  1. No, Rassman basically pioneered FUE and has the publications to prove so. Some interesting reading on Woods: http://www.baldingblog.com/2006/02/02/woods-technique-and-fue/ http://www.baldingblog.com/2005/09/16/the-woods-technique/
  2. Anyone have experience with or know anything about John Diep, new surgeon at NHI Los Angeles? Also, why is Rassman not a member of the Coalition if Bernstein is? I found his baldingblog to be an incredible resource for research before my transplant, and his surgical results seem outstanding and consistent. Just wondering....

  4. Thanks for your post. I had nearly 1200 grafts a few weeks ago and was thinking much the same thing in the days leading up to my transplant. Look forward to your photos....
  5. pushing40, interesting comments. i'd say no one is probably more conservative and cautious about undertaking such an irreversible surgical procedure as this than me. this forum was invaluable to me during a long research process, and one of the reasons i wanted to document my case publicly was because there were very few examples here of people who hadn't lost too much hair but were old enough to consider getting a procedure. i thought it might be instructive to show what could be done for someone with my degree of hair loss who wasn't too young, rash, or badly informed to seriously consider going forward with a transplant. interesting that you could tell from my pics that i have a young-looking face, too...lol.
  6. I certainly understand that argument and weighed it very carefully, though what had been my mature hairline had been slowly fraying and moving upward for the last 5 years. I'm certainly staying on Propecia, and since my hairloss hasn't been precipitous so far, I hope that will slow down any further loss, especially as things proceed backward from the hairline region. The native densities left in the transplanted zone were well under 5%.
  7. Sorry if this should have gone in the patient gallery section. In any event, I thought it would be useful to have another Dr. True thread w/ photos, ??? la Bill, who's done an excellent job of documenting his progress photographically....
  8. Some background: 34 years old, started Propecia 2+ years ago, began receding in the front at age 28-29. Diagnosed as 3V, possible 5/5A. FUT 1150 grafts to the hairline at attempted density of 40-50 FU/sq. cm. depending on what native hair was left. Painless surgery, no swelling, redness and 80% of scabbing gone from recipient area within a week, redness from donor area virtually imperceptible at 3 weeks. So far the experience has gone as well as I could expect and I've been very impressed with the True/Dorin clinic, pending final results of course....
  9. You really should've been advised to get on Propecia before the transplant. There aren't myths surrounding the drug--you need to get on it and stay on it for life if you're serious about keeping your hair. I'm afraid at your age and w/o having taken it that your transplant could shock out even more hair that might've had its miniaturization reversed by being on Propecia. Get a prescription and start taking it, and don't let money be an excuse. You won't miss the dollars when hair that could've been saved is gone....
  10. Spirall, Doing a search for Dr. Law on this site, I found the following entry: "Hey BStephens. I live in the New York area and recently had a repair done by Dr. Alan Feller. I am about 2 months post op. My original was done by Dr. Law in NYC and it looks very pluggy. When I went for a consult with Feller, I was suprised when he told me he had a transplant himself and let me run my hands through it. Totally natural. Then another of his patients was coming in for suture removal from his second HT with Feller. His hairline looked completely natural as well. At that point I was feeling so stupid I hadn't come to Feller in the first place, but was also relieved that I found some one to correct my work. The next 6 months or so will tell how I turn out. You should check out his website: www.fellermedical.com None of his pics do justice to what his work looks like in real life. Thats what you have to do. See the work in real life. I made the mistake the first time of only looking at pics and thinking that all HT docs on this website were of comparable skill. Do a consult with Feller, and do what ever other research you need to do. If you don't have much donor hair left, you really have to make this one count." If you're unhappy with your results, maybe a consultation w/ Feller, True, or Bernstein is the next step. Given your pattern of loss, it looks as if a great many more grafts could've been transplanted--hard to say w/o seeing your hair grown out to full length. You also seem a bit young to be having such minimal work done. Are you on Propecia, or were you counseled to begin using it 6-9 months before your transplant? Keep doing your homework with resources such as this forum, and make a more informed decision next time if you are unpleased with your results. Good luck!
  11. Karan, I wouldn't be directing my questions exclusively to jagdish. I've been more of a lurker on this forum thus far than anything else, but I found this whole thread interesting b/c you really don't seem to have done your homework, and it also sounds like you are getting bad medical advice about the drugs you've started taking. DO NOT get a hair transplant in India, PERIOD. Forget about finding a HT doctor in India, and come to the United States or Canada for your procedure(s). Also, if your doctor there is telling you to take finasteride only twice a week, you are receiving very bad medical advice. You need to take finasteride **EVERY DAY** for it to work for you, and you should preferably be taking Propecia manufactured by Merck in the USA, not a generic equivalent manufactured in India.
