spummerr
Can a friend donate hair to me for a transplant? He has a full head and very similiar hair. Wondering if others have done this?
Bill - Seemiller
spummerr, I'm sorry to say that this is not possible. I believe experiments were conducted at one time, but it has been found that the transplanted hair does not grow when donor hair is borrowed from another patient. The body rejects it, similarly as to how a body might reject a transplanted organ. The only possibility of this working might be if you borrowed donor hair from an identical twin. Of course, since he / she would have the same hair loss pattern as you, they would most likely want to use their donor hair for their very own hair transplant. Best wishes, Bill
Regular Member fusion47 Posted August 8, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted August 8, 2008 Ha! I wondered this same thing back in 2002 during a consultation with Bosley. My mom, who attended with me, said..."you can have some of my hair!" kind of half seriously. The Bosley rep stroked his chin, intrigued. Eek.
