Senior Member hoose Posted August 20, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted August 20, 2007 I start school in the fall, classes monday, tuesday, wednesday; if I had surgery on a thursday 1500 grafts, could I wear a baseball cap to class on monday and be OK as far as not damaging grafts and avoiding detection; also, would the swelling be gone by then? I've heard the swelling can sometimes linger until day 5-6 post op. Thanks
Senior Member TomA Posted August 20, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted August 20, 2007 Almost certainly. My Doc told me to wear a hat home after surgery. It just needs to fit loosely on the top. If you are concerned about facial swelling, talk to your doc about wearing an elastic headband for a few days after surgery. My Doc gives everyone a headband, and it worked like a charm. He told me that he has almost no instances of facial swelling anymore. In my case, I had swelling above the band, but it never migrated to my face. I wore a hat over the band... -- 1st HT with Dr. Damkerng Pathomvanich, Bangkok, Thailand - 18 JUL 07 - 3300 grafts (FUT) - US$6,930 2st HT with Dr. Pathuri Madhu, Hyderabad, India - 31 JUL 10 - 2249 grafts (FUT) - US$2,200 3rd HT with Dr. Pathuri Madhu, Hyderabad, India - 26 JUL 11 - 320 grafts (FUE) touch up - US$0 My Hair Loss Weblog My opinions are my own. Bill - Seemiller
dhoose75, You can wear a loose fitting hat for the first 10 days post op if you are very careful. After that, you are safe to wear pretty much anything you want! Facial swelling only lasts for a few days and is typically finished by the 7th day.
