502hairplease
I've been on finisteride for over a year now, but when I run my hands through my hair really fast; I can still fill a sink with hair. Does this mean the propecia isn't working?
Senior Member notgoing2gobald Posted February 21, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted February 21, 2008 it could just be a temporary shedding phase. everyone (even non-balding men and women) go through a phase where their hair temporarily falls out as new one's grow in. how much hair we talkin about? not a SINK full?.... how long has this "shedding" been going on? if you just noticed it recently, I would tend to say that it is the afore mentioned. Any sides on propecia?
Bill - Seemiller
502hairplease, Shedding doesn't necessarily mean hair loss. It is normal to lose anywhere between 50-100+ hairs a day as per the natural hair growth cycle. Though I know it is tempting to count hairs, this will most likely drive you crazy. You could always analyze the thickness of the hair shaft. If it looks thick and similar in length as the rest of your hair, it's most likely just due to the hair growth cycle. If any of the hair looks thinner, shorter, and lighter in color, it could be hair loss. Keep taking Propecia (less any side effects), it's your best bet to hold onto what you have.
