  1. Well, it is used on the scalp, but for me mostly in areas where there is enough hair to make it look like the scalp is covered. There is a spot on my crown, though, that is a true bald spot. I use dermmatch there also, and it still seems to work, maybe because its small enough to keep people from looking at it. However, if the spot got any bigger, I think it would look like a paint job. Frankly, I don't know how much longer I can keep this up. I'm hoping that with Propecia and Minoxidol everything stays the same, (which still isn't great but its better than losing more hair). I should also say that I don't like having to rely on cover ups like dermmatch and toppik, but I don't like being bald and I don't have the money (or the courage)yet for a hair transplant.
  2. I've been using Dermmatch for about 9 months, and I think its great. Nobody (that I am aware of) has noticed anything. You do need some hair, however, for it to blend in with. I have thin hair on top, so it doesn't give the appearance of a big, full head of hair, but does cover up my (many) bald spots quite nicely. The biggest problem I have with it is that it does come off when rubbed. So watch out for pillow cases (stay away from white ones whenever possible!).
  3. What I really like about this site are posts like this, which let me know that I am not alone. I have the same questions and concerns as you. I have seen the posts by those who have had HT's who say you just have to deal with the short term looking bad, with scabs and redness and dots and shaved heads and shockloss, but then say that in the long run its worth it. My question is this: clearly, this whole thing is about vanity. For all of us, including me. So, if I am looking to spend a lot of money for surgery in order to not be bald, because looking bald bothers me that much, why would I want to look worse even for a short period of time?
  4. Stillhere, You seem to be very calm over the fact that after getting 2,000 grafts it looks like nothing has been done 6 months later. I haven't had HT yet, but I think I would be pretty upset if I spent all that money and got transplants and saw no improvement at all. Maybe I'm misreading your comments, but I guess one of my big concerns in deciding on whether to have this done is the fear that after finally deciding to have this surgery, there is no improvement or, even scarier, my scalp looks worse than before. Any thoughts?
  5. I have not yet had HT, but am strongly considering it (and figuring out how to pay for it). Anyway, I currently use Dermmatch with a little Toppik fairly effectively. I look like I'm going bald, but not bald yet. Without it, however, my scalp shines through (literally). My question is: after surgery, I would like to continue to use these products while I await the new hair to grow. How soon after surgery could I start to use Dermmatch and/or Toppik?
