Regular Member creepingback Posted January 30, 2007 Regular Member Share Posted January 30, 2007 Maybe I'm stressing out too much, but I am almost at a month and my donor is still bright red...I have been looking at other pics on here and haven't noticed as much redness...besides the redness...I think it looks OK and to touch it I can hardly notice any raised area....is this OK? am I worrying too much? Senior Member nobuzz4me Posted January 30, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted January 30, 2007 cb, I am almost three weeks post op and I still have redness. I am sure with time they will heal fine. I think some of the continued redness is due to some itchng. NoBuzz
Senior Member Gorpy Posted January 30, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted January 30, 2007 At one month mine was still pretty red. It finally started to get better at about 2 to 2.5 months. ____________ 2700 Total Grafts w/ Keene 9/28/05 663 one's = 663 1116 two's = 2232 721 three's = 2163 200 four's = 800 Hair Count = 5858 1000 Total Grafts w/Keene 2/08/07 Mostly combined FU's for 2600+ hairs My Photo Album See me at Dr. Keene's Gallery
Bill - Seemiller
creeping, Don't worry my friend...you may be red for a few months....hang in there. I'd apply Aloe Vera or Vitamin E Oil on the recipient area (I like Aloe better..Vitamin E oil is very thick and sticky) to help minimize the redness. Senior Member HK500 Posted January 30, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted January 30, 2007 Yes, it can take several months even a year or so before it eventually matches the tone of the surrounding area. It's due to the blood supply in the scarring tissue, I had other surgeries (nothing to do with HT) and my Doc told me some people are more prone to redness than others, I still have some redness left in the scar tissue more than 6 months later, it's starting to blend in though but very slowly. Bill - Seemiller
Oops...I just read that the thread says DONOR area...athough my advice would still apply. You can experience redness for an even longer time in the donor area. Aloe would probably be your best bet for the soothing effect. You can also try Mederma which is designed for scars. But really, the best thing that will heal it is time. A scar will reach maturation at approximately 1 year, which coincidentally is when your recipient area will reach maturation (or at least close to it) Bill
