Regular Member beanz Posted September 20, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted September 20, 2008 I've been on Propecia for 3 years; however, I think the drug is loosing its effectiveness. Out of desperation I visited a general practitioner who prescribed me Avodart. The clinical studies that are available on-line with regards to using Avodart to treat androgenic alopecia indicate that test subjects were administered 2.5 mg of Avodart. This is well above the .5mg that is recommended to treat an enlarged prostate. Would taking 2mg of Avodart every 3 days and 1.25 mg of Finasteride on the days in between be an effective strategy? Bill - Seemiller
beanz, 2.5 mg of dudasteride is a lot if taken daily. Most physicians recommend .5mg for hair loss sufferers daily. Remember that dudasteride isn't FDA approved for hair loss to date. So there is some conjecture as to how much is needed and safe. Best wishes, Bill
