I would definitely take option 3, with perhaps some Nizoral thrown in. The (known) side effects of Propecia, from what I understand, are close to nothing. DHT is an androgen, very important in the developmental stages of life, but not so much later in life. Less than 2% of the people who take it reported side effects, and those were mild.

Trust me, you want to get on it sooner rather than later. I wonder how much hair I could have saved if I had been on it a few years before I actually was.

Anyway, thats just my advice. =)

but isnt takin propecia just delaying the inevitable? unless you stay on it for the rest of your life? the long term effects could be a lot worse than loosing your hair?

propecia .5mg 7x

revita shampoo 5x

multi vitamin 7x

jw34, Your thinking is correct as far as the propecia goes.

At your age I would not start that drug.

The sides effects are a reality for some people.

Then as you said you half to keep on taking it.

Hold out as long as you can before getting a transplant.

That is not only expert advice but almost 50 years of wisdom! icon_smile.gif

dude...

I wish I was 20 when I stared taking that stuff. I waited till I was 35 and my scalp looked like the full moon.

if your worried aboiut side effects, take propecia every other day instead of daily. According to my doc it works just as well without the side effects

JW -

Only thing that truly helps your stablize your hair loss is Propecia/Proscar. Everything else is CRAP! Nizoral 2% might be somewhat helpful. Try Propecia for one year. If you get side effects, then quit. Side effects are reversible.

I respect Folica, and his opinion is the viewpoint on the other side of the fence from mine.

Both are valid. However, if you take my advice, you end up not losing your hair. Once its gone, it isn't coming back. You can rearrange the hair you have with transplants, but nothing you lose is going to regrow.

Both Propecia and minox require at least a follicle to work with. If you let them die and your head is shiney, on the other hand...

Just my 2 cents =)

Hi..

I think if you are in the beginning of hairloss, then you have more options.. Personally, I would start on Propecia ( speak with your doctor about it of course) to maintain what you have.. You could also start on Minoxidil but I think it is too messy so I don't use it.. as far as Shampoo's I like Revita because it has the ingredient Nizoral does, but it is much milder ( and has a ton of other things in it to assist against DHT).. Shampoo is not going to do much but it certainly won't hurt..

that's it

Hang in there buddy!

IMO good choice staying away from the propecia at this point.

That 2% is just not adding up from what I have heard, read & experienced!

Mrjb,

and has a ton of other things in it to assist against DHT

I'm curious what these things are?

jw34,

You have already received some excellent advice from our fellow members.

If you want the best line of defense possible to fight against your hair loss,

I'd take finasteride, minoxodil, and add Revita or Nizoral shampoo as directed.

Do the research on the possible side effects of all medication before starting.

Also understand that you will lose all benefits from the medication if you stop taking it.

I hope this helps.

Bill
