  1. Hi TCW,

I think your progress looks really good especially given the number of grafts you're dealing with. I agree with Can'tDecide that you should shake things up a bit in the styling department. Maybe seek out a good stylist and be honest about what you've been through and ask for some tips for styling and maybe a good cut to maximize the result. The good thing is, even at nine months, you might have some additional improvements to look forward to.

  2. Does everyone do laxity exercises the exact same way, or are there different ways to do them?

What are the most effective? Why?

Are there any studies on this?

I'm scheduled for my HT soon, and I'm not sure I'm doing them right or getting any benefit. It seems like my hands tend to slide over my hair, and the LAST thing I want to do is pull any out just so I can move some around, LOL.

If your hands are sliding over your hair then you are not using enough pressure. You have to be pressing your hands, the base of your palms, FIRMLY against the scalp and literally push your scalp up and then pull it back down. The improvement are small on a daily basis but they accumulate over time. Keep it up, they work.

  3. I hear this all the time, " I won't care when I'm (insert age here)". Problem is, you're wrong. You will care and just as much as you do now, maybe even more. Yes, you do have a really nice head of hair but your hairline is a bit, and I do mean slightly, high, there is no denying that. What you are asking for might be reasonable however but we can't tell without a photo and a hairline drawn. If you could do that we could get an idea of what you're after and it may be perfectly reasonable.

  4. Joe I have read your posts on generic vs. name brand proscar and I have been wanting to give name brand proscar a run, but I have found it difficult to find a legit source at a decent price. All of the pharmacy's in my area are quoting around $170 for a four month supply, and that is compared to the generic costing me $9 for a four month supply. I have checked with the clinics in my area, even some of the bad ones, and no one seems to be selling the meds anymore. Do you happen to know of a reputable online source for name brand proscar at a reasonable price? I've recently started to think that I my have gotten a bad batch since my pharmacy switched labs.

    Great job,

170.00 for a four month supply? Do you mean for 30 tablets because that is a four month supply. 30 5mg tablets to a box, quarter one tablet, and taking one quarter a day will last four months (give or take a few days). That is WAY expensive. It costs me 80.00 for a four month supply (one box). I don't deal with online pharmacies so I can't recommend any particular site. Where are you located (country)?

  5. Statistically, via word of mouth and not even taking the internet into consideration, if someone has a good experience with something they might tell two people. If they have a bad experience with something, they'll tell ten people. Now add the internet to this and the numbers become exponentially higher. In my twelve years of taking this medication and speaking with thousands of other hair loss sufferers it is my distinct impression that finasteride is getting a bad rap.

    Since21,

I take 1 mg daily in the form of Propecia. I tried Proscar and quartered it, but I experienced some shedding after switching so I went back to Propecia, unfortunately. It costs significantly more.

When taking Proscar were you taking 5mg name brand Proscar or 5mg finasteride? There should be no reason why 1mg Propecia would work better than 1.25mg Proscar if you were taking the name brand in both cases.

  6. To add you as a friend on Facebook would open up my personal life to you, which I have no plans on doing. You can "like" my public page (linked on my posts) to see if this allows me to see your info but even if this works what you do for your day job is irrelevant. You could easily get a "finder's fee" for anyone that your send their way through emails or personal discussions and me seeing your personal life makes no difference as to whether or not you get compensated in some way from HTI, be it through monetary means or free or reduced surgeries or other compensation.

  7. Well, I'll be blunt. None of what you are saying makes sense. Your personal Facebook page says nothing about you, has no photos of you but has only info about the clinic you went to and your email address as the point of contact. Your personal page is the kind of page one puts up when they want to promote their business or their profile and one can only "like" the page. No one can find it if they are looking for you so your friends would not know where to look. It can only be found when looking for your clinic. I typed in your name on FB but it took typing in your clinic name for it to be found so I fully believe that your excuse is a bold faced lie.

Your own blog/diary has this to say...

Please feel free to email me directly at roblloyd77@hotmail.com if you would like to discuss my procedure, or would like assistance in arranging a consultation and i will gladly assist.

If you have any questions or require any assistance in arranging this, please do not hesitate to contact me and i will gladly assist and point you in the right direction.

Remember, i have been through this very process, so am the best candidate for support!

Why would one want to contact you to set up a consultation?

Why are you the best one for support?

Why would one mention you to "get the best price?

Making me think I might actually contact them and ask to be paid, it'd be less hassle for me off people on here and is get some income!

I think you already did but you just chose to continue on as just another happy patient. The hassle is that everyone now knows what your motives are.

  8. Would it not be easier, less hassle for me if I was a paid employee of HTI, rather than having to repeatedly answer to all accusations? Yes, it would!! He fact of the matter is, I am not, so why would I say I am?? I could do, just to let you cheer with joy thinking 'I was right', say it is my clinic or whatever, but why??

You didn't mention anything about discounted or free surgery. Regardless, no matter how good a rep's result may be it is still a rep's result. A "happy patient" on the other hand that freely gives his advice and help is gold and has far more weight than any rep can muster.

  9. Put quite simply... if I can help people get the best deal with a hair transplant then surely that is helping people get value as well as results?? I can't guarantee a discount as it's nothing to do with me what prices they give. It's like going to a car garage and saying 'I came to you because you were recommended on am owners club' or 'my friend was happy with the service and said you could do me a good price'.

With regard to my fb page, yes that is my email address, as it is on my blog site, it is not a HTI address, therefore if my friends (not Facebook stalkers) are thinking about having any surgery then I would rather give a positive reference, rather than letting people go to rubbish places like Transform.

Jeez, what is wrong with you people?!? Seriously, why is it so hard to offer helpful advice and pointers to people?? I don't get this when posting on trip adviser.

I'll remove anything off my Facebook as I am tired of haters on the hunt. Go have a HT wherever you want, I hope you get good results.

    Regards

    Rob

YOUR Facebook page??? The wording on YOUR Facebook page is quite unique for a "personal" FB page, no? Contact "me" to see how "we" can help you? Come on, Rob. Seriously.

  10. I have stated that my sole intention on this forum is to help people get good resukts and avoid the pain of a failed HT, so uif that means telling people about my positive experience and passing on my research findings then i will do so.

I am under no terms emplyed by HTI or have been informing them of this thread, i have better things to do with my time. To clarify (again), i have been working in the Utility sector now for 6 months after working in the Banking sector last time these accusations were thrown at me.

I have a question. If you are not employed by HTI, and by "employed", this would mean receiving any sort of compensation monetarily or any sort of discount on future surgeries, why does your diary/website encourage visitors to "Mention this Hair Transplant Diary or the Hair Transplant Network for the most competitive prices."?

    roblloyd.jpg?i=893425140

Furthermore, why is your email address listed as the only contact for the HTI Facebook page?

  11. With the designs you have drawn you are effectively worsening the recession of your temples. Bad idea. You brought the temple points forward when there is no reason to bring them forward. These are the triangular tufts of hair behind your eyebrows. Overall, IF you need anything I would think it would be no more than 1000 grafts, 500 on each side, and that would be to reduce the concave shape on either side of your forelock. Don't get greedy, do just enough.

  12. With blades, they are being cut to size on the fly to match the size of the graft so the use of blades allows for a more customized procedure. When using the implanter the pens still have to be loaded so there is plenty of handling of the grafts not to mention, in the case of Dr. Lorenzo for sure, the pace is frantically fast so the chance of mishandling the grafts (i.e. damage) is potentially going to be higher.

Also keep in mind that the shape of a typical follicular unit is not round. I've shown this in the past as you can see the linear arrangement of follicles in a typical bundle while it is still in the scalp. Logically a coronal or lateral slit will be the better fit thus allowing for more precise control of angle and direction and even less compression of grafts when dense packing. Because the incision is flatter you also have a more shallow incision furthering the case for less trauma. As Mickey said, a flat blade has less surface area than a needle but this is the case for identically sized implanter pens as well because they are still round just like a typical needle.

However, all things being equal, I find that the tools are becoming less of an issue as each practitioner of hair restoration will find the best tool that suits their practice. Just because someone has a procedure with lateral slits does not mean that the result will be obviously better than his identical twin that had a procedure with needles or an implanter pen from a different doctor. I really like Dr. Lorenzo and I respect his work with the implanter. He has great results. Same goes for several other doctors that use needles such as Rahal and Shapiro. In the end, it comes down to finding a doctor that is comfortable with his tool of choice but more importantly is showing consistency with his work, day in and day out. If you find a doctor that has a deep library of results that makes you say "wow" regardless of technique or tools then that is all that really matters as long as the results are being presented in an honest and transparent fashion.

  13. Our Toronto representative James Barnett will be meeting with clients to discuss the procedure performed by Dr. Hasson and Dr. Wong. James will also answer questions regarding our clinic and how we might help with your hair loss problems.

To schedule your visit visit our website and fill out the online registration form at Hair Transplants | Hair Transplant Surgery | Hasson & Wong. You can also email info@hassonandwong.com if you have any questions.

  14. Spanker is correct on all points but I'll expound on answer "d." however in that the surgeon does not need to go in between each SMP dot as the dots are not permanent, the hair is. You'll have to go in again for SMP again anyway so if the doctor makes an incision on top of an SMP dot it won't make a difference in the long run.

  15. In my opinion, they are the real deal in that they have some smart people working there and they are legitimate with their efforts but I personally don't think they are any closer than anyone else at the holy grail. They are one of the leaders but only because the field of players seems to be getting smaller.
