Hello all!

its been quite longtime I didnt login, how are you all?

here we go, I just wanted to start my traitement for my hair loss, I just bought Rogaine 50mg/ml minoxidil and one Energising shampo called Dercos from Vichy labs which contains Aminexil and vitamins PP/B5/B6, destined for hairloss (red/white bottle). I also ordered Proscar 5mg which I will get it next week.

I need your opinion! shall I already start using rogaine now or I wait untill I get my Proscar ?

I am intending to split proscar to 1/4 as suggested here in the forum.

about me:

I am 37 years old, I noticed my thinning in 1999 and I didnt use any traitements. in 1999 I noticed a huge shedding from my the hairline and from the crown. many hairs falled! ( but still I have until today very thin hairs on those places).

after 2 years, in 2001 the hairloss stoped by itself and it stayed like that untill today. we have hairloss in my familly both paternal/maternal because at the end they are cousins, they have same grand grand father! (but maximum NW4)

I already wrote email to some doctors (recommended here) for transplant with pictures and they suggested 2500 to 3000 grafts. some of them told me to start with Proscar first and see if there is some improvement before going to HT.

Here are some pics I took today:

I do not think it will make the slightest difference if you start now or wait until the Proscar arrives.

Not to sure about the shampoo.

Why not give Nizoral a go, this is shampoo also which may have some effect against hairloss.

You will need to give all of these meds at least a year to gauge their effectiveness.

thank you dabuski for your suggestion!

yes I was already planning to buy Nizoral when I was in the pharmacy, but the woman there told me that Nizoral is not for hairloss but for irritated and red scalp, thats why I bought the other shampoo with Rogaine..

I dont know why she said so though...

they are about same price : 12??????¬

That lady obviously has not heard of the big 3 for Hairloss:

1. Proscar

2. Minoxidil

3. Nizoral

Listed in order of possible effectiveness, but far better to combine all 3 to cover all angles.

Thanx Dab for your reply!

yes thats my plan too.. I will buy Nizoral anyways also and alternate it with the other shampoo(dercos). I already started rogaine yesterday ! until now everything is OK, no itching no red scalp. I am just waiting now my Proscar, I will send an update picture next month if there is some improvements!!! hopefully icon_smile.gif

needforhair,

The meds for the most part will maintain your existing hair; you may get some growth in the crown; if you are one of the lucky few, you may get slight improvement in the frontal hairline area; for me, they have at least maintained my native hair, even in the front; not trying to let you down, but you have to be realistic with the meds--they basically help slow/stop your hairloss; at your age (37) and the fact that you have a lot of hair left, you appear to be a perfect candidate for a HT;

thank you very much Dhoose for your support !

yes me too I believe that this meds will help ! I still have very thick hair except for the crown and the frontal! my bigger brother (44 years old) still has thick hair on the crown but his front is almost like me ( he didn't use any meds) ! maybe because he doesn't smoke cigarettes! I also always color my hair for years almost every 3 months! to cover some gray hairs.. I dnt know if that is healthy..

yes the HT is the last solution! I just want to delay it little bit maybe when I am 45 or so.

otherwise my body is very responsive for the Vitamins or proteins for instance if I train bodybuilding only 2 weeks you can see lots of volume on my muscles.. I dnt know but I just hope this meds would act the same way!!! I will post my new pics after I accomplish one month of rogaine, I may start next week also Proscar when I get it.

take care!
