  1. Hi Mike, Dermmatch is definitely the waterproff way forward, although if you get it wet try not to rub your hair with your hand and use a dark towel- it can come off a bit! Toppik/Nanogen definitely looks better, and stands up to sweat pretty well (I go to the gym a lot and am fine using Nanogen) But not for swimming, I'd go for dermmatch and if you dont like the way it looks by itself, try Nanogen on top
  2. Just through most people's experiences on here lisa, I would say Couvre probably isn't better, the majority seem to have tried Couvre & Dermatch and preffered Dermatch by far, not used it myself, I fall into Vasilius's second category and use Nanogen, and like many really would reccomend it, many also reccomend using both together, could be worth a go?
  3. Yeah, Nanogen does need some hair to work with! Hopefully as yours grows back a little it will start working better, it's a pity there isn't any way to cover really new HT hair though, apart from styling hair over it, although I spose you could add Nanogen to your other hair like you did and style it over to reduce the HT area? (not suggesting a combover though, that only ever goes one way!) Anyway I'ms sure when your hair grows out a bit it'll look great anyway
  4. The Dermatch & Toppik route certainly seems popular, moreso than Couvre, I haven't really used Toppik as I use Nanogen instead but they're similar, and it can take a little practice to get it looking just so, but after a while you can do it pretty much perfectly even asleep first thing in the morning! Buying Nanogen in the US is, I've heard, not, easy, but I'm sure there are online shops? Makeup such as eyeliner could be a good emergency measure though, I might keep one around just in case, thanks!
  5. Hi, Definitely won't do you any harm, "smothering" is one of those myths, like having excess sebum that blocks pores, anyone who's ever seen and ingrown hair would see that it obviously takes a lot more than a thin layer of dye/wax to stop hair growth. The only thing I would suggest is that many many people here far prefer Dermatch to couvre saying it looks much better and is easier to use, doesn't cost a lot either so might be worth a try? I personally use Nanogen fibres and am really happy with the result, especially if you have thinning hair on the crown or front.
  6. I agree with Leeson, Dermatch is ok until the sun comes out, but Toppik looks good all the time. That said I actually use Nanogen, but same difference really, Nanogen's just far easier to get in the UK, one of the toppik sellers in the UK I think it was 123hair? or something, were terrible at delivering, but obviously in the US it's easier to get Toppik, so depends where you are. There are a few people reccomending using both Dermatch and Toppik/Nanogen together, I haven't tried it myself but might be worth a go if you have a lot of dermatch left?
  7. Hi, I can't answer for Toppik per se, as I use Nanogen's product (similar). Nanogen and I'm assuming toppik, is only held to your hair by static basically, so if you run your hands through your hair repeactedly, it will come off. I know Nanogen sell a locking spray which largely solves the problem, don't know whether Toppik do as well, and if they do if it's the same, but the Nanogen one works well. Couvre is fine an doesn't just come off unless your hands are wet (be careful after washing your hands though!) Although I've heard some people do say it came off when they used it, personally it didn't, I only switched to the fibre products as they look better. Hair gel clumps your hair together making it look thinner, could be something to consider? I knwo Nanogen, so I'm assuming Toppik, say preferably don't use it, but if you do use it and let it dry first, then apply the fibres.
  8. They do say not to excercise at all for at between 10 days and a month! I really would reccomend this, I haven't had an HT but I have had enough experience with head injuries (skiied into a tree, bad news!) to know that when doctors say don't do it, really don't! I got my head stiched up, ignored them, it re-opened 10 days later while excercising, and wasn't pretty. I know th itch to get back excercising is strong, but equally, you've gotta take care of yourself, and your new hair. Take at least 10 days, then go in gently.
  9. Happens a lot sadly . I wouldn't worry about it, I can't remember about Rogaine, but I know with my Minoxidil it was alcohol based and I think Rogaine is too, which really dries your scalp, not a sign that it's not working though. There are LOADS of shampoos etc from Head and Shoulders to the specialist stuff if your dandruff becomes embarrassing. I use nanogen's shampoo, only really because I buy the fibres from them and I'm lazy, though I don't know whether they're any better than the other specialist shampoos, works for me though, and as I said, lazy.
  10. Thanks for the Advert George I've only used Nanogen once when under UV lights and it didn't glow, (thank God, I didn't know it was a possibility!) can't answer for Toppik, let me know if you try it! Although, if you use the white colour of anything surely it might? Wouldn't know my hair still dark
  11. I'm sorry, when you say defining paste what do you mean? Toppik isn't a paste it is hair microfibres that you shake on. If you're looking for hair thickener though, my advice would be to stay away for Hair Cubed as they have some seriously clever photographers! Toppik works well to make your hair look thicker, see "Toppik vs Nanogen" for the experts opinion I'm only a newbie!
