Proscar question

Hi guys

 

I have a proscar question. I got a prescription for Proscar and picked it up from CVS pharmacy. However, after a week i noticed that the bottle says Generic for: Proscar 5mg Tablet. I paid $83 for 30 tablets

 

I am a little confused as i thought proscar was generic for Procecia. Can you please tell me what your bottles say? Are you guys taking proscar or generic proscar.

Proscar is a name brand drug with 5mg of finasteride as opposed to Propecia which only contains 1mg. Taking generic Proscar is just fine however, make sure you're splitting the tablet into quarters with a pill splitter and only taking 1/4 tablet daily. Taking one whole pill daily is definitely too much to treat hair loss.

Thanks for the quick reponse Bill. I am not sure why they gave me generic proscar. Is regular proscar more expensive? Also, what finasteride are you taking? Do you know if cutting the pill into quarters gives even distribution of the tablet..
