended. Country life or Now foods resvertral are preferred. I ran out of supply on mine two weeks ago and was waiting to reorder. Without it my scalp went inflamed so I know it works for me.

"2. my point on this itching in my head may be due to DHT ,because i am using finasteride and nizorol only for one and a half months , so i think this period of usage is not enough to stop the DHT effect in itching , may be it will take some time to cure the DHT infection . No, that would be plenty of time to see some kind of improved result on your inflammation.

IMO, I wouldn't take any of those things. First cause I don't have a problem with scalp itch or inflammation with what I'm taking. All those things you mention are harsh on your scalp and can dry out your hair. Another thing you might want to try is get a sls free shampoo like i mentioned. Order some DMSO liquid and lithium orotate and add some to your shampoo. Its scientifically shown to be more effective than nizoral and can be used everyday. That will help with the scalp itch and inflammation.

Give it some time. About a month. If none of it works you might want to see a doctor. It could also be possible that you have demodex or some kind of scalp fungus.

It could take about a year on fin to see regrowth. You could try 5% minoxidil.Other than that there are experimental drugs and topicals out there that MAY give regrowth, who knows, and if you have the extra income. You could also try cheaper solutions like Emu oil.

Hey, i'm not sure on the DMSO gel. You'll probably just be better off with the liquid form..never tried the gel. So don't know how that's gonna work. Sometimes the solution can be too high for people with sensitive skin

Per 8 oz bottle

1 tsp of DMSO liquid (99%). If you have sensitive skin use a 50 to 70% solution.

1 & 1/2 teaspoons to 2 teaspoons of crushed Lithium pills (or powder)

Add to your choice of sls free shampoo
