Nizoral and procerin?

Just wondering, do people have any experience with the above products?

Nizoral as i understand it, is a shampoo used for anti-fungus, and also has some DHT inhibition as well as keeping the scalp healthy, as long as you dont overdose

Procerin is a non-prescreptive drug, which inhibits DHT. Contains Saw Palmetto Berry Extract, Zinc Sulfate, Vitamin B6, Nettles, Muira Puma Root, and Uwa Ursi.

I've read several positive reviews on the product on other (non commercial) websites.

Both are inexpensive, so if the effect is somewhat moderate i might just give it a go. I am currently already on 1.25 mg finasteride and 5 mg minoxidil.

Any experience with the above products?

I have been using a combo of nizoral and revita shampoos for some time now; difficult to say for certain if it is related, but my hair does seem quite "healthy" on them and my hair loss, particularly in the crown region, seems to have stablilized. I also went through a temporary shed which is a positive sign, I suppose.

Pretty good bang for the buck and certaintly worth adding to your arsenal, imo.

i used procerin and it did nothing at all.

if it had the results it claims to achieve everyone would be using it.

in my opinion it is a waste of money

2 x strip ht`s with Norton,very poor results

1 x fue ht with DHI,very poor result

MiketheDane,

You've hit the nail on the head with Nizoral. Ketoconazole (the active ingredient) has been said both to combat against fungus and have some "weak" anti-DHT properties that may prove beneficial for hair loss sufferers. In my opinion, it makes a great adjunct treatment to Propecia and Rogaine.

I strongly encourage you to read the in depth hair loss Q&A blog I've written about Procerin.

Read additional articles on other hair loss drugs.

Best wishes,

Bill

Put your Procerin money towards Rogaine or Propecia. It is just another one of those Claimed "treatments" which don't work . I usedt for a couple years without results.

Bill, your article on procerin was most helpful. It would seem, that IF it works, the main ingredient is the saw palmetto, in which case buying it generic is a better idea.

Where would be a good place to buy nizoral and saw palmetto? Remember, im european.

Perhaps revita is a better choice? It seems better suited for hairloss, especially when the 2% nizoral is on prescription (and with my limited time to visit a doctor, i'd prefer this)

Or is revita too harsh?

Mike,

Personally, I am a fan of Revita because it's less harsh on the scalp than Nizoral 2% (at least in my personal experience).

I bought Revita through Amazon.com but you might want to shop around online.

Saw Palmetto in the US can be bought in any local nutrition store, though I don't know about Europe. Once again, it can be purchased online.

Keep in mind that I am not advocating Saw Palmetto as a hair loss treatment however, just be aware as to whether you are buying the Berry or the Berry extract. You don't need as many miligrams of the berry extract as you do the entire berry. In my opinon, the entire berry is a waste whereas the extract is what is proposed to potentially combat hair loss.

Again, do not take the above as a recommendation. In my opinion, you are better off with finasteride, minoxodil, and as an adjunct treatment Revita or Nizoral.

Best wishes,

Bill

Looks like im going for revita then. I've heard several reports on its healthy feeling it gives the hair and scalp, while several claims that nizoral would dry out their scalp.

Thanks. I will soon be using 1.25 mg fina once daily / 5% mino twice daily / revita 3 times a week. That ought to do the trick.

So far, just using fina/mino for a month, im starting to feel its effect especially in the crown region.
