  1. oh i see..but i am interested in doin a mega session to save money in the long run..
  2. To be honest, if you're only a NW1 or 2 you would have to be nuts to get a mini-micro( I like the way they call them that, makes them sound small) HT in the front of your hair. Believe us when we say you will look worse than what you do now.Is that your goal? Yes I would like to clear up about the hairtransplant.com I used the phrase mini and micro grafts..which from what i understand can be misinterpreted because that terminology isn't used anymore. What I had meant was follicular units..Just like the other doctors use.
  3. Thanks for the advice, yea I was shocked at the misrepresentation of that clinic..But I guess you live and learn. I did send Dr Shapiro my pics for a consultation..gonna see how much that costs..I know it would be a long flight..
  4. Well I went to my consultation with Dr Samuel M Lam today in Dallas. Well to start off I was misinformed or I misinterpreted the cost I got on the phone. I was told the cost was per session...stage 1 1-1600 was $5450.00 stage 2 1600 to 2800 was $7428.00 stage 3 2800-3900 at $8506.00, and stage 4 was 3900-5200 for $9523.00 When I was on the phone I assumed they meant grafts..they were talkin about individual hairs. Their site looks good at www.hairtx.com The other drs that have seen my hair told me I need about 1500 grafts.. I was told at the Lam institute I needed 4500 hairs wich is $9523.00. I was also disappointed that they would not give me more than 1/2 cm of frontal coverage more than the hairline that I have..I'm not paying $10,000 bucks and not take care of my receding hair line..which is the whole reason I'm gettin this done...When most doctors say they are gonna do 1500 grafts..approximately how many hairs is that? Also I think that if we the customer are paying for this and we want the frontal to come down like (other people) and don't mind the risk of it being thinner on top in later years then that should be our choice. What is you guys take on this?
  5. I'm gonna be goin to a consultation with Dr Samuel Lam there in Dallas this Thursday. I will know more then but have read and heard some good things..
  6. You guys have given alotta good advice and I appreciate it.I like to weigh pros and cons before I make a decision...Gives me alot to think about..
  7. well..i plan on gettin micro in the front..but was also wanting to thicken up what i have on top with mini and micro..its gettin pretty thin. and I'm still trying to decide what doctor to go to.. I use rogaine, but i can't take propecia.I tried it and I would rather be bald then be less than.(everyone I have talked to has had side effects from it) I think that 1 to 2% side effects they claim is a big joke..also using niazonal and nioxin.. I don't like the idea of waiting...I have been like this along time and would like to look my best before i get too old.
  8. Yes that is the same one I'm talkin about..how much did you pay? How was your experience?
  9. Thanks for the web link Gorpy, it was very informative...and no doubt the best method..But speaking as a poor man who pays alotta child support, It takes a lot more single unit grafts to get the density look of strategically placed micro and mini grafts..even later when my hair starts to thin,I could go back again with mini and micro units..I have seen quite a jobs done with the combo of micro and mini..and it looks good to me..I wish I could afford the very best..
  10. I understand that dr Limmer only does micro units(too look more natural) and that patients don't really get a thick look..
  11. I'm also considering Dr Samuel Lam from Dallas and Bobby Limmer from San Antonio..Has anyone heard of these?
  12. I'm about a norwood 1 or 2. . Posted May 06, 2006 11:49 AM Lon, Are you referring to the "lateral slit" technique when you say "directional implants"? It is true, some doctors will dissagree on whether exclusive lateral slit should be used. Yes that or the tri slit or any other. also, some doctors claim you do less damage to hair follicles, vessels, and blood flow if you use needles intead of slits. It takes more skill to use a needle but if u have a good experienced tech doin it..you are better off. I was reading at the hairtransplantcenter that the techs are very experienced. I'm still doing research and learning but you guys have given me alot to think about before decide to go to Oklahoma..
  13. I talked with Limmer and many more and they said that alot of these places make a big deal about angle and direction..and its a sales pitch to make you think they do something extra..and its not that big of a deal..You are right that he does use needles and says he has good results without focusing too much on direction and angle. I appreciate the feedback you guys are giving.I like to hear different sides to an issue. I have just been doin alot of research and it seems alot of doctors warn of the doctors that charge so much..because a hair transplant really isn't that hard or complicated...and unless you are rich..price is a substancial factor..for most.
  14. I was wondering if some of you guys that have had a transplant have experienced ingrown hairs..(That become bumps) What did u have to do to get rid of them? Is that a sign of poor workmanship?

  16. I was considering getting my transplant here..I have talked to patients that have been there and seen there photos.. The price can't be beat..I feel its worth flying to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Have any of you had expeeriences or know someone that has with this center? What do you think about the follicle placement holes being done with a needle rather than a tiny scapel? Have you heard that all that directional implants are overated..cause your hair will be trained in direction when you style your hair anyway?

  18. Thats very interesting..it all makes sense now. This site is where I get all my information. I'm from Waco,Texas and it seems that the doctors around here are incompetent..lol I'm trying to decide weather or not to waste my money and buy propecia..I take 200 mg testosterone shots every three weeks to treat mild ED..So thats why I was curious as to what it does to the testosterone levels..But from what you are saying..its the dht that matters with ED..not really the testosterone..
  19. Thats good to hear..I'm just not understanding how it decreases sperm, erections, and libido..if it increases testosterone..
  20. I thought I would get more responses if I changed my topic name...Cause this is a subject to be concerned about..Have any of you heard that propecia lowers your testosterone level? Yes we know that it blocks or lowers dht wich is a product of testosterone. But does it doesn't it also lower your testosterone levels..so there will be less dht? If so wouldn't that make it hard on those of us who are in weight training and trying to build our muscles..You could lift weights religiously..but it won't get u buffed..because of lowered testosterone levels.. Somebody please inform me if this isn't correct. I'm trying to way out the downfalls of taking propecia the rest of my life..I also know that the less testosterone a man has the smaller his orgasms are..less semen and sometimes failure to be able to ejaculate... I have asked doctors if propecia causes lowered testosterone levels....and they don't seem to know..but then again I am from Texas..lol
  21. I know that these medications cut back the dht levels in the body..and many people have sexual side effects(alot unreported). I was wondering if the medication cuts back your testerone levels in the the body..(Low testosterone is the reason for impetence). Which if so, that also it will effect your outcome from weight training. Lowered testosterone levels will make it harder to get buffed. Is this correct?
