  1. Micropose, Thanks, I just deleted it. Manko
  2. Irene, I apologize for that last post. Unfortunately, I had a party at my house last night, and my computer was obviously used by someone else. I would never post something like that. I'm very sorry, and I know the moron who posted that, and I'm going to let them know how much they embarassed me. I'm going to make sure I turn the computer off for the next party. On a more serious side, I really can't help you with your question, but I would think the good docs can handle most hair types. Good luck. Manko
  3. Fabe, As you know, I live in Jersey. I wouldn't go to Feller. I think Feller is good, but I think there's better, way better. I've spoken to a bunch of other docs, and they confirmed my Feller feelings. In my opinion, go west young man. MN, or BC, and when I say west, I mean only one doc in MN, and only 2 dosc in BC. Be smart. Good luck. Manko

    DOCTORS

DORIAN, YOU'RE READING THE BEST SOURCE FOR FINDING A GOOD DOCTOR IN LA. I WOULD DEFINITELY BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT LIMITING YOUR GEOGRAPHICAL SEARCH, BECAUSE THE BEST HT DOCS MAY NOT NECESSARILY BE IN LA. ALSO, WHEN YOU WRITE IN CAPS IT SEEMS LIKE YOU'RE YELLING. That's why I normally write in lowercase. Good luck. Manko
  5. Blake, You must like the dentist (twice in 3 months). I've only had a few ingrowns, probably no more than 3. My regrowth is strange, because it looks like regrowth starts with peachfuzz. My hair is kind of thick and slightly darker on the sides, and recently I've noticed a few wispy hairs with dark ends. Those are the transplanted hairs that just continued to grow instead of falling out. There aren't many of them, but they're kind of funny looking. It sounds like you're having good growth early. Good luck with that. Manko
  6. skinnyvi, I'd continue to be patient, it does seem like its case by case to see growth. Sadly, it sounds like it could take up to a year. I do think it is an extremely extremely rare case that an HT does not grow. I would say in the next few months you should have some sort of sprouts. Good luck. Manko
  7. blake, I would just call him fat, skip the potbelly it's too nice. Although I guess if that was the criteria, I would be getting called fat a lot. Just kidding, it sounds like you have too much class to respond to morons - good for you. How is the regrowth coming, I think you're a few weeks further along than I am. I'm noticing a lot of peachfuzz, but it's hard to tell, because I had some peachfuzz there originally. Good luck. Manko
  8. Haven't seen a post from him in a while. Kind of disappointing, because he's got one of the best stories going. Manko
  9. Haven't seen a post from him in a while. Kind of disappointing, because he's got one of the best stories going. Manko
  10. maverick, hair washing after the HT is nerve wracking. I was real gentle, like Joe said, for the first 5 days, after that let the shower hit your head. Now, at 8 weeks, it's a full wash and a full towel drying, and everything's fine. Be careful the first 4 days, after that you're alright. Good luck. Manko
  11. Magoo, I think someone posted recently where they had gotten the opportunity to see the body hair HT results, and I believe they felt that those hairs were noticeable. Not that the results weren't good, but there was a difference between head hair and body hair. From what I've read body hair does seem to take on most of the head hair characteristics, but only to a point. Along the same lines Dr. Jones in Toronto does body hair transplants, and if you look up TKDKID's posts, he has had body hair transplants done, and you can send him an e-mail as well and he's great at responding. Good luck. Manko
  12. Teddwds2, Great reading how your HT is coming along. I also had kept a bunch of my original HT hairs through close to 4 weeks, but alas, they did eventually leave. In fact, last night at 8 weeks after HT, another one left. I can tell which ones they are because the hair on the top of my head is slightly lighter than the side hairs and last night's was a 1cm dark hair. I look at them leaving as positive because that just means it'll be replaced by the next generation. At 8 weeks now, I have mostly unnoticeable peachfuzz, and still a little bit of pinkness. This is a trying time of the HT when basically all indications of the HT are gone, and none of the regrowth has substantially started. Oh well, it is exciting, and in certain aspects of life I'm real patient and I'm finding that waiting on an HT is one of those patient times. Mostly because what can you do. Good luck - great story. Manko
  13. bobc, A+ Excellent Work. I have to get up pretty early in the morning to slip math past this group. Good luck. Manko
  14. I believe that if you're going to swell up you're going to swell up. I've had 3 surgeries, and I have never swelled up in the slightest, and I did nothing to prevent swelling. I think its an individual by individual situation. Manko
  15. htpn, I waited until 4 weeks and had the sides cut down to a #4 and just a little off the top. I almost always get my hair cut every 2 weeks, so in keeping with that tradition I had my haircut 2 weeks later with a #3, and I'll have it cut again tomorrow with a #3. Now my question to you is how many weeks has it been since I had my HT. You didn't know there was math quizzes on this board? Good luck. Manko
  16. Pastor, I had staples, and they were sensitive while they were in. I never really touched them, except for the shower. Up to about 4 weeks the area was still sensitive and I didn't enjoy sleeping on my back, or even using the headrest in my car. Now at slightly past 7 weeks, I'm close to normal including regaining the lost nerve feelings on the top of my head. That was the strangest, but it is coming back pretty quickly lately. Good luck. Manko
  17. The pics make it kind of hard to tell because in some of them it looks like your hair may naturally be thin. Your recession is not terrible, and is actually sort of similar to my own. I had been receeding since 18, but it was sure taking it's time receeding. After 18 years I decided to have the hairline thickened and brought down slightly. I'm not sure if at 23 that's necessarily a good idea. I would let the meds do their work and if they work then good for you, but if you continue to recede, then you should be getting a better idea of your ultimate NW scale situation and at that time you may adjust your HT goals. If you could hold out till 30 that's probably best. Plus, I agree, as you get older other people care less and less. I'm now 36 and I would say that 95% of my friends still have almost all their hair. When I was in my early 20's they would break my chops, but now it's complete indifference, and my hair was just receeding in a mature fashion (my hair matured, I didn't). It is funny how in my 30's I would break my own chops about losing hair, and the same group of friends that tore me up in my 20's were telling me I was nuts. Good luck, and keep everything in perspective. Manko
  18. SWood/johnC, I'll still never go to Brandy. Way too many substantiated bad posts about that man. Danger, Will Robinson! Danger!. Manko
  19. Mahair, Your story is certainly compelling, however if a lawsuit is in your future, I believe you should find one of Arfy's posts on the likeliness of succeeding. It's an unfortunate reality that most HT lawsuits do not succeed. I still think you have to give your HT a year to really judge it properly. Your at a real bad time in the HT process right now (approx < 3 months if I recall), your shock loss sounds severe, your hairline may have been lowered too much, but you need to wait. I always read your posts because in my opinion your tone will eventually become more positive as your shocked hair returns and the HT softens. I will keep reading, and waiting for that transition and I really believe it will happen. I'm not saying at all that you'll have good HT results, I'm just saying that your current look should get better when post-HT effects abate. Good luck, keep us informed, and please be a little more patient. Manko
  20. Good God Ailene, I hope you're not Dr. Cooley's chief writer. Manko
  21. You might be right Arfy, I hadn't thought about him already having had multiple surgeries. It's pretty sad if he did, because you see some guys getting great results after a transplant or two. He probably was never a good candidate, but of course found the wrong doc to do the job. Manko
  22. Genes work in strange ways. I have a good friend who has incredibly thick hair, and he's 39. He probably never lost a single hair. His brother who is 33, lost all of his hair when he was about 20. It is unbelievable. Manko
  23. I'm surprised that Cage hasn't gone for a 2nd HT with a great doc. His current HT is terrible. He's probably afraid to get burned again. Manko
  24. bverotti, You are certainly in the minority as far as advising against taking the popular hair loss medications. I know you don't take them, and that is a choice you've made, but it does seem like the vast majority of docs do recommend the medications. In fact, I don't know a single doctor who doesn't recommend them. I'm sure they exist, I just don't know who they are. And why would the docs recommend them if they thought there was something lurking down the road. Good luck. Manko
  25. NJPUA, If nothing else, you certainly have a tremedous self impression. Good luck with the regrowth. Manko
