  1. I am going to start using Nizoral & Nioxin -- switching every other day. Based on what I have read, it's going to make my hair really dry and potentially shed faster. Do you guys recommend any conditioner that prevents the shed due to dryness, but at the same time it's gentle to scalp? My pharmacist recommended Pentine or Dove conditioner..
  2. It was me who has claimed that. I have had terrible results from the foam. I believe I am not the only one. Surf on hairlosshelp forums and you'll find many people experiencing same problems I have mentioned. I say incostistent because it has worked for some people and it hasn't work for lot of people even after using it for 6-7 months. KG
  3. Rogaine foam is much better cosmetically, but lot of people who have used it have had terrible results even after using it for 6-7 months... I used it for 3 weeks and lost TONS of hair... Once I stopped using (since I was really freaked out) it, non of those lost hair ever grew back -- it's been a year since then (those hairs were not new grown rogaine hairs, they were my original natural hairs).. I am not using that product... too much inconsistency and not proven yet.
  4. Hey Bill - Yeah man life has been rough in past year with work and school.. just trying to keep up with everything.. Give me a call sometime and we'll chat.. Matsuri - Yeah I'll let you guys know how it goes.. even if I do go back on rogaine, it won't be until end of the year.
  5. Thanks WTS!! How long do you keep the rogaine on before washing it off (if you wash it off)? I am thinking about using rogaine in near future, but unfortunately I have to work early in the morning... So I was thinking about getting up at around 5 am, apply it and let it sit for 2 hours.... then take shower and wash it off before heading to work.. At night, I would apply it and keep it on all night. KG
  6. Rogaine foam has been very very inconsistent for everybody.. I tried it, and I regret it!! while liquid worked wonders for me in the past; I was too balding really bad in crown... Stick with what's proved, stick with Rogaine liquid. If you ever consider HT, consider FUE over strip, even though it's going to be lot more expensive...
  7. Yeah Bill is right on the money. DON'T stop it. You might actually end up looking lot worse than what you had started with.. I know that's that not what you wanted to hear. I used it in the past for 2 years, it worked like a charm, but then I got really sick of it as I had graduated from college and had started a professional job so I hated using it in the morning. First I reduced it to just once a day at night, but I started seeing hairs falling in no time.. So I found it not helpful continuing once a day (or so I thought). Soon after I had completely stopped using it, I lost all of regained hair plus some more. I looked like LOT worse when I stopped... I was so depressed and it pushed me getting a HT to recover crown (I only used it in the crown at the time.) Since then I have had 3 procedures totaling 8000 grafts all over the top/front/crown.. I have a good coverage all over, but I hate the density. I can't style my hair any way I want to.. Plus I am too afraid to loosing more hair in future as I am only 27 and I have norwood 7 history in my family. I am also afraid that my scar may eventually become visible!!! I have been on propecia for 7 yrs, but I don't think it's working as well as it used to in early years.. So I am back to square one... Using Rogaine as it will help with the blood flow into follicles.. I have two concerns: 1) As it stands today, I am thinking about getting up really early in the morning and applying it.. keep it on for 2 hrs and then wash it off, take shower and goto work by 8-9 am (that means i'll have to get up at 5 am) and then apply again at night and like you do - keep it on for 2 hrs and then togo bed. I am just wondering if it has to be on your head for 4 hours, or once you keep it on for 2 hrs you can wash it off without losing effect.. 2) As we all know rogaine works to re-grow hair if the follicle is not dead. But what about in my case. I have had 8000 grafts, and I don't know if Rogaine would actually help re-grow additional hairs. Thanks, KG
  8. Hello all - I have a question about Rogaine re-growth. This question may apply to rogaine users and/or those who have used rogaine after having a HT procedure. Basic conception is that if your hair follicle is not dead, rogaine will help grow hair out of that follicle. As lot of you know I have had 8000 grafts so far all over the front/top & crown. I am just okay satisfied with the density and I am afraid of future hair loss as I am only 27 and I have norwood 7 history in my family (I have been on propecia for 7 years). I am affraid that I may continue to lose hair (specially sides) as I grow older. Therefore, I am thinking about start using rogaine again. I have used it in the past with a great success, but I stopped using it because of its inconvinience.. It's been 4 yrs since then, and I guess I might have to start using it regardless if I dont want to lose more hair any further (I am worried about scar being visible).. Since I already had 8000 grafts all over the top, I am wondering if Rogaine will actually help me promote new growth? What are your thoghts?? Thanks, KG
  9. Matsuri - Congratuations On new growth!!! Few questions for you if you don't mind: 1) At what times in morning and evening do you apply rogaine? 2) How long do you keep it on before washing it off (if you wash it off)? 3) Have you ever stopped using (for a week or two)or missed a dose since you started using it? Thanks, KG
  10. Hi waittosee - Truly amazagin results! Can you share some of your best practices with us? such as.. 1) I believe you use Minox all over your head, so do you still use only 1ml, or do you use 2 ml (1 ml on crown & 1 ml on front/top)? 2) I believe you use it twice a day.. At what times in the morning and evening do you use it? & How long do you keep it before washing it off (if you wash it off)? 3) How often do you miss a dose? 4) What was longest time you went by without applying in between (some people just take a break from it, like for a week or two)? 5) Do you have severe hairloss history on either side of your parents? I think your experience will help lot of people here.. Thanks... Happy growing! KG
  11. Hairbank - Looks great man!!! Dr. Wong did amazing job with graft placement... KG
  12. Thanks guys.. KamCal - Your post-op pictures look great... You have a great density in donor, so if you ever run out lexity you have an option to consider FUE.. there are several docs who perform great FUEs. My shockloss in donor scar is much worse than yours, maybe becuase it was my 3rd procedure?? I went ahead and got a hair cut to # 4, bad idea...it's very visible... I am hoping it grows back soon.. Thanatopsis - Dr. Wong said I can do one more procedure if I had to... but I am assuming the # of grafs would be much smaller like Bobman... but I think I am done with Strips... I hate those.... in fact I am done with HTs.... Can't believe I had to go thru this at this young age.. but I know I am not the only one... Bill - Question regarding MSM... I know it speeds up the exisiting hair growth.. but does it make you dependent on it after you stop using it?? I want to use it to speed up natural hair growth so I can hide the scar and the wierd look, but I am worried that if I stop using 3-4 months later, it might have bad effect on my hair growth of the newly transplanted hair.. what's your take on it?? Thanks..
  13. Tried to create a weblog, but it wasn't working for some reason... I'll create one later... For now here are the pictures summarizing my HT journey.... Feel free to leave a comment....
  14. 1st Procedure - Dr. Keene - 1500 grafts 2nd Procedure - Dr. Wong - 3500 grafts 3rd Procedure - Dr. Wong - 3100 grafts
  15. Has anyone used DermMatch post-op on the scar to hide the shockloss? I have suffered shockloss around the scar, and buzzing it down to #4 doesn't help either... I used it today, and it worked pretty well... I believe I had it on for about 14 hrs before I washed it off in the evening.

  17. Spex - It's been almost 2 weeks for me, so I guess I should let it heal naturally.. As for scabs secured in incisions... You mentioned by day 8, the grafts should be secured 100%... if so, why docs recommend to start removing the scabs starting with day 7, and don't let any scabs to accumulate by day 8-10???
  18. Hey guys - Finally got the staples out.. what a relief.. Although I do have a question... Is there any special care suggested on the scalp post-op?/ I know lot of people use Emu oil/Vitamin E/Olive oil etc... Mostly to reduce the redness.. In my case, I don't have any redness, but my scalp is quite dry... Should I use any products that can help bring better/faster results... (rogaine is out the question).. Also, for those of you who had HT in crown... are the grafted hair/scabs more sensitive/tender?? The U-shape area on my crown is very tender.. maybe because it's the area right above the scar?? Getting all the pictures together to get the webblog up...
  19. That's exactly what it is... Now lot of doctors/patients have a weapon called 'finasteride'... that's the reason lot of patients get extremely dense hairlines at very young age... Hopefully for them, finesteride will work for next 20-30-40 years...
  20. How come Dr. Cole from Atlanta, GA is not recommended here? I have only read/seen great results from him...
  21. Thanks guys... Joe - Special thanks to you, Doug and Dr. Wong for great care..
  22. Wylie - Were you on the Propecia/Proscar the whole time???
  23. I see no reason why you can't get a HT even though you're so young... ofcourse ethical doc won't touch you until you are on propecia for atleast a year, it's working and you plan to stay on it for the rest of you life... Also the doc will give a high hairline to meet the ends..
  24. How do you guys deal with dryness on scalp post-op? I am 7 days post up, lot of the scabs are off and I notice lot of dryness... should I keep it the way it is, or should I take care of it by applying any moisturization product?
  25. Thanks guys. Yeah I already use the neckpillow, which helps somewhat. But I just find it difficult getting peaceful sleep with the head propped up.. and if I sleep on my stomach, I put the pressure on donor area.. I think I'll be popping some sleeping pills tonight.
