  1. Ok, looking forward to the future if I were to decide to get a hair transplant, I think I'd like the flexibility to buzz my head (as I currently do to about a #2). However, I don't really care if I have a visible scar on the back of my head as long as the scar is not "obviously" the product of a hair transplant. So, my question is: is it possible for a HT doc to create a donor scar that is not perfectly straight? As in, could the doc make a diagonal scar that would appear to be from some other accident (bar fight, bicycle accident, etc). Haha, I know this is a little weird... but I personally could care less about a scar on the back of my head provided that it's not clearly due to a hair transplant. Thaks in advance

  3. yea, thanks so much guys. That is reassuring. I agree that cutting unhealthy tendencies is probably the best course of action. and Bill, I will try to avoid washing down pills with a swig of alcohol, haha .
  4. I know this is kind of an obscure question... but if anyone has any input i'd really appreciate it.
  5. I've been doing some research on Fincar and I noticed that it is metabolized in the liver. Does this mean that if you drink a fair amount, Fincar can be damaging to your liver? I tried to find side effects, but couldn't really find any instances where Fincar has been bad for the liver. I'm wondering if anyone on this forum has had or heard of any instances where Fincar has had any adverse effects on someone's liver? And if the effects are long term or stop when Fincar is no longer taken??
  6. i have a question. i've been using proscar and taking the 1.25mg pills everyday. i notice people mentioning that too much can harm your prostate. i am young (early 20s), and am wondering, is this too much to take?? also, if it is too much, will it hurt my fight against hairloss if i switch to every other day after going everyday for almost a year now?? thanks in advance guys
  7. Hey, So I started using Fincar (generic Proscar) and I have two quick questions. I cut the pill into quarters and take one quarter everyday. However, sometimes I feel as though I am not cutting the pill into perfect quarters. Does it affect the results if I am not taking exactly 1 mg everyday? For instance one day I may be getting .6 mg and another day 1.3 mg. Will this hurt me? And also, should I be taking it everyday?
  8. So, I saw a report on the news the other day that said there has been a major increase in the amount of counterfeit prescription drugs that have been flooding the U.S. I currently use Fincar, and this kind of worried me. I am wondering if anyone knows of any ways to test and see if the Fincar I'm using is legitimate? This report said that many of these counterfeit drugs reach legitimate doctors.

  10. So I started using Fincar (the generic Proscar) 1/4 pill every other day. Sometimes I think that when I cut the pill I'm a little bit off and that it may not be exactly 1/4. Is it bad if you take more or less than 1 mg of finasteride at a time?? If you're not getting the 1 mg every other day will this not be as beneficial even if you are getting the correct amount in say a given week? And also, when will someone with minimal receding but some diffuse thinning of the hair begin to see results?? I have been using it for about 2 and a half weeks now and I can't decide if I'm seeing any results or not. - Thanks

  12. I would like to pose this question to those on this forum who have an extensive knowledge of the current research and breakthroughs surrounding hair restoration... I understand this is solely speculation and something that most regulars on this forum do a great job of steering clear of. but... If you had to make predictions of what the improvements in hair transplantation will be (based on current research) what would you say? and what do you think the timeline will be for this? what will transplantation be like in 2 years? in 5? maybe we could base this on how fast the advancements we now have came to be? i am particularly interested in the area of BHT, and if it will get more refined.

  14. just a quick question for anyone who uses Fincar Is it harder to split Fincar than Proscar?? And if so, how hard is it to split? And also, do you see the same results from Fincar as you would from Propecia? If anyone knows of any differences in results/side effects please post them here, however small the differences may be.

  16. oh yea, just one more quick question (didn't really think it deserved its own thread) i am going to be spending a year in costa rica. if i finally do get the proscar prescription would i be able to continue to fill it while in costa rica? thanks
  17. for some reason I was under the impression that those who do get good results from FUE are able to keep their heads shaved fairly short. I understand that it is fairly rare for people to get good results from FUE, but I thought those that did were able to buzz their hair to at least a 1. You mention, "little tiny white dots" as scars that are visible. I was wondering if you could expand on this a little more? I have just not really heard much about the scarring from a successful FUE. thanks
  18. So I've decided from doing some research that getting on Proscar as soon as possible would be the best plan for me. However, I have not been having any luck getting my hands on any. I contacted Dr. Scott Alexander in Phoenix but the person I spoke with said that they are not allowed to prescribe Proscar to anyone. I have also tried a few other places. I desperately want to get a prescription but can not seem to get it. I'm not sure if it is because I am young and my hairloss is minimal? But I am hoping to get some good feedback of specific places where Proscar is prescribed. I'm not sure if people want to chime in with names, but I am just having a really difficult time locating it.

  20. Hey, I was wondering if anyone had heard of Procerin and if it has had any positive results. I am 20, and have very minimal hairloss. However my family tends to lose their hair very quickly and I'm noticing some thinning. And I also have had trouble getting my hands on Proscar and cannot afford Propecia. I was just wondering if Procerin is a good product to use for my situation. thanks

  22. Hey would it be a good idea to use Nizoral shampoo and Rogaine Foam in conjunction??? I wasn't sure if there was anything wrong with using those two together or if there was a better combination anyone knew about?? (I have very fine hair - not sure if that changes anything) thanks

  24. Sorry, I have just a couple other questions. Okay, I know that my personal situation does not call for an immediate HT. And I am still thinking and not planning on rushing into anything... but, hypothetically if I were definitely going to keep my hair cut very short for the rest of my life and if BHT saw some advancements that allowed it to be more predictable... would it make any sense for me to look into a BHT?? Because currently I am under the assumption that when you have buzzed hair it does not matter as much if the transplanted hair does not look exactly like the scalp hair (as in the case of BHT). Is this true or does it matter even more when your hair is short?? In other words - am I correct in thinking that a person with a short buzz cut would be the best candidate for a BHT because the difference of the body hair from the scalp hair would be masked by the short cut. I dont know, I might be completely wrong. Any feedback would be great.
  25. Thanks guys. I am definitely taking all of your advice and not jumping into anything right away. Bill- My hairloss is very minimal right now, but my family seems to bald very quickly once they begin balding (this is what happened to my older brothers). I am 20 years old. I am not on any medications currently. How do I get Proscar?? That seems to be what everyone feels is the best medication. And what is the best thing to use in conjunction with that?? I have very fine hair (it has been like that my whole life). Thanks Again.
