  1. Dr. Cooley said to start the massage after one week. Any bleeding, wait a few days. I massaged for a few minutes (was late for work) and the scabs started flaking off once i got out of the shower. I had PRP and I honestly think day 7 was perfect for working the scabs off.
  2. Tomorrow (Monday) marks the 7th day since my HT on the 22nd. I think it's safe now to massage my scalp with shampoo with the pads of my fingers? If that's true, I'll be in the shower for about two hours!
  3. Just posted pics through day 4 post op in my blog. Looks like my healing process is in line with others here that have used PRP.
  4. I'm currently at the end of the second full post op day and my grafts are itching like a mo fo. Any tips to relieve? Some kind of spray perhaps since I don't think I can rub anything on at this point. The Regenex spray that Dr. Cooley cooked up works, but only temporarily until it dries.

  6. Thanks everyone for the well wishes. After nearly six months of pouring over all the posts and blogs here, to have finally taken the step is a bit surreal!
  7. What a fantastic experience. Dr. Cooley and his entire staff have tremendous patience, a keen attention to detail, and great senses of humor! Check out my blog for pictures.

  9. I got nearly 200 extra grafts from Dr. Cooley (today in fact!) and there was no additional charge.
  10. So I've not been disciplined enough to keep up with my scalp excercises. My first procedure is this Monday. I have average to slightly below average laxity and above average density (100 fu/cm2) in the donor region. I'm having 2000 grafts. Anyone think that not having done the excercises will be a big deal?
  11. Thanks, guys. My surgeon will be Dr. Cooley. I've heard he knows a thing or two about this whole crazy HT thing!
  12. How long does the hair on the back of the head need to be to conceal a donor scar immediately post op? I had the sides and back of my head trimmed with a #6 guard a week and a half ago and will have my procedure in just under three weeks.

  14. Latinlotus, Did Dr. Cooley put saran wrap on your head on day two as well (after your followup visit and hair washing)? I'm flying back home the day after my procedure and want to be prepared if I get to have saran wrap head going through airport security!
  15. Tony, Have you thought about creating a blog? I (and others I'm sure) would love to hear about your experience with Dr. Cooley and his staff.
  16. I find that it hurts my neck after a while. Maybe I'm doing it too hard?
  17. Latinlotus, How long did your procedure take? I'm in Dr. Cooley's chair for 2,000 grafts as well a month from today.
  18. I'm one month out from my first HT. Doing 2,000 grafts with 100 FU per cm2 in my donor area and average to slightly below average donor laxity, according to the doc. How important is it that I do scalp exercises? I've found them a bit annoying!
  19. So you're saying I shouldn't need to take the pain meds by day two? That'd be super nice.
  20. I'm having my first HT in December and will be flying to and from the doctor's practice. Any tips for flying under the influence of pain meds and/or valium for the trip back...and also going through security in such a condition? I'll have a travel partner but I'm still wondering a bit about what the regulations are - if any - for this kind of thing.

  22. I just had treatment 4 out of 8 for laser hair removal on the anterior side of my neck. Used to get ingrown hairs and don't so much anymore. The nurse said that 8 treatments is average, but that they'd do as many as needed to get rid of all the hair (this might be specific to my clinic). It can be expensive though. I got my foot in the door during a special promotion.
  23. Of course hair transplant doctors are making money...they have to eat just like you do (though perhaps a tastier meal!). The founders of this website charge the doctors that do work worthy of joining their Coalition. It makes it possible to maintain the site, a site with quite a bit of traffic. Would you rather they charged you as a member to cover their operation costs? As far as hair transplants being a scam, did your doctor explain the concept of realistic expectations? Did a coalition doc perform both of your procedures?
  24. Hey all, Is anyone here considering postponing an upcoming HT procedure due to the US's current economic climate? Seems like a tough time for elective surgery!
