  1. I'd just like to chip in a small word of defence for online pharmacies, yes there are a lot of bad ones, but most of them are perfectly reputable. Do you not have the same system in the USA as we do in the UK, where a prescribing pharmacy has to be a physical pharmacy with a pharmacy licence, rather than just an online shop? This seems to weed out 90% of the dodgy ones. That said I wouldn't buy any hair treatment from eBay!

I can't remember the exact figures, and it does vary between people- in fact most people do not experience this at all. I think the one case I read said a month to return to normal.
  3. I've said before, never trust a man who measures the fluidity and quantity of his semen. I mean really... Personally Finasteride left me feeling a bit sick and uncomfortable sometimes, and just wasn't making life pleasant, however I think major side effects are very rare- remember even the less than 2% difference between finasteride & placebo groups reported "any side effect", not crippling pain serious embarrassment or permanent damage! I know a lot of people have little faith in the FDA, but when it comes to drug testing I do believe if they say it's safe, it's safe for most people!
  4. Hi, I don't use dermmatch every day but sometimes. Whenever I do I wash it out in the evening. I'm not sure of any kind of safety issue, and wouldn't think it was a problem, however dermmatch makes quite a mess of pillows and doesn't always wash out- so that's why I do it. I've also never found any proof that washing daily worsens hair loss, my theoury has always been if it comes out with soap and water, it's doomed anyway. So I hope that helps!
  5. Sorry to not have an experience to share, but I can say a) that I've never found someone who Aminexil has really worked well for, and b) that their "proof" was done with Minoxidil, so you can't really judge it fairly. However I have also heard some people with new growth find it falls out early, but comes back again. I don't know enough about the hair cycle but maybe when it comes back first time around something, maybe even the treatment, pushes it into an accellerated cycle? I did hear one guy say his stabilised over time, so hopefully if you give it a few more months you'll find a better result? To be honest you already sound like you're doing pretty well, so let us all know!
  6. Some people are fans of sprays, I much prefer hair fibre type products as they look more realistic. If you can't get the same spray as you used to, Prothik I think is the most popular, and it's pretty cheap too. I think most of the ones in the US are much the same, although Haircubed costs 8 times more for some reason. I'm not a spray expert though, maybe someone else will eb able to help more...
  7. Seriously? I don't know for sure, but I'm pretty confident the number of solvents in magic markers aren't good for your skin anywhere, at all- particularly to conceal hair loss!! You might want to try dermmatch, it's quite popular and easy to use, it gives the same coating of the scalp but probably will be a little closer to your hair colour than magic marker! Another approach is to use something like Nanofibres or Toppik. These are keratin fibres- like hair, that atttach to what hair you have left and make it much thicker, and look like you have more hair. They're my personal favourite and a pretty neat solution to the problem. There's also loads of info on here about concealers, hair styles, & treatments, please stop using a marker pen!!!
  8. Hi Ac71. I don't regularly use a conditioner as I keep my hair quite short so don't notice much of a difference! I do notice increasingly that minoxidil dries my roots out a bit though, so I might think about trying a few. Revita made my hair feel good as well, although it didn't do all that it promised for hair loss for me anyway, but I didn't see anything with Nizoral either- maybe I wasn't patient enough? Just a question from me really- you're pretty sure SLS & Sulphates are bad for hair, I've heard this a lot but have never found any evidence. I'm not having I go at you but I'd like to find some, do you know of any papers etc that indicate sulphates are harmful?
  9. I've used quite a few different shampoos over the years with Minoxidil. Most recently I tried Revita, but wasn't really sold on the anti-hair loss effects as it did nothing for me at all. It did leave my hair feeling nice though. Before that I tried Nanogen Onescalp, it also does nothing for hair loss, but doesn't claim to. Was quite good as an anti-dandruff shampoo though so if that's a problem since starting Minoxidil you might want to give it a go. Nizoral's a safe bet, but quite hard to come by. Again I've used it on and off when I've had dandruff and it's pretty good for that, but didn't notice much of an effect on hair loss. To be honest the reason I keep trying different ones is because I haven't found one that's better than OK yet!
  10. There are a couple although I can't find any atm having searched for them. Unfortunately I don't use Finasteride as well so I could be of any use there.
  11. Quite an honest post there. I've never heard of any Minoxidil containing product giving sexual side effects, particularly nott ones that dramatic, I'm sure someone else would have reported it. Did you see a doctor at all? It could have been something other than the Minoxidil, it might have been dietary, an injury, or anything else in your life.
  12. Also, I'd have to reccomend Dermmatch- it's a great base-coat for whichever fibres you use.
  13. As in my other post Curious, I definitely prefer Nanogen- it's not a huge difference but it just looks better, more like hair, when Toppik can look slightly dull and artificial somehow.
  14. Hi Curious, They are roughly the same, although I prefer Nanogen slightly. I think they both need the original bottle to work properly as that's what charges them- or so I undertand. Interesting abouyt the static- I know from experience pulling a jumper off does dislodge a few, but nto all of them- I don't know whether this is due to static or just becuase I;ve dragged something over them. You don't happen to own a static generator so you could try do you?
  15. a) can this be moved into the natural tree-hugging section please? and b) just for the record, natural REALLY doesn't mean harmless, natural products can be just as bad for your hair, or just as useless ans synthetic/drug options.
