  1. Hey was the Dr Weigel out of Maryland? near Chevy Chase Road? R
  2. Ahall, I feel for you--I have been there---feel free to pm me and we can discuss our situations--I just visited with Dr. Hasson in Vancouver and his office and staff are incredible---I was there for a counsultation with the Doc and I met three previous patients (two that work there) and one returning patient who let me take a look at his work----and a guy that was in the middle of his procedure----he was taking a break and just walked into the waiting area where i was sitting----out all of my experiences this is a first---These Docs are great and encourage u to see all of their work-------Then one returning patient was sitting in front of me in the bright light and I had a comb going thru his head----It was impossible for me to tell he had any transplants---If it had not been for the tiny scar on the back of his head I would not have believed it--I was jealous and happy for the guy at the same time---so hang in there buddy-------There is hope out there for us both. Rfla
  3. Bill, After meeting with Dr.Rose I really did not have high expectations of what Dr.Hasson would tell me--I just figured I would go coast to coast and get the advice of two of the best Docs in the business : ) Dr Hasson had the same reservations as Dr. Rose---the incision was made too low and trying to repair it could cause more damage---and you were rite on concerning the redness and inflamation--It too was caused by the scar and Dr Hasson may be able to help me out with that issue . I wanted to visit Dr. Hasson for other possibilities that u and I have talked about before. Also i will try and take some better pics for you guys to see---Maybe there is someone out there that can give me more info on scar revision that I am not aware of??? But from what I understand I have met with two of the best in the business and got the same answer Thanks for all of your help R
  4. Update on the scar situation: This past week I met with Dr.Hasson of Vancouver--After meeting him and his incredible staff --He decided that he would not reccomend trying to repair the scar (Thank you very much Dr. Markou and The Hair and Scalp Clinic of Clearwater,Largo Florida ) I will not repeat his exact words lol lol --- Again if anything positive can come from this post--I repeat DO NOT let any Doctor make an incision on the lower portion of your head area.
  5. Rose, I met with your office last year to inquire about a scar that was very low on my head/neck area--during my visit another guy happend to be there concerning the same issue--I was wondering if you guys have had any luck with repairing these difficult scars and if so--what techniques have u used Thanks, R
  6. The graphs are from open harvesting---I met with Dr Hasson this past week and he feels my best bet would be to reomove the strip of plugs along my hairline and suture up and then replant them---then return in 8 months to finish up work on the hairline.
  7. MM, I am from Tampa--Dr Rose is wonderful!! avoid the hair and scalp cinic/Dr Markou in Clearwater/Largo
  8. Luminal, Glad to know the forum has helped u out as much as myself Good luck to you, and keep us up to date R
  9. Forum, I am kind of overwhelmed by all of the replies this post has received---I do want to make one thing clear-- after several phone calls and face to face meetings with Dr Markou/Director of the clinic I was sent away with a bottle of Rogaine (which I still have)and told to return in 4-8 months for a follow up---three days later I visited Dr. Rose -he and his assistant of many years immediately gave me their professional opinion- I was experiencing hair loss/damage due to the incision being made too low on my head(below the bony prominece)--At No Time did HE BASH DR.Markou,Director,or staff of the Hair and scalp Laser clinic--He gave me his professional advice Doctor to Patient and advised me how he (if asked )would handle the revision work--He told me to revisit Dr Markou and ask him to help me out! I decided not to revisit Dr Markou's office--I had visited four previous times what would have changed? -I feel as if Dr Markou's office seems to be more concerned with what Doctor Rose and I discussed instead of the real issue---MY HEAD lol-----I made mistakes as well---I only met with the director prior to my surgery, I did not meet Dr. Markou before signing the permission form/waiver---I did not research and educate myself prior to the surgery---my bad, live and learn----I trusted the Director as I had been a patient of the clinic for many years---I was assured that Dr. Markou was as good or better than Dr.Riggs---But like i said before It was the educated, and published Doctor Markou who made the incision too low on my head--sorry to keep repeating myself-- and that this post is so jumbled together---trying to save space on the forum The truth R
  10. Again Thanks for the info Bill,B-spot,young--looks like I will be making an appt with a dermatologist--where were you guys before my past surgeries lol
  11. reading the post again lol----Doc how do you know what my donor area looked like? and that I was there for repair work? hmmmm and making sure you get the story straight-----I DID NOT have a stretch scar before the surgery with Dr Markou---And doctor Rose told me that there was a 50/50 chance that if he repaired the current scar that it could reoccur--thats the truth : )
  12. Bill thank you for your feedback (I have followed your story for quite some time now and has been inspired by your experience) and Yes the scar does not appear to be that low--even I thought the same after looking at the pictures--but TRUST me the incision was made below the prominent process on the back of my head---I guess I just have a long or big head lol--does this mean i should have more donor hair than others : ) Thank all of you for your comments--Bill, buzz, young, honestly this has been difficult for me to discuss and even harder to actually post pics--- Again, the pics have been taken over one year post op--and after 7 months of maderma and vitamin E applied daily--I wish I had taken pictures shortly after the procedure--and I wish the pics were of better detail---my camera is 4 mega and I was unable to post them in true def. The red/brown area below the scar is actually very bright and there is not very much hair growing in the area--so combine bright red with light hair and you get (noticeable) its ok when I have my hair grown out long---but like i said Im not used to having my hair long in the back---Thanks Chamber for all of your comments--I do not doubt that Dr Markou is a very nice person--And I would feel totally different about this whole situation if he/and the director would have been honest with me during the several post op visits--They refused to admit that there was anything wrong other than some shock loss--If only you could have seen the back of my head--and then for me to walk into a highly respected Docs office three days later and tell me that I was not dealing with shock loss and that rogaine was not going to help my problem---Like I said I have met with Dr Markou and The director face to face like a real man and they are both well aware of how upset I am concerning the situation--Do you think I have received one phone call to check on my situation or to ask how things are going? Nope not yet!! You also seem to be offering much advice----Well I am asking you---fix it? How would you suggest I do that?? I have physically been examined by one of the top Docs in the U.S. and he was not able to give me any promises of FIXING my problem--but I am surely open for suggestions-- and you also seem to forget that I paid thousands for this scar that I get to wear every day---Listen I too am in the medical field and yes I am well aware of the complications that are involved with any type of surgery---Like I said before If the situation would have been handled differently I probably would not have made a post on this forum --but I truly do not want another patient to have to endure this type of situation. Anyway, I am open to any suggestions from any and all---actually would appreciate it--and I am sure if Doctor Markou is as compassionate as you say he is I will receive a phone call offering to send me to a specialist or refund my money so that I can seek out one on my own-- I will be sure to let you know.. oh and Bill I noticed you mentioned shock loss--does this mean that more hair could possibly grow back in?? and will the red area diminish or get any better??---and chambers yes I have had two previous surgeries with Doctor Riggs formerly of this clinic----Have you noticed any negative post regarding him?? I am not posting here for fun or to be malicious---This post started with a simple warning to other members---well maybe not simple- but I have to admit I do get angry and frustrated with how the situation has been handled-----Again sorry to anyone offended--I only speak the truth!!! R
  13. This is over one year post op and have been using maderma x2 a day and vitamin E at night for the past 7 months--sorry for the picture quality but its difficult to take pics of the back of your own head lol---please note the large red area that extends well below the scar--I had to reduce the quality of the photos in-order to be able to fit them in --is there a way to post hi-def pics?
  14. another thought-----If this is truly an employe of the clinic replying to this post then you know exactly who i am----There is no reason for me to lie----and no reason for me to be anonymous--My name is Rod and obviously I am from Tampa. I have been a patient at this clinic for atleast ten years---I was first introduced to your clinic when you advertised in the paper concerning a trial study regarding propecia--I came to your clinic you did a hair analysis--you put me on the medication and I returned later on to discover that I indeed had responded to the meds--(and I thank you very much for saving the hair that i have left,,at least for now I have been thru numerous studies with you guys-including propecia,I purchased a hair max laser comb from the clinic, used rogaine, and some other topical med--I have had two sucessful procedures with your clinic (Doctor Riggs) and credit you for filling in my previous plugs to make them appear more natural--I am thankful for that!! but after much research I have discovered that you used most of my available donor hair all for the frontal hairline---yes this is what I was concerned with at the time---but you being the professionals that you are should have explained to me that due to limited donor area (resulting from punch graft technique in the 90s )that eventually if my hair continued to thin that I would be left with a frontal hairline and nothing behind it---which is what is happening--- I put my trust in your wisdom and eperience and feel that you were not truly honest with me. I think that is why Dr Markou made the incision where he did--I had limited donor area and that was the only place to take it from-----I also made the mistake of not speaking with the Doc until the day of the surgery--after taking time off from work and making all of the arragements--I asked the Doc before the surgery--I realize this may be my last surgery and I need to know if this surgery will make a difference in the appearance of my hair line----I was assured that it would make a difference and that even while wet it would look fuller and more natural----at the time I had no idea that there was any danger as to where the incision was made for the donor area--Now i understand that it is basic knowledge!! The results of the procedure were poor and made little difference in the appearance of my hair--I was left with a few wiry and white/grey in color strands that made really no difference in the hair appearance. I was also told that the length of my hair in the back was sufficient enough to cover or hide all of the donor area---this was probably the most damaging of the entire procedure---I took 9 days off from work--which in the past had always been enough time to heal and return to work with the donor area being unoticable---when I did return the work I was bombarded by my staff and coleagues as to what had happened to the back of my head--this was completely humiliating!! I was forced to grow my hair out long in the back and had to keep it much shorter on the top and sides---my hairdresser was no longer able to us clippers on my hair(as we used to use a number 4) Even today I can not use clippers when i have my hair cut--It has to be cut with scissors and longer in the back and it turns out with a gappy looking hair cut----because she tries to keep the sides as short as possible but no longer than in the back(needless to say I have to tolerate the mullet jokes etc) It is painful because we all know that one of the rules to making ones hair look fuller is to keep the sides and back shorter--- so my hair dresser tries to compensate by using thinning shears on the sides to make it appear less bulky in appearance. Like i said this whole ordeal has been very painful and it was caused by the slicing of one doctors scalpal----since my first surgery I have never had perfect looking hair -----but I was happy and was able to live with the fact that I could use a number 4 clipper to cut my hair and was fine with it--I had never had any concerns over the donor area as it had alway healed to be basically unoticeable (the strip scars that is)---its late and I am tired--I could write all night---like i said if this is who i think it is replying to the post you know who I am and can easily pull my file----feel free to call me--you have my number and have called me many times in the past---and we can make arrangements for u to post my before and after pics---but if i remember correctly u did not take any pics of my donor area after the surgery for some reason---I will give you permission to post as many pics as you want--even though it is still difficult for me to look at today----Yes i understand that we are each our own worse critics and I have seen many more people in worse shape than I (sorry for u all) but please do not attack me for telling my story as every word is true---and if asked what can u do to make it right---im not sure there is an anwer.
  15. Hello everybody---I am simply telling my story--In hopes that each individual can make their own decisions about which Doc to choose---that is what this forum is all about. I had three procedures at this clinic -two with Dr.Riggs who used to work at the clinc--I had no problems at all with Doctor Riggs he was wonderful and the results were nice---I wish I had known of this web site before going thru with my last surgery. I went to this clinic in hopes of filling in the area behind the hairline--Doctor Markou made an incision very low on the back of my head/neck area to obtain the donor hairs. I knew immediately after the surgery that something was not right---the donor area was extremely tight and I could feel that there was an area below the incision that was very bare and almost slimy feeling--I immediately contacted the clinic manager to ask his opinion and was told that It was shock loss and that it was normal and would grow back in a few months- I accepted his answer at first but had reservations due the fact that I have been thru the surgeries before and not experienced any of the above symptoms---It was then that I decided to do some research and came across this great forum site and first learned of a stretch scar--I returned to the clinic and met with the Doc and the clinic manager to ask about the posibility of a stretch scar --which I had read about on this very forum(you can do a search and u can see that my very first post was questioning what a stretch scar was all about--this was over a year ago) during my meeting with the Doc/manager I once again was told that it was shock loss and not to believe everything I read on the web sites. I was given rogaine to put on the donor area and told to return four months later---I was also told at this time that if indeed we were dealing with a stretch scar that the Doc would simply "take it out" when i returned months later. I did not feel satisfied with these answers and immediately made an appointment with Doctor Rose of Tampa--Immediately upon my examination Dr Rose and his assistant of many years told me that I was dealing with a stretch scar due to the incision being made too low on the back of my head (below the bony prominece on the back of the head)Dr Rose simply advised me of my options (including maybe having to use expanders,or transplanting hair into the actual scar) He advised me to go back to the doctor and explain the siutation in hopes of getting a refund or having the doc send me to a qualified plastic surgeon that specialized in scar revision--He even offered to call Doctor Markou and explain the situation---I chose not to return to the clinic due to frustration toward the Doc/clinic----Doctor Rose also explained to me that it was a 50/50 situation and made it very clear to me that the scar could reoccur after any correction work. Thank you for all of your help Doctor Rose----Too bad I had no idea that your office was only a couple of miles away from my home--Anyway, this is my story and every word is true, and accurate---again feel free to do a search and take a look at my previous posts----And if you get anything out of this post---Do NOT let any doctor make an incsision too low on the back of your head---research ur tail off before having the surgery ---simply reading a few post could have saved me much humiliation and depression---I have been researching for many moths now and have decided to visit a very skilled and respectable doc in hopes of repairing the scar---After the poor procedure I made a decision to move away from Tampa for awhile in hopes of having the repair work finished and feel confident enough to return to Tampa and regain my life and friends- with some ammount of confidence----Read and research friends and Sorry Doc ---But I only speak the truth! R
  16. thanks for the info===actually have a consult with Dr Hasson in a couple of weeks,,then maybe feller and burnstein,,shapiro seems to busy
  17. Just curious as to why many members do not mention the cost of their procedures? It seems that this too would be valuable information for people seeking as much knowledge as possible. Everyone realizes that each patient has individual needs but why not mention some prices for these procedures--No one seems to have a prolem posting how many graphs they have received---but many fail to mention the price of the surgery--Is there a reason I am not aware of??
