What are these doctors names rach? I read on another forum site and Dr. Greco said he has performed over 300 prp treatments, also i know I was Dr. Fellers 40th PRP patient.. I asked him how many of his patients had experienced good results? I believe he said 7 or so have contacted him, the rest have not said anything and he was reluctant to get in touch with them by phone because he didnt his family may not know they had undergone a treatment.. but i havnt heard of anyone bashing prp as far as saying they got no results. Tho I know greco has said that it doesn't work for everyone..

Here is my email and reply from dr. greco from a few weeks ago, I have sent him another email about pics and what not so hopefully he will respond to that soon:

Dr. Greco, I just had a few minor questions about scheduling a PRP treatment session.

1. What airport/city do out of town patients who have to travel via airfare fly into? Do you know what a typical cab fare might be to your office might be from there?

2. How much do you charge for single treatment?

3. I see that your PRP differs from Dr. Feller's in two ways. One, he uses individual needle pricks instead of a roller, saying that actually puncturing the skin gives a better result than just irritating it, and two, he waits until the prp is inside the dermis before activating it, saying that that way it won't get diluted and will just makes more sense to him. Do you have any thoughts on this?

4. Finally, do you have any pics of your prp patients you would be willing to send with their results, I can only see two on your weblog and figure you must have many more. Just need to justify flying out and spending the kind of money I would be by seeing a few results.

Thanks!! Look forward to hearing from you.

GRECO:

Thanks for email. While I'm on the road please excuse by reply format. Tampa airport. Most patients fly in and out the same day. Cabs $20,

800 for PRP and 1K foe Orogen Plus or PRP with the protein matrix.

For the past two and half years we have tried all different techniques and we teach activating after or when injecting the GM's into the scalp because one of my partners did studies at Tuffs University and found we can reduce EFG by 40 percent. We stimulate with a roller because it creates more incisions and a more even distribution of stimulation. PRP is then injected throughout the scalp and activated. A light layer of PRP is kept on the scalp over night.

We do things based on our studies and experience with PRP. Two of my partners have PRP numerous patents ever 30k PRP cases. I have been in hair 25 years and using PRP 12 years so I think we can speak with some authority based on our clinical experiences.

It is humerous to hear how new techniques are superior when we developed this therapy in hundreds of cases over past few years and others have been doing this only a few months. I respect forward thinking and encourage continued contributions by hair specialists but don't say a technique is superior until you see results more than a few months.

Just posted a female on mu blog. I can have you speak with patients. We are having very nice results.

Thanks HD for your interest

Best

hdude46,

My PRP was done by Greco and I had the Orogen Plus. I'm hopeful that Greco was ethical during his evaluation of me and only performed PRP because I am a candidate.

Despite having 4 HT's, as I mentioned previously, I have always shed more hair than usual. My battle with hair loss has been constant but as you can see by my pic, I have stayed ahead of the curve. I say that to say this...I'd like to think I am a candidate for PRP in that despite my 4 HT's, I'm still fighting to keep all that I have. That means that much of my nontransplanted hair is contantly fighting miniaturization. I can honestly say that without meds and hopefully PRP, my transplants would be quite evident and I would need additional work to complete a good look. As a diffuse thinner, my transplants were spread throughout the thinning area on an on-going basis so I have been able to always have the appearance of limited hair loss.

As with most of us, I keep a watchful eye on my hair loss. Therefore, I am in a good position to determine of I have success with PRP or not. But for now, I am only seven weeks post-treatment and had quit all other therapies cold turkey for about 8 weeks before recently returning to a smaller dosing scale. Just my personal thoughts and experiences.

I'm debating on going to Dr. Greco as well. He is a short flight away from me compared to some local and respected H/T surgeons. But he seems to be most experienced with it since he has been performing it the longest.

Can elaborate your experience with him and the procedure? Thanks

Also curious how many grafts in total did you get after 4 transplants?

brentipold,

I restarted my medication because I feel I am losing ground...shedding more than usual. I was on Finasteride for more than 10 years and quit cold turkey. I'm guessing that such a startling shock to my system comes with a price...shedding. Maybe of the course of time, my system may have leveled out and returned to normal but right now I think this is the best course of action for me. I have worked hard and spent plenty of money to stay ahead of my hair loss. And I am not going to risk my current head of hair on an unproven therapy simply to see if it works.

There is no hurry here. The results, positive or negative, of PRP as a hair loss therapy will be known soon enough. At some point I may discontinue Finasteride again but it's not likely to happen until another proven treatment becomes available. Until then, despite the bothersome side effects, I'll continue to stay the course that has proven to work best for me.

I'm sorry if my decision to resume the meds has made it more difficult for you to draw conclusions about PRP for yourself. I hope you understand and see the logic behind my position.

I'll continue to post for those interested. And BTW-I am returning to Joe Greco for a smaller PRP session on August 24th. I wanted him to hit the area just above the nuchal ridge; an area previously overlooked and just beginning to show some signs if thinning.

Perhaps PRP will turn out to do absolutely nothing for me but I took the same risks with Finasteride and Rogaine Foam. I feel less apprehensive given the low level risk of any side effects for PRP therapy.

I'm not trying to confuse anyone. Post treatment, my hair both felt and looked better for a period of time. Is is possible that being off meds could cause one to lose ground? I keep reminding people that I quit meds 2 weeks before my PRP and that's been almost 8 weeks ago. Is any if this a plausible explanation for you or do you really believe I'm trying to decieve people. Please go back and re-read my posts and you'll see I've been upfront in my reporting. I will continue to do that for those who trust that I am only here to be helpful while being both honest and sincere.
