Regular Member BIG A Posted February 4, 2007 Regular Member Share Posted February 4, 2007 Hey everyone, here are a few photos I just recently. I just passed my 6 month mark...I had 1,800 in the front area only. I'd really appeciate some feedback! HOW MUCH MORE GROWTH CAN I EXPECT DURING THE NEXT 6 MONTHS??? Senior Member NervousNelly Posted February 4, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted February 4, 2007 Because the "after" photos are not from the same angle as the "before" pic it is hard to give you precise feedback, but at 6 months you should still have some growth and further density to be achieved. By no means are you at full maturation. Give it another 8 months and call it good. NN Dr.Cole,1989. ??graftcount Dr. Ron Shapiro. Regular Member BIG A Posted February 4, 2007 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 4, 2007 Thanks Nelly, much appreciated. I'll try to add a few photos from the same angle like you mentioned. Do you or does anyone know what percentage of growth is usually achieved at my stage? Would you say about 75%? Do I still have new hairs to sprout or is everything there and it simply is a matter of the fine hairs maturing more?
Senior Member HK500 Posted February 4, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted February 4, 2007 I agree with NN, a similar picture angle to the before will help. You still have a lot of growth left both in length, texture and density. My Hair Loss Website - Hair Transplant with Dr. Siporin
Senior Member the B spot Posted February 4, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted February 4, 2007 Big A--- You have at least 2-3 more months of additional growth to look forward to. After the 8-9 month period, you will continue to sprout new growth, but it will be very sporadic, (in most cases). The biggest difference you have to look forward to, is what is called "softening" or "blending" (I have heard this as well), where at about 10-15 months, your transplanted hair will take on the characteristics of your existing scalp hair. The "average" HT patient milestones 3 months-- sprouting a bit (no guarantee of even growth) 6 months-- should hit anywhere from 50-65% during month 6 8 months-- the explosion of months 6-7 should slow down by month 8, but this is about 75-85% of growth and should give a good overall impression of density. 10-12 months--- slight new growth, hair softening, at 12 months most people experience their "full impression", but the transplanted hair can continue to sprout for up to 18 months in some instances. Your scar should be completely healed by this time as well, with no ridging or discoloration. For a session of 1800 grafts, I would fully expect your scar to be virtually invisable. This are just guestimates, based on my own experiences and the experiences of others. My guess is that you need another shot of about 1200-1500 grafts for a bit of density, but only AFTER your current HT has fully matured (1 year or more). I think you look pretty good for 6 months!!!! Regular Member BIG A Posted February 4, 2007 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 4, 2007 The B Spot, Thanks for the kind words, and thanks even more for the wealth of information. I'll continue to document my progress from here on out. I've seen some great threads by you over the past several months...you definitely know what you're talking about . I'll have more photos shortly. BIG A
Bill - Seemiller
Big A, Thank you for posting your pictures. B Spot knows what he's talking about and there's not much I can add really, except to offer my support to you as well. More growth will come as B Spot diagrammed out for you. Of course, everybody is a little (or sometimes a lot) different regarding the timeline, but it is a good guide. If you could post some pictures at a similar angle as the before pic, that would help too. Bill
