billyjoe
Hello all, im a newbie to the forum and my mind is already boggled with info on different treatments, medicine and supplements to combat hair loss!!! I am 28 and my hairlines has been sneakily receding aver the past year or two but im determined to combat it! My dad is bald but he went from the back as opposed to the fron so this gives me some hope at least!! I have done just a few months research before deciding on my own course of action of which i have chosen to do two things: laser comb wellman trilogic tablets (promotional link removed) I was ging to go propecia but i didnt like the thought of side effects etc. and although there is now alot of negative info around on the laser comb i got one cheap enough on ebay and decided to try it. been using both just a few weeks.. though after reading becools thread on the forum its easy to get bogged down with many different things to try! I guess im asking for you opinion on my course of action, you's all seem to have a great indepth knowledge of all courses of action and supplements out there so i will take all on board. Lastly i noticed one of the doctors on here wrote on a thread blasting the laser comb that genetic hairloss is genetic and therefore cannot be reversed.. does this generally mean that we are wasting our time in trying and we aint going to be able to change it anyway?? thanks in adavance, billyjoe
billyjoe
17views and no posts!! i guess im just looking to know if anyone has any knowledge of the wellmans product im using?? and secondly is there anyone on here that has used the hairmax lasercomb and reckon they had posistive results with it?? Im really not one for sitting three times a week and running a bloody comb with five led lights through my hair, but if people have had results i would feel more optimistic! cheers
Senior Member waveskier Posted September 12, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted September 12, 2010 Honestly after hearing about all the issues with propecia I just don't think it is worth it. Not to mention that it messes with the ole sex drive, but some people say they have lost hair using it. My motto, "if in doubt DON't"
Senior Member Sean Posted September 12, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted September 12, 2010 From what many people have told me, the laser on the scalp thing, it does not work and it is a waste of money. There is a video some hair transplant doctor did that spoke of this issue. He showed it using tissue and explained it so well that I am not messing with lasers. As for propecia, it is scientifically proven to stop hairloss and so is rogaine. I would definitely give it a shot, but if your concerned about sex drive you can take pills like levitra or something. If you deem your hair to be very important then you might as well take it after speaking to a doctor. Those remedies can buy you time, until they come up with something else. I mean look at where hair transplants were 20 years ago and look at them now, there is a lot of improvement, and new ways to do them.
Senior Member TakingThePlunge Posted September 12, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted September 12, 2010 billyjoe, At this point in time, the only two non-surgical treatments for male hair loss that are clinically proven and FDA approved are Propecia (finasteride) and Rogaine (minoxidil) In my opinion, the laser comb is not likely to produce a noticeable, aesthetic improvement. If you have a history of balding in your family I would definitely begin both of these treatments and continue to use them daily until the day that a better option becomes available. Best of luck! Senior Member haircut Posted September 12, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted September 12, 2010 Dr. Don Shapiro told me that he thinks that the laser comb works at the fringes, not for major growth. In other words, it should be used in addition to other treatments like Rogaine and Proscar as well as HT is needed.
