I know my doctor took donor hair from an area that even if I did progress to a 6 would be safe. I don't know of too many qualified docs who would want to do the incision high on the back of your head just for this reason. I have heard many great things about Feller and my doc actually trained under him and got his own transplants from Feller as well. The area they usually take donor hair from is in the safe zone that even if you would progress to a 6 you would be safe

your donor area should most likely be an area that is not predestined to fall out. I think Arfy might have been talking about the hair on top of your hair or to prevent shock loss around the donor area. I was always told that the donor area is permanent hair that will be around forever. correct me if I'm wrong of course but I believe this is true

my doctor, Alexander, used lateral slit and also used very small, .7 mm to .9mm depending on the graft size. It was my third HT and I healed faster in my recipient area than any of my other two. He densed packed 2500 gratfs near the front, so am hoping for some good results with his technique as well

Robert-I saw that you use nioxin and nizoral, alternating days of use. I am just 4 weeks post op, is this a regiment that I could use right now? saw some people scared of using nizoral so soon after a HT. any advice would be great! thanks a lot -
my doc told me i could start taking minoxidil one week post op, why are you waiting a month?

anyone know of a good vitamin supplement to take that could help with the growth of a ht? what vitamins are good to take? maybe just a good ol' multivitamin? any suggestions would be great!

very interesting! what is Lysine and where do you get it? I ehard that nizoral is good but you should only use a couple of times a week. The nioxin I use isn't to try and grow new hair just keep the scalp very clean for ultimate growing of the transplants. I appreciate your opinion and look forward to others opinions. thanks tkerr22

I have heard great things of Dr. Feller as well from my doctor, Scott Alexander. he studied with Feller and I believe went to Feller for his own transplant. Have heard great things from him and he rubbed off well on my doc. only 4 weeks post op so don't know what the results are yet, but he seemed very genuine and really cared about what he does. He and Feller practice the same techniques so will be interested in the results from Feller patients as well

am almost 4 weeks post op now and have started using nioxin daily and just ordered nizoral. think I read on here somewhere that it would be good to do nioxin4 times a week and nizoral 3 times? not sure, any suggestions would be great!

went to the doc and he checked out my donor area and said that it was shock loss in the donor area and said it was around where the stitches were in. He said just like above post said that not sure why it happened but for some reason those follicles didn't agree with the stiches there and were most likely irritated and fell out, thus shock loss. He said to put minoxidil on it but most likely it should grow back in 4 months or so. So hopefully all will be good and the area will grow back nicely. time will tell, stupid time!

anyone ever heard of this?, stumbled across it on the web. says it has 15% minoxidil in it! not sure what it is or if anyone has heard anything about it. Let me know, check out the site. [promotional link removed by forum moderator - Robert]

I have eased back on the 5% to just once a day except for the crown area. Do you think using it could harm my transplanted hairs, they have all pretty much fallen out already and the doc said yo use it to prevent shock loss, but with them all pretty much fallen out should I continue to use the minoxidil on the transplanted area? If not maybe I will just use on the crown area. any advice would be great, thanks about the website will look at it, is the minoxidil without alcohol as good? thanks again

When i wake up in the morning my head is peeling like crazy, how long should I take the minoxidil on my whole head? was thinking about just using it now on the crown area or should I continue to use it on my whole head? Just not sure if I like the peeling head look or if that is really good for me. any thoughts would be appreciated

I heard good things about Keene in Tucson, I went to Alexander in phoenix and he was awesome as well! great guy and great staff that really care! I suggest you look him up too if you are thinking about a transplant as well!

well, it's nearing the week week post op and am noticing a lot of those hairs falling out now, wish they would've hung in there but they are going bye bye. I am truly in the ugly phase right now and am looking forward to the shockloss in my donor area growing back and all those little guys that are falling out to come back with renewed vigor!!!!!

my hair looks very similar to yours even after the two week period, thank you for your comment, do you think minoxidil would spped up the appearacne of hair there?

can maybe putting minoxidil on it spped up the hairs coming back quicker around the scar?

my donor scar looks fine but just below the red line there is some area with no hair, recently buzzed my hair short and you can really notice this bald area just below the incision line, almost patchy spots. is this normal for being just over 2 weeks post op? will the hair grow back in this area, is this possible shock loss around the donor area? just concerned and unsure, any feedback would be great.thanks
