  1. HEllo Rogaine here in Canada 2% costs about $ 60.00 dollars ....a certain Drug Store here provides its own brand name "rexall" with 2% minoxidial for $ 60.00 and you get 2 bottles of 30ml vs only 1 from Rogaine ....so half / price. I am wondering if I would be comprimising anything with going with the generic brand Your thoughts? thanks
  2. i took the photo with a blackberry camera....didnt know how to upload the pic where it says the URL http://www.................... so I attached it as a jpeg. will take a few photos and post later in the week.... thanks
  3. Here you go..just taken.......6 months .....I could have used another 1500 grafts ...but I had a budget.......slightly under 2400 grafts in the front
  4. Hello All My 2 cents - almost went with a Dr not reccomended here last year in Ontario, glad I didnt, glad I found this board before booking,,,,,,,,,, I went with Simmons reasons: 1) I live close to Toronto - dont want to travel if I dont have to- if there is a problem I would have a large expense to go fly and what would the Dr do but maybe do a touch up...Going with Rahual or h&W dosent gurantee great results - recent post of a indivuudal that received 6000 grafts with sub par results 2) Simmons is professional - non pushy 3) yes limited reviews of him but all good 4) Price was good , 5) the whole experience was great , I was sweating when I went in that morning, but with medication I felt great , watched about 5 movies , was talking , had a great sleep the first night , I am sure with the aid of the sleeping pills , he dosent shave the area..no staples .....that was a consideration dont want to look like a clown with my head shaved or staples -----2 schools of thought on this ... I am sure both are good I had less then 2500 grafts ....how if one is needing more work done like 3500+ grafts then I concur that possibly Rahul and H&W may be better choices because of there experiece in this area for mega sessions first time around I am 6 months out , my kids say my hair looks better, My wife a hair stylist when I asked her my hair now out of 10 she said 8 / 10....I asked her what would you say it was before , about a 4 ............was it worth it .....YES.....I am 42 and look about 10 years yonger now
  5. my thoughts, if you look good with a shaved head , then dont get a HT. Look at the "rock" or Vin Diesel...they both look cool with the shaved look...for me , I look better with hair , I would be a NW3a with some indication of NW5....so my HT is looking good .....if I was a NW6+ I would then keep it very short ...maybe a hair piece but I personally woundt do the HT route ...........I think its a call you got make , based on your head shape etc....
  6. Hello All Had me HT end of Nov last year - up to 4 months no real difference - had some shedding as well - after a week of the HT I started using Rogaine, still do ........at 41/2 months my wife comments that my hair is looking way better....I am now at 5 months - I think my hair looks better .....my wife says it looks way better....It was so old man looking before the HT she said ...I ask my kids they say it looks way better ..yes my kids know ..... So at 5 months I am happy with the results .........I had about 2400 FUT in the front...... 1) can I peek at 5 months? and see no more growth? or will I even get more growth and thickening? I guess everyone is different.....
  7. just thought I would share what was said to me today ......close to 5 months out from HT had a neighbhor say that she loves my new haircut it makes me look 5 years younger ..little does she know my secret ....yes folks this is what you can expect to start hearing --------
  8. The safe hair areas on the sides and back of my dad's head are so thin , that if I have his thinning when I get to my 70's the scar will show somewhat ......I guess by the time I am that age I will have other things to worry about all over my body and head then a scar on my head
  9. hey just went on Nioxins website and did a search Can Minoxidil and NIOXIN® be used together? Individuals using products containing Minoxidil may use NIOXIN Cleanser™ and NIOXIN Scalp Therapy™, NIOXIN® Hair Masques and NIOXIN® styling products. However, it is not recommended to use Scalp Treatment or Follicle Booster® in conjunction with the use of the minoxidil. Can an individual use NIOXIN® products at the same time as Propecia* or Rogaine*? Yes. NIOXIN® products are applied to help improve the scalp environment to address the appearance of thinning hair and may be used simultaneously with Propecia. We do not recommend any NIOXIN® Treatments with Rogaine. *Propecia is a registered trademark and product of Merck & Co. Inc. *Rogaine is a registered trademark and product of McNeil-PPC Inc. Its funny that I didnt use their treatment after using Rogaine and there website says the same
  10. I have been using Nioxin for over 13 years , after my HT last fall I still use the Nioxin Shampoo and Conditioner but have stopped using the 3rd step the Treament and have replaced it with the Rogaine..............in my mind I thought the Treament and Rogaine would conflict ..but I dont have any information supoorting it either way
  11. Hey I had my procedure last fall with Dr Simmons , no pain, the whole experience went well.. glad I picked him....only 2 months out so cant comment on the results ......but I do feel you wont regret going with this Dr ....
  12. hello Sweaterhead, I went with Dr Cam Simmons in Toronto, After going to Dr Jones for a consult last fall was ready to book a date but being in technology I went on the internet found this discussion board , looked for good feedback on Ontario Dr's , met with Dr Simmons , he took alot of time in the consult to come up with a plan . etc.......as you likley know in the next few weeks you may feel a few things like ltchness, pimples, shockloss etc . My self I didnt have that many pimples , 1 or 2 at a time that were small......A lot of itchness ( perhaps with the dry winter weather ), some shockloss , " , growth starts around the 4th month forward . Right now my head feels "normal", feels like my hair is getting thicker.....
  13. I think most Dr's that perform hair transplants full time are going to give consist good results. I dont think a hair transplant Dr wakes up in the morning thinking they are going to go to work today and perform the worse hair transplant possible . We live in the information age and IF a Dr dosent give it his or her best shot every day their reputation can and will be harmed. I sell to the medical field and I know not all Dr's are created equal some are better then others . People including Dr's are motivated by different things , Some Dr's its about the money, others want to give the best possible care to their patients as possible, costs are not as important , others want to use only tryed and proven methods . So as many posters have commented in chosing a Dr , its what makes you comfortable . On my recent hair procdure journey I went to see Dr Jones First , hearing the radio ads and going to his website and seeing he was on the news etc .....I found him to be business motivated first and Dr second , can he get great results ? I am sure he can ...To Sweaterhead - the way you described the procedure is typical , Dr's want to get paid weeks in advance , Dr is in out of the room as the techs do the graft placement , the price is in the range , perhaps a bit on the high side , you were there to 8:00pm meaning you likely got well over 3000 grafts ....I think alot has to do with what the patients expectations are as to how they view the Dr afterwards ......................all in all you should be fine .....I am sure every DR even the very best will have a percentage of patients that the results are not the greatest ......my 2 cents ...hope it puts you at ease ...I am 2 months out ..hope to see good results in the upcoming months

  15. Hey I had my procedure with Dr Simmons almost a month now on Nov 26th 2200+ Grafts - I was explained 2 plans by the DR 1) spread out the grafts over the whole thinning area and have about 25/cm ( would look thin the whole area) or plan 2 - give the front a finished look - that is what I went for - the choice was mine - I want to comment, that with the feedback on this board I decided to meet with Dr Simmons, found him professional along with his staff , I felt confident in going with him ,the procedure was comfortable , Dr Simmons was always available if I needed a top up of meds and to check on my progress - I would reccomend anyone to meet with Dr Simmons, for his level of professionalism , quality of work and great followup ,I even got more grafts then I paid for and the pricing was reasonable .....
  16. I look forward to putting in the Rogaine , you will find after a couple of weeks you will feel no more pain but you will likely get alot of itchness, the scar, the receipent area and even my crown for some reason, could also be the fact that I wash my hair almost everyday now , being winter could be the dryness causing the itcheness and because of the healing ..........glad to have gone with a hair transplant too, almost a month out now ...2400 grafts , can never have enough grafts
  17. good news - shoppers drup mart in the city had stock.....$ 60.00 + for 60ml ....all is well ...alot of the drug stores were out of stock
  18. Hello HAs anyone else noticed that Rogaine is out of stock everywhere . I am located in Ontario Canada. Does anyone know the reason? I am told it may be availalble end of Dec / early Jan ......

  20. Hey - looks great - question is your Avator pciture from 2007?
  21. Hello all what would you reccomend , perhaps both ? I dont like the idea of taking a pill that may have side effects , even though the Dr said I could split each pill into 4 pieces and take a 90 day supply and stretch it to a year ........Something I apply like Rogaine since its extrenal may not have the side effects but what is going to work potentially better.......also any shampoos you would reccomend ? I have been using Nioxin , I feel that is may have subdued the hair loss, but some say there is no clinical proof ------ Having my Hair transplant procedure in 3 weeks ------
  22. that makes sense , for a 2000 graft procedure , can any Dr's tell me the size of the strip that is taken? ( length / width) thanks
  23. thats a very good point , i will have to ask the Dr that I choose if I will be able to cover the work with my exisiting hair until the hairs start growing , since I plan to go to work 2 days after the procedure , I am in sales and will have to visit client s
