Just a question, I was wonder if it's normal for your hair around the temple areaa (the 2 sides) to be thinner than the ones in the middle. Or does that only happen to people who are going throught balding? Thanks.

I'm not sure. I don't keep a track of how my hair grows, I've never cared about it nor have I ever feared balding.

I meant the hair from like your eyes upwards. The part on both sides of the head where hair starts to recede when men start to bald. The both sides of the M-shape, yeah. However when I look close I do see some new baby hair growing, thin and short. O.o Does that happen to balding people as well?

One weird thing I"ve noticed, my skull structure is strangely similar to that of a baby's as well as the hair pattern.

zgmf,

Though it's difficult to tell from the pictures, it does appear that you may be experiencing some recession and hair miniaturization which occurs as a result of hereditary hair loss.

The finer "baby hair" that is "thin and short" may have once been thicker but is in the miniaturization process and soon will not grow.

Consulting with a dermatologist or a hair restoration specialist will help you determine whether or not you are experiencing hereditary hair loss.

Zmgf,

It looks as though you are expirencing adolecent male pattern baldness. Dont feel like you are alone, this happens to 15% of children and can start as early as age 7. Becasue you are only 15, i would not recomend propecia, but in a clinical study rogaine had an effect on 95% of the kids tested. Its not going to regrow all your hair, but it should hold you over until you are old enough for stronger treatments.

zgmf,

Try to relax my friend. I understand your frustration and know how hard it was when I first started to lose my hair. These pictures are a bit more clear and as I said - it does appear that you are suffering from early onset of hereditary hair loss.

Propecia and/or Rogaine are your two best options for hair loss treatments at this time. They are pretty good at haulting future hair loss and in may even regrow some hair. In early stages like what you are experiencing - the chance is greater than you will be able to regrow some hair and reverse the miniaturization process.

Best wishes,

Bill

This is bullshit. My father doesn't have it, my uncle doesn't have it, my grandfather did not have it, none of my relatives that I've met have had it, and I, being the only person having it? I'm not even that old yet. And I was lucky, because if it wasn't for my curiosity for discover more about widow's peaks I wouldn't have known this. I have never in my life met a bald kid and I'm going to be one. Whyyyyyy?

zgmf,

I have already recommended that you consult a hair restoration specialist or a dermatologist to determine the cause of your hair loss. There is only so much we can do to help you discover the root cause of your hair loss condition over an internet discussion forum.

Nobody in your family male or female that you know of has experienced any level of hair loss? This sounds unlikely though I'm not denying it's possible. Nonetheless, the gene may have been carried through without impacting anyone and you just may be the unlucky one.

I'm sorry brother. Know you are amonst friends.

How old are you if you don't mind my asking?

zgmf,

Once again i will tell you that you are not alone. The average age for kids to begin hairloss is 14.8 years old. Although it may not seem like it 15% of kids are a norwood 2 or worse. I for one started receeding at 15. I am now and taking rogaine and propeica to minimize the damage.

I know its tough, feel free to private message me if you want and can talk some some. We all know what its like, were all here to help you.

Seriously dude I think you need to relax, for a lot of people it can happen a little bit during the teenage years and then just stop. Be wary of what these fellows say, don't just listen to some dude on an internet message board and immediatley jump on some prescription meds, I took that route and ended up in peril.

If it's any consolation I'm 20 and my hair's a bit worse than yours but almost nobody will actually say that I'm balding.

In my opinion, just relax, don't do anything about it, because you're not balding, and if you ask any of your friends they will probably agree with me. And you did state that no one in your family lost their hair, so this is a very good sign that you're probably not gonna lose anymore.

It can take years to progress, and by the time it gets anywhere near the point of bothering you, I'm sure they'll have something out for it.

If you're really concerned you could just try something like taking saw palmetto along with nizoral shampoo, but make sure you use a moisturizing conditioner after using nizoral. This will thicken your hair up, and on the plus side these things don't really cause dependency.

Also try to just not feel stressed out and enjoy life.

Matt,

Again im going to have to disagree with you. It is ture 16 is probably to young to get on propecia but id say 17 is ok. Eather way Saw Palmetto is not the smartest choice. First of all it side-effects are still possible. Many have reported sexual side-effect while on saw palmetto.

All in all for my man gmgf, i would suggest you to get on rogaine for 1 year, then seriously consider propecia after that.

(I am 17 and am on both rogaine and propeica so dont feel like your the on one)

I don't know what you're talking about when you say "many have reported sexual side-effect while on saw palmetto" as a matter of fact saw palmetto is included in quite a few male enhancement products out there including enzyte.

Other than that I just think that saw palmetto can be a good addition to using nizoral, on it's own it is pretty weak, but then again anti-androgens aren't really for regrowing hair, it's more of slowing down or stopping the process. I think many people underestimate nizoral, I've been seeing quite a few peach fuzz hairs lining up what would be a perfect hairline on my head. But then again I have been using xandrox 15, although half-assedly.

All in all I think the kid's probably not even balding though, just going through the natural phase of hairline maturation which happens to most people, ever notice how little kids have an obnoxious amount of hair on their foreheads? It's really nothing to worry about...

I agr ee with Matt that Nizoral is underused by hairloss sufferers. The data is there and it can assist in a hairloss regimine.

As far as the drugs at a young age this is a tough call. Of course nobody wants to take drugs period but regarding this guy we are not sure if he is thinning. You will not stop ALL thinning with meds anyway..

Maybe I would see a doctor and then use Minoxidil first then possibly entertain the thought of Propecia..

of course I would get on Nizoral or Revita as well

Mrjb, In regards to Nizoral, I haven't used it because IMO I don't think topicals make a big difference in preventing hair loss. I will look into/read about Nizoral more. Would you or anyone else talk a little more about it? Thanks.

giants,

Many have reported sexual side-effect while on saw palmetto.

I'd be curious to see such reports as in my research I have not come across this. Of course, I'm not ruling it out either - there's always more to learn!

Matt and Mrjb,

I think many people underestimate nizoral...

I agree - but I think there are also some that overestimate it too. Ketoconazole used topically (Nizoral, Revita, or even in foams such as Extina etc) is said to be a "weak" DHT inhibitor and may be known to work due to it's sebum removal properties.

I personally feel that ketoconazole is a great adjunct to a hair restoration regime - and certainly it would be better than nothing at all. But I wouldn't put much credit in it as a stand alone treatment.

Just my thoughts.

The general consensus is that minoxidil is more effective at growing back hair while finasteride is more effective at keeping what you got.

I am skeptical as well but at least the data is there. The best indidcator in my mind is the fact that Nizoral is not the one who did the study which implies objectivity. I certainly do not claim any substantial re-growth but if it can assist in increasing haircount legitimately then it does not hurt to use it. Besides, in the form of Revita, it is utilized with all of the other so called "anti-DHT" items some of which do have some validity.

This, in addition to the fact, it is a good shampoo for thinning hair wins me over.

At least this Shampoo does have some marginal legit properties as opposed to most on the market.

I will say that using the xandrox solution, even half-assedly, along with nizoral for almost a year now my hair loss has not progressed a single bit. I've even regrown quite a bit of peach fuzz which I'm going to really work at to thicken up by using a pretty dedicated regimen which includes mornings and before bed every day. Supposedly after that it only takes about 3 applications a week before bed to maintain the regrowth.
