  1. Glad to know not all of the top docs require shaving of the recipient area. I've got long hair and it'd look pretty silly if I ended up with a reverse mohawk after surgery. Soon as I can get my hands on my digital camera I'll post some pics to see what everyone thinks might be a good option for me.
  2. Ok this thread is ancient, but figured I'd just say that while I've found sites with prices that are about the same, since they're in PA and I'm in MD, their 4.99 UPS shipping turns out to be overnight since I'm not that far. Good selection, very good prices and I'd definitely order from them in the future, GNC, Vitamin Shoppe etc just can't compete with online stores in terms of price most of the time. They do however provide a nice convenient way to get things. Unless you find a place that delivers next day for 5 bucks. Very good find. Thanks.
  3. lol You get what you pay for, buyer beware, too good to be true. All kinds of cliches are running through my head. That'll be a fun package for me to get. I'll report my findings as well, but I have a feeling its safe to say that it's probably worth the extra bucks for generics recommended on this board by Bill. How many days did it take for you to get your order? And are you in the US? Oh and are you going to actually take the pills or chalk it up to a loss and get some legit generics. After your post, I'm leaning towards the latter.
  4. Well based on others ordering from 4rx, I bit the bullet and did the same (at least I won't be the only sucker if it's a sugar pill. lol), but I'm not sure if the stuff ships from the UK or not, but it's definitely finasteride from India (said it on the online receipt).
  5. lol Apparently my reading comprehension is just dropping and dropping. All I have to say is duh and or my bad. I think I meant, recipient as opposed to donor, as it seemed that was implied in a few posts, but at this point I'll chalk it up to, I get punched in the head a lot and I was tired when I wrote it. lol Whomever I choose for my next HT will most definitely have to not shave the recipient area, and from what you wrote and everything else I've learned thus far on the board, I should be able to find a great doc who can handle that. Since joining this board I went from being sure I wanted a hair transplant and wanting to get some more info, to actually being excited about getting it done and finding the right Doc for my needs. I'm going to start up a new thread sometime here in the next few days to get opinions on what, who and how many, etc. Man it's hard trying to take a picture of your head with a cell phone camera. lol Back on topic, Morenewhair, just go with your gut. You've now got a bunch of real world opinions, but you're the only one who truly knows your situation.
  6. That's interesting about shaving the donor area. I never knew this and it wasn't done with my first ht or I'd have looked pretty silly (I have long hair). Hmm, definitely something to ask about when I go in for number two with a good doc. Always learning something new on this board. Glad I found it!
  7. Michaellovesnyc Guru Real Hair Club Member Posted September 19, 2007 08:45 PM ...Do you think some slut who is going to judge your self improvement is worth being a liar for? You'll be dumping her fat ass the second it grows in anyway and banging 17 year olds. And the same with this "crowd" you hang out with; they sound like a bunch of assholes and losers too. Get yourself some new friends. Why would you want people like that in your life anyway? I tell you, if you just tell people the truth, I can GUARANTEE you that you will get more positive comments than negative ones (if you get any negative ones at all).If you lie, you are just going to go to hell because thats a sin. Go in Christ dude. lol This isn't a serious response is it? You pass judgement on this guy, his friends, his girlfriend, tell him he's going to hell for lying and then tell him to "Go in Christ dude."? Not to mention you called guys who simply accept their baldness "freaks". I'm no theological scholar, but did you happen to miss the whole "Judge not, lest ye be judged" part of the bible? There are far more constructive ways to get your point across, but the way you put it makes you sound like a very angry, bitter person. And for the record, if he doesn't want anyone to know, depending on his hairstyle, nobody ever will know.
  8. I think I'm probably one of the few board members who actually wears their hair long. At Soft Core's age I didn't really have a problem with it thinning, etc, but having long hair and knowing what it's like to worry about it I can relate. Here are my thoughts: 1) If you decide to get a transplant now you will NEVER be able to shave your head, as Bill mentioned it will leave a long scar unless you do FUE. So that look will pretty much be out for you. 2) Post a picture of your receeding hairline. I think perhaps many people aren't really able to give you an accurate assessment without seeing what you're talking about. 3) The reason people are advising against a transplant now to fill in the missing areas is, that in 5 years it might be more than just a receeding hairline and if you've filled in the front you might end up with a patchy look elsewhere. Or worse, a fantastic hairline, 2" of baldness and then the rest of your hair. 4) I know people like to warn of the risks of Propecia, but give it a shot. I'd say it can't hurt, but well I'd be corrected. lol I never had any adverse effects on it and plan to get back on it ASAP. 5) Do your homework. Whatever you decide look ahead more than a couple months. Hell you might not be with the same band by next summer. And that hip, scruffy haircut you're rocking right now might be out of style in the near future, so don't do anything without being sure.
  9. Would you mind being the guinnea pig beachair? I saw them mentioned in another post and their prices seem really good, the site looks legit, but I'm scared of 2 things, getting ripped off and putting my CC info in cyberspace and getting placebos. Bill, are counterfit propecia, etc common? Having experience with steroids and such, that industry is chock full of fakes, so I'm always wary of that now with regard to hair loss "generics" from a site that the board hasn't given the thumbs up to.
  10. morenewhair1 Real Hair Club Member Posted September 19, 2007 02:21 PM Hide Post I might add that we have many mutual friends and I think its best just to not tell her. What if we break up and she spills the beans. I'd rather not chance that. Don't tell her and come up with a valid excuse why you can't see her for a few days. Heck a business trip will even make you seem important. lol If you don't want to do that, then I'd suggest coming up with a medical excuse, as I believe you mentioned. Say you had surgery or say you were working around the house, managed to slip off a ladder and crack your head open in the back which required stitches. Tell her you don't like how it looks and keep it covered up for a few days. Once the scabs have healed up and all you've got left is your incision show her that if you insist. Girls talk as much or more than guys. Sadly, she'll probably tell someone. Not because she's trying to be a jerk, but to her it won't be a big deal and she likes you as is, etc, etc. The end result will be your secret being out. And if you do breakup, it's just about guaranteed she'll tell someone. If you're not at the level where you're sure you can tell her and it won't be a big deal, then it's probably best to keep it to yourself. At some point later you can always tell her and I'm sure she won't be mad that you hid it from her. Good luck man.
  11. Robert or anyone else with experience, Couvre or Dermatch does one or the other come off more easily? I've used Couvre and recently ordered (but haven't yet received Dermmatch), and while I've been pleased with how Couvre disguises the thinning in my crown, it does seem to leave traces if you run your fingers through your hair, etc. I also compete and train in Jiu Jitsu and was rather mortified when rolling that some of my couvre left a subtle streak on someone's gi. It wasn't real noticeable, but I noticed and as I do dye my hair from time to time, had they noticed I'd have blamed it on that. Is Dermmatch better at not coming off? Either way I'm excited to try something new.
  12. If I can insert another point of view... While honesty is always the best policy, if you're not comfortable telling her, don't. I'm not sure what your work is, but depending you should be able to have a "business trip" come up or family emergency that takes you away for 10 days. You'll just have to weigh with your own conscience whether telling a little white lie is worth it or not. If she's "the one" then no harm in telling her, but if you're still not sure and want to keep it to yourself as much as possible, a little fib won't hurt. It's not like you're lying about seeing another woman. And if she does "bust" you, well come clean and tell her you were just unsure how to tell her, etc. Consider the other fellows on the board the angel on one shoulder and me the devil saying, "lie, go on, you'll feel better." lol FYI- Nobody knew I had it done aside from my one family friend who took me to and drove me home from the surgery. I scheduled mine around a week off from work and as far as I know, nobody has ever been the wiser.
  13. What prohormones were you taking? Many of them are legally classified as prohormones to skirt the Class 3 category of most steriods and have slightly different chemical make ups, but convert to an actual steriod once in the system. Which is why many of them find their way onto the governments no-no list fairly quickly. If getting on propecia isn't an option for you, get to using rogaine. Often many steroids and prohormones convert to DHT, so you want something that's going to combat the DHT. Sounds like if your twin's hair is just fine and yours isn't, it could most definitely be a result of what you're taking. Rogaine is super cheap now so get that and I'd look into propecia as well. Now that I'm no longer taking any form of supplements (aside from a buttload of caffeine, and occassionally ECY, and things like Super Pump, NoXplode), I plan on getting back to Propecia as I never had any adverse effects while on it.
  14. Because Propecia is a DHT inhibitor and testosterone (E or Cyp) increase production of DHT, therefore if you're taking a DHT inhibitor, while your hair should remain safe, you're basically wasting your money on the Test. Deca does not work through increasing DHT and is thought to be relatively mild on hair, however I have heard that if you're using Deca and on Propecia the combination is actually bad for your hair. Not sure about the truth to that one, but when I was "On" all I used was rogaine.
  15. Six weeks? Who told you this was a good cycle length? Because let's be honest, we're talking about steroids and not HRT when you mention 6 weeks. Furthermore, 6 weeks is in my opinion way too short. Especially depending upon what type of Test you go with. You may also want to do a bit of research on steriods and DHT. Not all steriods cause an increase in DHT related sides. Personally, while I don't think most folks should go the route of using steroids, I see no point in a 6 week cyle. Please tell us what form of Test you've considered and why you feel 6 weeks is your ideal cycle length. As far as personal experience the last cycle I ran was 14 weeks, and I front loaded oral Winni for the first few along with Deca. The combination had no effect on my hair, as that was my top concern and the reason why I chose the cylce I did. I blood work pre and post and recommend anyone else do the same. Post cycle my liver values were slighly elevated, but nowhere close to a dangerous level, my blood pressure was also up. I also never suffered from "deca dick" pardon the language, but it's a genuine phrase. Post cycle a good PCT should always be done, and while I had all the necessary goodies for one, I did a bit of experimentation, and didn't run one, no ill effects on libido, etc. In the end I decided that while I did enjoy the strength boost "ON", I really didn't need them for size, i was pretty big anyway, while I suffered no permanent health related sides, the risk is defnitely there, and now that I train and compete in BJJ, MMA they're clearly a violation of the rules and I'm no cheat. On my level of competition nobody gets tested, but it's the principle to me. Also don't use Propecia when using steriods, use a topical.
  16. NoBuzz, thanks for the reply and the info on Dr. Vogel. Pushing 40, thanks for the offer, when it comes time for my surgery if I do go out of state, I might just take you up on that offer. Come to think of it I might just go play with a staple gun tonight based on what B Spot had to say. lol Thanks to everyone who's responded so far. I'm really glad I found this forum. Seems like a really nice place, with really nice people, that just happens to have lots of great information. I don't know about you guys, but I'm on forums with some of my other interests and so many of those have idiots talking down to one another, etc, etc. Clearly this is not a board like that and I'm glad to be here. Thanks for making me feel welcome!
  17. Thanks for the response Bill. I actually did read Pat's account of his visit to Dr. Vogel's and found it very insightful. I also found your journals of your HT surgeries to be really helpful as well. Your last surgery and the documentation of it definitely has me thinking that waiting a bit until I can get away, to ensure that I get exactly what I want. I'm hoping that with 1 more surgery I'll be done and content. That might not be realistic though. Was I overly sleepy when I read your account or did you say you removed the staples yourself? Which brings me to another concern, IF something goes wrong traveling out of state seems like it would be hard to do, same with follow ups? Or do you get a local follow up?
  18. What's the point? I don't mean that in a disrespectful or dismissive way, I'm truly curious as to why you would want to undergo such surgery when there are far cheaper and far more natural ways to go about it. Not to mention ones that don't require you to wait months for them to look or feel right. Options: 1) Do you lift? Do you lift seriously? Do you eat like someone who lifts should? 2) If you do all of the above I'd be surprised if your arms weren't where you wanted them, but (and I don't advocated any of this mind you) you can site specifically inject Synthol to give your arms a more full look. Gregg Valentino is a horrible example of synthol abuse, but many bodybuilders do it without anyone noticing. The idea is to make your arms fuller, not make them look silly. 3) A hair loss board isn't the best place to mention them, but anabolics are one avenue to go. When done properly and without extremely high doses they can be quite effective at enhancing ones physique. 4) If you're doing tons of bicep curls and your "guns" just aren't showing up, try doing more triceps exercises. The triceps is far larger than the biceps an is usually what gives the arm an impressive size. Unless you're planning on walking around flexing your biceps all the time, making your triceps bigger is what's really going to add inches and fill out those tshirt or polo sleeves. 5) If you're doing this to impress the ladies, don't waste your money. At my "prettiest" I was 5'11", 165lbs and very lean. Did I mention I had rockstar hair more than halfway down my back? Anyway, I'm 32 now and lift big, eat big, train in MMA and I'm 255lbs. I'm way more muscular and the only people who really seem to give a sh%t about how big my arms are (20")are guys. lol Girls mainly could care less. I still get plenty of attention from girls, but having big arms, being "huge" doesn't do it for most women. So if it's for the ladies, again I say save the money join a gym and get that diet in order.
  19. Thank you both for the well wishes, as for my dad traveling with me, he's not bed ridden, but he has dementia as a result of his stroke and it's hard to get him to go anywhere. As for doctor Vogel, I was reading up on him on the board and he certainly seems to be the most highly regarded in state. My only concern is that it was mentioned that he doesn't like to do a high number of grafts, etc. I may just wait until I've got care for him or at least can get someone to keep an eye on him, and go north of the border. I was quite impressed with Bill results and the sheer size of his last surgery. His results are truly impressive from where he started. Vanity sure is a pain in the butt sometimes.
  20. Good morning all! I just found this board a few days ago and have used the find feature and have found it quite helpful, but I still have questions and I'm hoping you guys can help me out. Here's some information about me: I'm 32 yrs old, have had one HT about 5 yrs ago through MHR in Chevy Chase MD (wasn't real satisfied, but don't feel they butchered me either), I have long hair, and compete in Mixed Martial Arts and Jiu Jitsu. Currently I can pull my hair back and disguise the fact that it is fairly thin on the crown, but I want to eliminate the need to do this and eliminate the need to keep my hair long. It was fine when I was younger and I still like long hair, but competing in grappling it gets yanked and broken and it would just be much easier to have it shorter. On to the main part of my question... The reason I'm seeking a place around me is that I take care of my father, who's had a stroke and he just cannot be left unattended overnight and I'd like to have the procedure done and be home in the evening to make sure he's ok. If there aren't any really good places in my area, well I'll figure something out, but in my current situation that would be one less thing to worry about. Also, if it will make any difference as to recomendations, I can attempt to take pictures of the areas I want "fixed" with my cell phone cam. I'm probably one of the few people left who hasn't got a digital camera. Thank you in advance for any help, advice or guidance you can provide.
