Is it advisable to do my first day wash myself. I live 2 hours from clinic and don't really want to drive all the way back for a 5 minute wash. Can I do this on my own? Or should I just mack the 2 hour drive and have them do it? Should have spent the night there. Thanks!

I'd definitely go back for the one-day post op check. It's more than just for a wash; as the doctor needs to examine you and look at your grafts, donor, give you advice for caring for your head over the next few days, weeks and months.

Dr. Cooley hooked me up to some sort of oxygen thing over my head, and gave me valuable advice I probably wouldn't / didn't remember from the day of surgery.

yeah..I'd say suck it up and drive back there. You've invested alot of time and money already...whats another 4 hour round trip icon_biggrin.gif.

Like Dewayne said, it is important to let the doc examine your grafts and do "push backs" of any grafts that may have come loose. I know, I had some minimal bleeding/oozing the first night, and that made my scalp messy but the wash and treatment at the clinic made it look and feel 200% better.
