Regular Member Dr. Vito Quatela Posted September 28, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted September 28, 2010 This 47- year-old male patient, who is a hair stylist and salon owner, came to us seeking a hair transplant to create a new frontal hairline. The patient received a total of 1,828 grafts of which 678 were single hair grafts, 941 were two hair grafts and 239 were three hair grafts. The team concentrated on the frontal area creating a new hairline and then filled in the top to create a fuller central tuft. The team used the stick and place method to achieve these results using 19 and 20 gauge needles. Single hair grafts were used to create a natural appearing irregular frontal hairline. The patient was very pleased with his results and has since had another session with follow-up pictures to follow.

Senior Member TakingThePlunge Posted October 8, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted October 8, 2010 Dr. Quatela, Thank you for sharing this case! This patient's results are fantastic considering the small number of grafts he received. I look forward to seeing the photos of his latest procedure. Senior Member Mercury Posted October 11, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted October 11, 2010 Very nice result with a small number of grafts. He must have very nice thick hair to get that result. You mention that the "team used the stick and place method to achieve these results using 19 and 20 gauge needles." I have two questions - does that mean that you make the holes where the hairs go and they stick the hairs in? Also what is a 19 gauge and 20 gauge needle? Just trying to learn.
