Regular Member Movsar Posted April 27, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted April 27, 2010 Just a question to those who have had successful hair surgery (and to those who perform the surgery!)...is there a limit to how short you can keep your hair? From seeing pictures of people who have HT, it seems that nearly everyone of them has long(ish) hair afterwards but is it possible to keep you hair short - say about blade 6 or 7? I think blade 6-7 is long enough to cover any scar but does keeping it that short reveal more bald patches or roughness? Put a picture in to show what hair length i mean
Senior Member Sparky Posted April 27, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted April 27, 2010 I think I could get away with having my hair as short as Christian Bale's. However thick the scar is, times it by ten and thats how long your hair should be. That formula probably changes as it gets much longer though. Senior Member TakingThePlunge Posted April 27, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted April 27, 2010 I normally get my hair cut (sides and back) with a #3 clip and the scar is completely invisible. Once I tried a #2 and it could be seen at that length. David - Former Forum Co-Moderator and Editorial Assistant I am not a medical professional. Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted April 27, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted April 27, 2010 Movsar, Sparky and TakingThePlunge both gave excellent advice. I would definitely value their first-hand knowledge. I also wanted to share a photo album (here) from Dr Dorin and Dr True. The album presents a few, excellent examples of shorter hair with a standard follicular unit transplant closure and a trichophytic follicular unit transplant closure. Good luck! Senior Member Sparky Posted April 27, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted April 27, 2010 Those pics just wind me up, because my scar sucks in comparison. My Hairloss Website http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=2198

Bill - Seemiller
After 4 procedures, I can still wear my hair at a 4 clip on the sides and get away with wearing it pretty short on top without it appearing overly thin. Not bad for a former Norwood 6 :-)
Regular Member Movsar Posted May 3, 2010 Author Regular Member Share Posted May 3, 2010 unfortunately ive been told by more than one company that im not a ideal candidate for ht so i guess i wont be having blade 6 or 7 cuts for the rest of my life - but am considering the hair tattoo replication thing which may enable me to keep a balde one to two cut without any patches - not ideally what i wanted but beggars cant be chosers!
