  1. Jenn-24, I've read almost all of your posts, and this is the first one that I feel I absolutely have to respond to. Don't order Propecia. You mostly come across as an outgoing person with a positive outlook, but every now and then you stun me with some of things you say. Assuming that you're 24, you have a long life ahead of you, and you will most likely get married. You will probably want to have kids, and what a risk you would be putting your children in because you took a medication that you were specifically told not to take. I hope you don't order Propecia, and I hope some form of medication comes along that makes thinning something of the past. In the meantime, there are tremendous pictures and I'm assuming successful HT's that have been done on women. I would let your current HT grow out for a year, and then, based on all your knowledge you've gained through research, you'll pick a top doc and get an outstanding HT. Good luck. Manko
  2. Marlon, You may be a rare Bernstein disappointment. I also had two HT's (one 4 years ago, the other 6 years ago), they were not done by Bernstein, but the scar the first time was unnoticeable, the second scar is more noticeable, although lately it has become much smaller. I think your scar may be as a result of the number of surgeries. I hope in time your Bernstein HT thickens up, because from everything that I've read it seems like it can take over a year. Good luck. Manko
  3. Deadcactus, Just out of curiosity, how old are you? I think you look good for someone one month out. The picture of the hair fallout doesn't look bothersome, I get them all the time. It could just be the non-transplanted hairs naturally falling out or possibly some shock loss. I don't know anything about the doctor you used, but good luck with your results. Manko
  4. I read about this a few years ago, and I remember that the article said that if a straight haired persons HT starts to grow in curly/wavy, it will eventually straighten. It might've been after a few haircuts. Before Bernsteins open houses became so popular, I once attended a seminar with just two other guys, and he had mentioned the possibility of initial curl, but that it would straighten eventually. Just my 2 cents. Manko
  5. actually it's spelled thetkdkid. I just looked and you can still see his posts. Good luck. Manko
  6. There was a guy who posted with pics a few months back. His name was tkdkid. If you do a search on him, you should find his post with a link to his website. I think he's done pretty well with the chesthair. Manko
  7. Vocor1, I couldn't remember who suggested the keywest place, but I wrote it down a few months back, and I just ordered from them a few weeks ago. The package came the next day. I had put down enlarged prostate just to be safe. Thanks for letting us know about the site, and thanks for saving me some money. Manko
  8. Kenyon, I was using propecia, and paying $55 a month for my prescription, and then recently switched to proscar to save some money (as an aside, it seems like everytime I save money, the cable company takes my savings). Proscar is a slightly higher dosage of propecia (when you quarter it I believe it is a 25% stronger dose). Since I have done that I've definitely noticed a slower fall-out rate. I used to be able to run my hand through my hair and pull out a few hairs, but since I've switched I almost never pull out a hair. I'm not sure if it's just the cycle my hair is currently in, or if the increased dosage is doing the job. I'm thinking it's the increased dosage, but I might be wrong. Just my experience. Good luck. Manko
  9. UncJim, If Tiger did have an HT, it appears to be a damn good one. I'm pretty sure they had a round on TV yesterday and I just assumed it'd be on this weekend as well. Also, regarding Tom Arnold. I heard him on Howard Stern, and he's never been shy about admitting that he had HT work. But he did say that he would not recommend an HT, I think that has something to do with his results. His work was also done years ago, and I can imagine it's primarily minis/micros. Manko
  10. Uncjim I'm going to watch a little closer this weekend, of course he'll be wearing his hat, but maybe he'll win and then have his hat off. You might be right about him letting it grow longer, but I thought it was thinning as well. Manko
  11. I was just watching ESPN, and I'd swear Tiger Woods has gotten one. He was definitely thinning/receeding last year, and now his hair looks full and not receeded at all. Just wanted to post that while my little brain remembered it - I may have the worst memory on the planet. Manko
  12. skinnyvi, I think I just read an older thread this morning by Dr. Feller where he said it's basically 30% at 3 months, 40% at 4, 50% at 5, etc. You might want to do a search on that. Manko
  13. Vocor/UncJim, Thanks for the information. Vocor, that could make sense although I really don't know if Minoxidil might cause an infection. I remember reading one time to apply minoxidil an hour before bed so that it has time to be absorbed into the scalp as opposed to coming off on the pillow. Perhaps if it came off your pillow it may have inappropriately reapplied itself to the donor area (I sound like Minox has its own personality). UncJim, its getting real close, exciting and still nervewracking. Manko
  14. Vocor, Do you know what caused your infection? I'm just trying to anticipate any problems I might be able to avoid when my HT comes at the end of June. Thanks for your help. Manko
  15. Baldboy, Did you have any luck with the first HT? I'm a little confused by your earlier response about patience not working the first time. Manko
  16. baldboy, I've had two smaller HT sessions, and I think I experienced a lot of shock loss after the 2nd. I would say though that after 1 year the shocked hair was back and the grafts had also grown in at that point, but they were a non-issue because there was only 100 of them. You may just have to be more patient. Good luck. Manko
  17. Fabe, I read the thread and I don't believe it. It sounds way too dramatic. The guys wife left him????? I'd bet a 1000 dollars that it is a line of crap put together by a wig place. Way, way too dramatic. Manko
  18. Truckie, Are all your pictures 1 day? The only reason I ask is that the work looks real clean at 1 day, even for a smaller session. I'm sure you probably could've gotten a bigger session, but I think this particular smaller session will be pretty natural when it fills. I also think you'll probably want a second larger session with one of the really good docs from this site in about a year. Just to give you an idea, I'll be getting a 1000 FU in June, and it's really only to fill the hairline and fill in power alleys. My hairline could be filled in up to about 1 inch back and my temples/power alleys brought down slightly, hopefully to be a mature look. Good luck with your growth, and keep us informed. Regards, Manko
  19. I agree, that the math is odd and the higher fu/cm docs must be planning on doing a smaller area. I would probably go left to right - no particular reason. Manko
  20. Stanley, Sorry I didn't get your question until now. I do have pics, I just have to take the time to upload them. I might combine them into a before and after session. Hopefully, I'll have a chance to post before my surgery in 4 weeks. Manko
  21. Storm, I think I pay about $55 a month, however I'm going to have to switch to proscar because I feel like I'm throwing money away. Plus, my prescription runs out this month. Manko
  22. Joe, You look good, the women however look fantastic, especially the blonde. How many FU's did you have done, and who was your doctor. Good luck, Manko
  23. LL, My understanding is that the thick hair that falls out (whether from shock loss or just showering/combing) will grow back. The wispy hair that you probably don't see actually falling out is really the dead follicle. I could be wrong, but that is how I've understood it. Manko
  24. Pic, I was always under the impression that a non-balding person had 100 hairs per sq cm. But, and I think you probably dont want to hear it, the percentage of guys who don't experience any thinning is real small. I'm sure someone else will either confirm or dispute my number. Regards, Manko
  25. Matthew, Do you really think this is shock loss. He had his transplant a year ago, I thought any shock loss grew back in a one year time frame. I think it's kind of unusual. Huron mentions that the hair behind the transplant was thinning, and I thought that might just be genetic. Huron, I wouldn't worry too much about the transplanted hair, I would think that would definitely grow in. I think you're going to have to wait for your doctor to get back though to get some comforting answers. Just out of curiosity how many grafts did you wind up getting? Let us know how it works out. Manko
