  1. If you are right there in DC, yeah, I'd say there is no need to travel far for a HT. I'll put some pics up on Sat.
  2. Excellent experience with Dr. Lindsey of McLean, VA (02/26/09) When I began researching doctors to perform my hair transplant, I saw before-and-after surgery photos posted by Dr. Wm. Lindsey of McLean, VA. I thought the results looked excellent. He continued to post consistently top-notch results throughout the months. In January, I decided that I wanted him to perform surgery. Ultimately, I chose him over two other coalition doctors. I should say before I begin that I'm not one to sugar-coat things??”I'm very direct??”but I really cannot think of a negative aspect of my experience with Dr. Lindsey. After having surgery on Feb 26, I am EXTREMELY happy with the look of the transplant, (pictures will be posted this weekend,) and the entire experience with Dr. Lindsey and his staff. The cliff notes of this post = Dr. Lindsey is a really cool guy; his staff is excellent; and to top it off, Dr. L gave me over 100 free grafts. (Over 1350 total in the hairline.) The scar is beyond any expectations I had for it??”extremely small. Again, I will post pictures here this weekend. I would be happy to answer any questions about Dr. Lindsey, or the experience, if you have any. (PM me if you want to do it that way.) I'll describe it in more detail: The day before surgery, I traveled down from New England to Dr. Lindsey's office in McLean, VA, (a suburb, only a couple miles outside of Washington, DC.) That afternoon, I met with Dr. Lindsey to devise a thorough game-plan for the transplant. By looking at my hairline, he knew exactly what should be done to improve it. He sought my input, and we agreed on all aspects. I got the feeling that it's very important to him that his patients are very happy with his work??”an excellent quality. We agreed that he would place 1250 grafts on the hairline; however, the next day, he ended up giving me over 100 grafts for free. The surgery went by more quickly than expected. I took one valium in the morning, no pain pills, and to be very honest, I never felt any pain during the surgery. (Later in the evening when the anesthesia began to wear off, I took a few Vicodin, but frankly, I was expecting the process to hurt a lot more than it did.) Dr. Lindsey placed the grafts on one side of my head; his assistant, with eight years experience at this, placed the grafts on the other side. The surgery went by quickly because the atmosphere in the office was laid-back and fun; this made what could have been a very nerve-wracking experience a comforting one. As I said above, Dr. Lindsey is a really cool guy. He is more easy-going and down-to-earth than any other doctor I consulted. (Along with his results, this is one of the main reasons I chose him??”I just liked him more and trusted him.) He plays guitar in a rock band and it was fun to talk about music with him??¦ In other words, what was good about this was it was not like the usual, formal, doctor-patient relationship. Much more genial. His staff is a lot like him in personality. They kept the atmosphere of the day really loose and fun. Also, the worked really well together. Dr. Lindsey used stitches instead of staples for sew the strip, (as he often does.) Unfortunately, I have to do my colleague a favor up here and won't be able to go to Dr. L to have the stitches out??¦ I plan to see him very soon, however, as I really want him to see the work. Also, I'd like to thank his staff. If Dr. Lindsey is reading this, perhaps you could address some of the more technical matters about this transplant? Or other general comments? Thank you, and please say thank you to everyone there. Again, I will post pictures this weekend.

  4. This is a good question. To be honest, for me, the answer would be different if my career wasn't on-camera. (For better or worse, in my profession, an attractive appearance often correlates to higher salary.) I hope to stay at around a NW2, largely for this sake... If I had picked a different profession, I'd be content, as my father is, as a NW3. Surgery with Dr. Lindsey on Thursday!!! Very excited
  5. I agree with you... This is a bad HT given the number of grafts. Have you spoken with the Dr. about this? Perhaps there is recourse.
  6. I see a positive difference in the 'after' pictures. How many grafts or hairs did you have transplanted to your crown? Who's your doc?
  7. I'll bring in a model for my HT in late February and see what Dr. Lindsey says... First I need to pick the model though. Any suggestions? (Brad Pitt would be asking too much I think, haha.)
  8. Hey everyone I haven't seen this question asked here yet--maybe someone knows the answer..? I have read that when people get plastic surgery, they sometimes bring in a picture to show their doctor how they would like the results to look. My question is: do people do this with hair transplants? For example, say someone wants their hair to look like, say, Schwarzenegger--could an accomplished doc do that? I know that a hair transplant is not a one-size-fits -all procedure--and what looks good on person A might not look good on person B... That said, do people do this? Bring in a model for their hair transplant?

  10. Thanks a lot, Bill, for the wishes and for all of the work you've done with this site. I have learned a tremendous deal and will be better off in this for all you've done. Thank you man I will definitely keep this updated.
  11. Hi everyone! I've been mostly lurking on this site for seven or so months now. Finally, this week, after meeting with various Drs recommended on this site, I decided to go forward with a relatively small (i.e. 1250 graft) HT with Dr. Wm. Lindsey of McLean, VA. I have been very impressed with Dr. Lindsey's consistent results, as posted on this site. Beyond that, after speaking with Dr. Lindsey, I realized that we were exactly on the same page as far as surgical objectives. He is very easy to talk to, and has been responsive to all communication. Very impressive. I started a hairloss weblog, which I will update frequently after the surgery. My objectives are to fill-in, to an extent, the "frontal triangle" regions of the hairline, which have experienced almost all of the hairloss. Also, ideally, I would not like for the frontal portion of the hairline to be "see-through," as it currently is. I like to spike up this part of my hair. Dr. Lindsey recommended grafting hairs 1/4" or so behind the current hairline, so as to safeguard against future hairloss. I think this is a great idea. Although I have not experienced any further hairloss since starting propecia 2 years ago, I would rather be safe than sorry and have to come in for another surgery a year or two down the road. This website is GREAT. Thank you everyone for your questions. They've helped me learn a lot about this process. I will keep you updated.
  12. Thanks Eman. I am going to have surgery with Dr. Lindsey at the end of February, (approx. 1250 grafts.) I will post how long it takes.
  13. In this site's FAQ, it mentions that a typical mega-session generally takes an entire day of surgery. I will not be receiving a mega-session. Thus I'm wondering, how long does a 1000-1200 graft FUT (strip) take? Half-day? Thanks for helping, everyone

  15. Dr. Feller contacted me within two hours of receiving my PM on this site... I am very impressed with his dedication to potential patients (and even more so with his results!) I have a consultation with him this Weds. He will be the third coalition Dr. I've consulted, and IMO, he's by far the most accessible. I have also submitted an online consultation with Dr. Cooley. After combing through this site (heh) I've discerned that Feller's and Cooley's work are--IMO--the most consistently excellent among east coast Drs. There is a lot of good work out there, but these two are extraordinarily good. The OP really can't go wrong with either. I plan to go with either Feller or Cooley--whomever can best accommodate a 1250FUT by the end of March. I will let everyone know.
