Senior Member Dewayne Posted July 10, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted July 10, 2008 From what I know, finesteride will work on different parts of the head BUT it was tested and proven to work on the crown. Apparantly it wasn't tested under FDA rules for the frontal area, but they say it still will work. BTW, the drug Proscar is the same ingredient as Propecia but considerably cheaper. However, it comes in 5 mg so the pill will have to be cut in 1/3 and taken on M-W-F. 100? Regular Member tooyoung Posted July 11, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted July 11, 2008 For some it works on the front, for others it doesn't. You won't know until you try it and everyone reacts to the drug differently. There are people on this forum who have had amazing results, even in the hair line. I too have front thinning, and got on finasteride about 3 months ago along with Minoxidil (rogaine). I think we can all agree that has been proven to be the best 1-2 punch against MPB minus surgery. Only thing is both are a lifetime commitment if you want to keep your hair (again minus surgery). It's too soon to judge my results. I'm giving the drugs at least one year. Good luck
