  1. Bill,

I'm 3 months this Tuesday into the transplant. As in the post I created asking Dr Feller for the numbers of my procedure, there was some shockloss of the native hair, but I'm not sure if there was any real terminal hairs in the area of the black dots. As I said previously, they appeared the day of the procedure after it was done. I'm not able to get a close up shot of the dots, because the camera cant focus that close. I need a telephoto lens.

  2. Thanks for the replies. There's no question that Dr Feller did a great job; I just wish that I new what my count was, since everyone on here seems to know theirs. What do you think about density? Can anyone guess what the cm2 might be? I wonder if it'll look dense enough where it wouldnt look "see through". Looking at my pic from Sept 28 shows the healed scabs and was before they started shedding, and i looks pretty dense; I can't see were else he could of placed more.

  3. I've tried asking and contacting you several times to ask exactly how many grafts I received on September 18. We agreed on 3000, but you told me that I actually received about 10% more than that. I don't doubt that, but i'd like to know exactly how many; quantities of 1, 2 and 3 group grafts, etc. I figured perhaps you havent been receiving my emails, so i'm posting it here. Everyone on this messageboard seems to know exactly how many grafts they received, and i'd like to have this information as well.

    Thank you,

    John

  5. No cysts anywhere, just pimples, and by the way, is it bad for the follicles to squeeze them? The itching is in a area where some transplants were placed. As far as the non growing grafts; when I wash my hair, I usually scrub with my fingertips pretty well, and the never seem to come out. They seemed to grow for a few days after the procedure, but stopped.

  6. Last night I had some massive itching in one spot that I usually get the itch. But this time it was different; it was almost like a burning itch that made me want to really rip at it. Does anyone else have this? Is this normal? The scalp isnt dry, and i'm not sensitive to minoxidil. Also, what are the little stings mean? Lastly, I see a lot of growth cropping up the last week or so, and also see some grafts that never shed, but never grew. They're just there. Will they grow or shed? Its been about 2.5 months now, and they never did anything.

  7. As you well know from the posts that I posted, on 9/18 I had a 3300 graft transplant by Dr Feller. For the past 3 days, many of te hairs that were implanted are shedding. I wouldn't mind so much, but my existing hair was shaved when I was told that it wouldn't need to be. Well, what's done is done, and now i'm going back to work on Tuesday. Law inforcement lockerrooms are just a perfect place to make fun of a half shaved head. Now that the shedding is noticeable, I really dont see my exisiting hair anymore. Could shockloss of happend that fast? If so, I guess your theory of shaving and minimizing shockloss is out the window, Bill

"Hair growth occurs in no other phase of the hair growth cycle except in the anagen phase. The hair shaft is generated by rapid mitotic cell divisions in the hair matrix to produce hair fiber at a rate of 1 to 1.5cm (approximately ?? inch) per month on the scalp. An anagen effluvium occurs if there is sufficient injury to the rapidly dividing keratinocytes in the hair matrix. The insult damages the keratinocytes and diminishes the metabolic activity of the growing hair shaft. The stoppage of cell division results in a thin, weakened hair shaft that is susceptible to fracture with minimal trauma when it reaches the surface of the scalp. Hair breakage in an anagen effluvium occurs within days to weeks (typically 1 to 3 weeks) following the insult to the follicle. A close examination of the hair will show that the scalp end of the hair shaft is dystrophic with a rapidly tapering configuration (bayonet hair)."

Right after my transplant, i've been noticing a lot of hair broken right at the base. I see others from grafts that didnt fall yet that are flat to my scalp as if broken. Any thoughts?

  11. Thanks Bill, hopefully the growth will be as good as the healing! This is a last pic from today to show all the scabbing and redness gone. That one dot is a mole that I had all my life. Hopefully this will be the last few months that i'll see it! This will be the last pic in a few months as i'm sure nothing new will be happening at least until 3 months. A few more graft hairs fell today, maybe 10-15. Hopefully the minoxidil and propecia will help most to stay in (yea, right).
