  1. hairscout, You said that you felt that I was the only one saying laser combs have worked for them. I simply pointed out how that was not the case because to me it felt like you were attacking my credibility. I'm not here to have a war about how many people think it works and how many think it doesn't. However I will point out that most of your quotes are from members who NEVER used a laser comb and are simply posting their opinions based on other opinions of people who never used it and so on. That can never compare to someone who actually used a product. Also one of your quotes: OK. Let's read that again. He used it for a couple of months. He says the hair feels nicer and fuller. Sounds like it's working to me. That's not bad for only a couple of months. Then he stopped using it and says the effects wore off. Hmm... effects wore off... meaning there was something positive happening while he was using it. But they wore off afterwards... Well... yes, of course. That would be the same as minoxidil, propecia, or anything else that might grow hair. Once you stop using it you will lose the effects. That doesn't have anything to do with what was happening when he WAS using it. You can't expect something to work while you aren't using it. So, thanks. I'll add that to my list of people who say they got positive results.
  2. That's not true. Here are some posts from this forum. Artman502 Two good friends have used it for a litle under 2 months and are already seeing results ---------- YODA Posted September 06, 2007 09:42 PM All the proof I need is growing out of the top of my head. You can read post after post after post from guys like me saying it Works, or guys like Dr. Feller saying it's Hogwash. You won't really know until you try it yourself. YODA After being on laser therapy, the quality of my hair improved greatly, more vibrant, thicker, even more less fall out than when i was on the other parts of my treatment alone and it even allowed me to cut back from 1.0mg of Dutas a day to only 0.5 and twice daily application of minoxidil to only once I tried that before and got a massive shed. Not only haven't I shed this time, my hair is actually becoming thicker and fuller..... before laser therapy i was only maintaining what i had...now, I've cut my drug intake in half, added LLLT and i'm gaining hair! It's LLLT therapy...it works for me at least... ------------ rodfl Posted May 24, 2006 10:13 PM The Hairmax laser comb does work and I have used it for four years now----While it may not regrow you a full head of hair---while using it with propecia it has prvented me from losing my hair ---------------- toofunnyman It is too early to report much about the laser comb at this point but it is making my hair more manageable and healthier. I have been using it for one month ---------- Harve Posted May 19, 2007 09:57 AM Hey guys, I purchased a laser comb a few months ago.(I can't remember how many) But I have been using it regularly, every other day for 10 minutes at a time. I can honestly say that I see improvement in my hair. I've had transplants in the front so that hair is healthy, but the hair behind it was getting very thin and wispy, increasingly revealing my scalp. I was even considering a possible 5th!! procedure to put some more hair in this area. However, I have noticed THAT hair is covering my scalp better after using the laser comb. It is thicker and stronger. I should include also that I believe at least a few dormant follicles have been jump-started too. Those who've had transplants know that when your transplants start sprouting hair, you can often feel the little prickly hair, sort of like a whisker. I believe I've had a few of these "jump-started" follicles in the area where I use the laser. It's not like there everywhere, but I have noticed a few. I've used topik to fill in this area and I've noticed that I'm using less now. So I just wanted to offer my experience using the comb. I also use propecia. I think the two work great together. ---------- nickcpa88 Posted February 14, 2006 06:48 PM I have been using the laser comb for approximately 5 months and have seen improvement in the density & thickness of existing hairs on my head. Now I wasn't expecting this to be a miracle cure for baldness, but I figured every little bit helps - and this has to some extent. ---------- buddyebsen Posted February 14, 2006 06:57 PM I have used a homemade lasercomb since Nov 1 and I can attest to Dr. Bauman's obervations that it has improved the quality of my hair and so far has reduced any shedding almost entirely. ----- finnari Posted May 22, 2007 06:48 PM I to noticed an "improvement" in the way my hair looked after laser for six months.
  3. Works for me. I don't think you're going to find anyone who has ever tried it to know if it works However the idea is that it's the laser light energy that does the trick, not just any kind of light.
  4. I think some of the confusion may be because of the names. The Coalition list of members pay to be listed. Then there's a recommended list. This sounds like we have sponsors (coalition) but here's who we actually recommend you go to (recommended list). When you look at it as someone who doesn't spend a lot of time on this forum (or newbies) it's not hard to see why they would have the view that we put anyone into the coalition who pays. It also sounds like those Doctors are not who we really think are the best Doctors because the other list contains the "recommended" Doctors. I think we should seriously consider changing the name of the recommended list to something else with some sort of a disclaimer that it is a 2nd best list if you are unable to have your HT done by an elite coalition Doctor.
  5. Hmm... notgoing2gobald is from San Diego. He must have gone to UCSD. That would explain some things.
  6. A laser comb is not a hair transplant. You're not going to go from NW 4 to looking like you have a full head of hair in 9 months. OK, so tell me... are you using minoxidil or propecia? I see too many posts about how laser combs don't work from people who use minox or propecia and admit they don't see much or any growth from those, but keep using them because surely they must be halting or at least slowing their hairloss. Well if that's fine for minoxidil and propecia, why is it so bad if a laser comb does the same? Wouldn't it actually be better because there's no side effects with a laser comb? Do you people have to have side effects to believe something is working? I don't get it. Can someone explain this to me? I've been using a laser comb for almost 6 months now and I've gotten more growth with the laser comb, propecia, nizoral combination than I ever had with anything I tried in the last 22 years INCLUDING some of my HT procedures.
  7. josh, those last 2 pictures show your hair loss a lot more. The first one didn't look so bad. This might be a great time for you to have a HT because you still have enough hair to cover the work while it's healing.
  8. Some of us can't contribute many answers to your questions because we are in our own twilight zone... never ending horror movie I should say. We can't style our hair at all. Not even the anchorman side part can cover our baldness and scars after many hair transplants. It's as if Moses stretched out his hands and parted our hair so that all that remains is a few strands on the bare bed of scalp. Our story started long ago and no longer has meaning to those who are recent hair transplant recipients and hair mop wannabees. Some of us are doomed to only experience hair fetish from afar and never able to love thy own hair style. What's that you say? Repent oh sinner of plugginess and large grafts. For you shall find comfort in repair techniques.... but no, it is not to be. For it is written that hair seeks hair, to have hair requires hair. To move hair across the barren land there must be hair growing abundant in the low lying fields for taking. But that is not to be, for God has struck down the follicle. God has made it known that no growth shall ever come from replanting of follicular units on the holy ground and he shall leave additional scar marks to remind us each time we try to go against him. We shall wander the earth for many years in search of peace and hair, but we will never reach the land of the hair mop.
  9. Magnolia, If you're sure it's your ovaries that are causing the problem then why not think about having them removed after you have the baby. I realize that's a difficult thing to do for some women, but you will already have a child (don't know if you have others) and if it solves the problem, then maybe you should think about it.
  10. Hi johnnyg Propecia and Proscar both have the same active ingredient which is finisteride. Propecia is a 1mg finisteride pill and Proscar is a 5mg finisteride pill. Although I sometimes say Propecia I actually use Proscar cut in quarters. Many people on these forums do the same. You get the same drug at a much cheaper price. I take a 1/4 pill about every other day or so.
  11. If you tell her and she thinks it's a dumb idea or that you don't need it then ask her how she would feel if her breasts were getting smaller every week. Would she be ok with slowly losing her breasts until she didn't have any or would she want to do something about it.
  12. Well you have to realize that you eliminated just about anyone who would have regrets in your initial question. You didn't want to hear from anyone who had a HT done years ago or any recent HT that had poor results. You're only asking people who feel they had excellent results. Why would they regret doing it? It's the people who had bad results or more hair loss over the years who may have some regrets. How do any of the people who had recent excellent results know how they will feel in 5 years after more hair loss? Of course they feel great now. The way you asked your question made the only possible answers be the ones you received.
  13. Bill, I'm using just what I said at the end of my post above. 1. Proscar every other day (although I've been cutting it down to every 3 days once in a while) 2. Nizoral shampoo every day 3. Laser Brush once a day, every day for between 8 to 12 minutes each time. I've been using both Proscar and Nizoral for somewhere around 10 years. They are the only 2 things I've used in the last maybe 6 or 7 years until I started with the laser brush a few months ago. I've gotten a small amount of growth over the years with just Proscar and Nizoral, but the few that grew long were mostly very fine, thin hairs. Other hairs never got past the tiny almost invisible hair stage and would fall out quickly, but they kept regrowing back the same way. I figured if the laser brush was able to thicken the existing thin hairs and keep the small ones in a growth phase a little longer then I'd have an overall better look. So far it's done that and more because I'm definitely getting new growth. My crown is filling in and the sides are coming forward (temple areas) Just the temple growth is making the frame of hair on my face look better. I think that's why I'm getting the "Are you losing weight?" questions. As for pictures, I tried to take some back in the 1st month, but they didn't turn out very clear and are pretty much useless. I realy wish I tried harder at the picture taking now because they would certainly show an improvement if I took clear ones then and now. I'll try to take some good ones this week if I can. I seem to have trouble taking pics of my own hair.
  14. I'm getting new growth all over my head. I'm at about 4.5 months of use now and it's starting to get noticeable by others. I've been getting comments like "You hair looks shiny today", "Have you been losing weight?", "Are you using a new conditioner on your hair", and yes I did get one person I hardly know say "You have more hair since the last time I saw you". That made my day! I just hope the growth continues. I'll keep using the laser brush every day along with Proscar every 2 or 3 days and Nizoral daily.
  15. I checked out the web site. It's the same output as Hairmax and others (650nm, 5mw) so it should be fine. It has 9 lasers. This sounds like a good deal at $80. It's low enough to try it out to see if it works for you without breaking the bank. The reason Hairmax and Sunetics are so expensive is because they put a lot of research and have a lot of Drs on their "board" to make it look like a better product. I think you're better off going with the less expensive option. Mine is more of a laser brush that I got for around $119 (I can never remember the exact price) from another company. It's been working well for me. The one you mention has both a battery operated option and a plug in option. I prefer plugging it into an outlet because I feel with batteries you don't always get the full output power. It's great to have the battery option though for occasional using it while watching TV or something, but I would try to use the cord as much as possible. Just my opinion. i use mine just about every day. I always see recommended to use it about 3 times a week, but I feel it's been giving me better results with every day use. also use it on a clean scalp after taking a shower and your hair has just dried. This way there is no buildup on your scalp that would block some of the laser light from getting into your skin as there would be if you used it at the end of the day. EDIT: I should also add that it definately works better for me in combination with propecia about every other day.
  16. Too much blow drying on high heat settings or using a curling iron or crimping iron too long or too often will make your hair very brittle and the hair shafts will break easily. They will either break in half or you get split ends. She needs to stop doing all of that for a while and let the hair grow out.
  17. notgoing2gobald OK, so I see your real question is if you turn out looking like Shuffle after your HT, will Jessica Alba date you. I think the answer will be no. Why not send her some of those HT links and let her pick out which hair style and result she likes best. Then go to H&W and say "I need to look like this."
  18. Some people like to think they are smarter than they really are. How do they know they can tell the HT hairlines from natural hairlines when they are only studying high resolution still pictures of hair transplanted hairlines? The next time someone says to you that they can tell the difference, ask them how many times they saw high res photos of natural hairlines. I mean seriously, even if you can tell by studying an close up shot for a few minutes, how many times have you ever done that to someone in person? It doesn't happen.
  19. synthetic hair transplants are illegal in the USA because of the problems and complaints that were happening as a result of having it done. I looked into doing this as one of my options because it was still being done then. It was banned right after that. They attach hair (could be real or fake) to tiny aluminum (or similar. Maybe plastic) tips. Sort of like putting a small piece of metal around the end of the hair and crimping the metal so the hair stays on it. Then they make the slits in the donor area and put the hair "grafts" in so the metal ends are in your scalp. After a few days the healing of the holes they made will grow around and over the metal tips, so they can't come out. You end up with several thousand little pieces of metal/plastic/whatever they use in your head. The hair doesn't grow because it's fake, so it's always the same length. Over time natural occurrences such as combing your hair, strong winds if your hair is being blown around, shampooing your hair, etc slowly makes the implanted hairs come out, many times leaving the tips lodged in your head. After maybe 2 years you need to go back to do an overall fill in to replace all of those that fell out. This includes surgically removing any of the pieces that remain lodged into your scalp. After you do that a few times your head will be so scarred... and you have to continue going back for a refill every few years forever. You'll also have to deal with small infections on an ongoing basis because of having 4000 little pins in your head constantly. Your body doesn't like that and will keep trying to reject them. That leads to pain and stinging when you try to comb your hair or when someone puts their hands through your hair. Nearly everyone who was going through this process eventually had them all removed for one reason or another (money, infections, pain, etc). Then you are left with a bald head full of scars which makes it harder to have a real hair transplant which you should have done in the first place. Did I convince you not to go this route yet?
  20. A lot of people have a good amount of long thick hair in their underarms. I've been thinking about doing body hair transplants because I don't have any donor hair left on top. I actually want to put some hairs into the donor area to fill in some scars. I started using a laser comb though and decided to give it at least til the end of the year to see how that goes before I think more about doing BHT. Flap surgery will mess you up bad. We won't even have to go there to rough you up. The flap surgery will do that for us.
  21. Unfortunately I just kept circling through items 1 to 5 over and over. Would have been nice to get to #8 just once.
  22. Worked for me. Started taking Proscar around 1997. Still taking it currently, but at lower dosage (every other day. Sometimes every 3 days) I had very slow hair growth over the 10 year period which is much better than the rapid hair loss I was having prior to using it.
  23. Glock, You are a pro. You know exactly how to make a promise to satisfy your wife, keep the promise to her, and still have fun looking at all the hot BRUNETTE babes on the beach! LOL
  24. Hair2stay, I don't want to put you down, but damn dude! If you didn't tell me it was pluggy I probably wouldn't have noticed. I think your hair probably looks a lot better to other people than it does to you because you are looking at it trying to find every little detail that might be wrong with it. Maybe it looks a bit worse in reality than it does in pictures, because I know that's sometimes the case with mine. If I hold my head up from 5 feet away my hairline looks pretty good in pictures, but still I think you might be trying to compare other hair transplants to your own and are being too critical. I think you need a dose of reality. You need to look at some pictures of some truly bad HTs. I would LOVE to have the hair you have. Yes it's horrible that you had to have repair surgery for a not so great HT, but it looks like it's turning out better than it was and at least you had enough donor hair to actually have a repair! Some of us aren't so lucky. You have to realize that it will never fall or comb exactly the way it once did when you had your natural hair there.
