I also have high healthy sides with no temple recession to date and I'd like it to stay that way :-).
There is a risk of course, but I still have some donor left in reserve. I can already feel the laxity returning and then there's always FUE :-).
I'm considering trying Rogaine again after this hair transplant matures for the crown only. I'm not sure I will though, because the thinner appearance in my crown doesn't really bother me like the bald spot did.
Thanks for asking,

How much Donor do you reckon you have left for further procedures?

What i like about the result is that he can part it from left to right or right to left, cut it short and he has real flexibility.
I don't lose on the crown and I never really thought that crown work is really vital, what is important is how a HT frames you face, this one does what was required.
A word about "Tom and Jerry"- The internet is a jungle in which you can be attacked from all sides by people who will never have/take the chance to say to your face what they say through the PC.
Bill does a great job making this site a serious site, that's why I have posted my blog here over the months. We all need to remember that everyone one has a right to their opinion, as long as it is qualified and if we don't like what is posted under our input we can always turn off the computer and do something else

I'm leaning myself out the window on this but I would agree with you about propecia, it does lead to some degree of erectile disfunction, which you can correct with Viagra, which is a killer drug for the hair

What i think happened is this
The planned 3000 could not be harvested due to laxity problems, so Dr Rahal took the 2886 he could get. He put two fours in the frontal hairline on the right that add a lot of density and I guess the missing rest would have been planned into this area
I need to really reiterate that Dr Rahal and his team have my respect and gratitude and is one of the practices in the world.

Hi M1A1
You know the concept of "moving on" is a strange one, as if a HT is the turning point in your life and afterwards you do the things you never had the faith in yourself to do before. I'm not more confident my quality of life has not altered, women don't stop me on the street to run their hands through my hair- It's subtle difference. Guys hoping that a HT will change their relationship to women have missed the point anyway. When your in your 40's you see buildings burning down all around :-)and you'd better have more in your Arsenal than a nice HT.
Doc Rahal did a good job for me, but maybe I'm a little too cynical to expect an improved quality of life from an additional 5000 hairs.
However whoever does this operation and goes to the end deserves the respect anyone can give; regardless of what it means for him.
it is bastard ride and those who take it are an exclusive club....
-
Looks Super
But why did he make the hairline so jagged?
Did you ask for that?
-
Thanks for your inputs guys
One thing I'm not looking for is sympathy, I know a lot of guys would take hostages or hold up banks for my result- Though I never wanted to be compared to a Norwood 6 result
Here is a pic taken one month before the procedure
http://www.hairtransplantnetwo...opyID=4064&WebID=920
It shows it was going fast and I've come a long way since then
What I wanted to show in this thread is an honest assessment of where I am. Despite the rollorcoaster ride I never criticised my surgeon, even by implication; because he did the best job possible with relative poor laxity and an average donor. (He got 2886 out planned was 3000) I've not been calling him up or sending mails, because the problem, if there is one lies with my shedding. I've taken proscar 1.25mg a day since March 2008, i don't touch anything else- minox I can't use as I get heart palpatations-Not so good for 41 year old.
Cause I realise that HL is progressive and I certainly aint gonna get back to where I was at 20, or even 30

If I have my reservations, that's not a reflection on anything other than the chemical make up of my body and I can fully understand that anyone apparently complaining about a result like mine, would be a "red rag to a bull" for guys who have severe loss, or botched transplants behind them. But it's all relative and each person has different expectations- I know a beautiful woman, who is a real head turner- I'd give her 9 out of 10, but she never smiles because her teeth look like a row of bent over gravestones. I asked her why she was not prepared to accept that if everything else is perfect, a slight imperfection is a benefit.
All she see is the imperfection- nothing else BMS. I guess when you latch on to an issue you lose sight of the entire picture- That is also the danger

i'd like also to reiterate here that Dr Rahal is a top doc and there is no way to get a total result if you have 5000 hairs planted into and area where you lost 20000. I came pretty close though, and I only wondering why it is getting worse and not better.

All these pics were taken this week
Considering "The good"
Certain pictures you can take- and I stress it is about certain pictures, can make it look really good indeed. No argument there.
"The bad"
Look a little closer and your getting into the world of cover ups again, your noticing a hell of a lot of hairs on your basin
"The Ugly"
Stip away all nice lighting, brush it back in force and see where you really are.
I've lost a lot of grafts, I don't know why, but it seems to coincide with extreme itching
I'd be interested in knowing why or what I may have been doing wrong. If you look at the last pic. The left does not have the graft density, that was originally planted.
I won't be going to Dr Rahal to complain, cos two months ago I had the result I wanted, I don't know why it's slipping now, but I won't blame my surgeon. He can put them in, but he can't control if they stay or not.
I can also live with my result very happily, assuming it does not get worse.
What I'd like to know is how did I get here as I was at the point of a perfect result-That I will be asking him.
Looks like the second HT is something I have to assume is unavoidable.
Keep the faith

Hi All
I'm 3 days off 12 Months, some of you might have followed my thread.
http://hair-restoration-info.c...861/m/7591070404/p/6
As a Clint Eastwood fan I've divided my 12m blog into 3 sections:
The good
http://www.hairtransplantnetwo...opyID=4058&WebID=920
The bad
http://www.hairtransplantnetwo...opyID=4059&WebID=920
And the Ugly

Hi Miked
I never thought of that.
But as a 40 a day smoker I guess I wouldn't
I go every 6 Months for a full examination including a chest XRay. If everybody did that the risks of any inhalation would be reduced
-
Hi Wan
I can understand that I don't feel like posting my pics anymore, particulary as I have lost all objectivity regarding my results and don't know anymore what baseline I can compare them to. I get days where I think my result is crap, and others where I tell myself if you lost 20000 hairs then with 5000 you are in a better position than you could ever have hoped for.
I will continue posting until 18m so that guys can see what the entire journey looks like
-
Thanks for the inputs guys, but I have had some thinning in recent weeks which I put down to progressive normal loss.
When I get another cut I'll make sure the grafts are left longer than my natural hair.
My 12 Month update is due on the 27th and it will be a detailled one showing the good the bad and the ugly

There are a lot of chemical and expensive ones on the market. I'm wondering if anyone uses powdered starch.
My Mother uses it is a dry shampoo and has done for years without any adverse effects. You just sprinkle it on any brush it through.
I tried it myself recently and was surprised, how much more volume I had afterwards. You have to brush it well or you look grey.
I don't know if it would be good for everyday use, and you will have a layer of powder on the scalp, it also may not mix with minox or other
hair proucts
Has anyone any experience, inputs or concerns?
Thanks for the input in advance

5 months for me

Hi
I've noticed that the growth time following a short haircut has really increased for the transplanted hair. The rest of it grows like it used to as rapidly as possible, the recipient is very slow to grow. Anyone had similar experience?

You will care when you're 35...Im 40 and hanging around girls that are 25-35.
Also...I would wait a bit.
Same with me I agree with you 100% If you care at 25 you will care even more at 40
Get on a regular routine of meds and see how and if they stabilize your situation.
As Dewayne mentioned....don't sacrifice long-term looks for the short term.
I for one know that my doc (Dr.Epstein) doesn't love the idea of doing jobs on guys less than 25 years old.
Don't panic or rush into this.
These great Docs aren't going anywhere...and will only improve with time.
Research !

I thought I would come back and post my 2 year results
Hair Restoration Journal -two years
Those of you who remember my blog know I tried to be as brutally honest with the pictures and my experiences as I could be.
These pictures are also worst case ones and if you compare them to my earlier ones taken in similar conditions you might notice something
Appreciate all comments, good or bad
