  1. I had some early HT growth..it began at 8 weeks and progressed through 16 weeks, I think this gradual new-growth was nice, because it seemed less suspicous. After month 4 the new-ness pretty much was over....and after the shedding, alien forehead etc... I was rewarded with better hair......I miss that new hair sprouting feeling already...but am very happy with my improvement and dont need to quite have Elvis hair. Of course..then again maybe I could find some blue suede shoes ??
  2. Dr. Rose, I actually "Lost" chest hair at higher doses of Proscar....no big deal..its resolved..just kinda odd I guess.
  3. Question for a Dr., When I 1st started using Proscar, I began cutting 5MG in half to 2.5 MG, thinking this would jumpstart my dht killing progress just a bit faster than cutting into quarters 1.25MG. It seems at the 2.5 MG dose I noticed knee ache's..and to a lesser extent lost some chest hair ??..Crazy as it sounds when I reduced the dose to 1.25MG..<like I was supposed to>...the side effects went away....needless to say I had no loss of libido. Is knee swelling or body hair loss..somewhat common side effects of Finastiride??? In closing I have found the drug effective in holding onto my hair <including HT hair>

  5. Those questions are very valid Mike is asking..if in fact you happened to be one who DID have trouble, it would be wise to know this info....Hopefully you will have excellent results !!!! I think as time goes on the liabilty structures will be further enforced..perhaps to the point where the law will require an MD...But I think Big Joe will have given you a great HT..and good luck!!!
  6. I have seen Burt Reynolds..recent HT..and I have to say..it does looks fantastic..exceptionally natural and a BIG BIG improvement over the hideous wigs he has worn in the past.
  7. Andy, You will have success, give it 5-6 months, after possibly the swollen forehead, some shedding and wondering when will it grow?...you will then see a nice improvement, worthy of your wait. I am 40 and cant believe how fast and strong my "newly" redistributed hair grows..it does take 5-6 months to really come together fully...Take care..!!!
  8. Mario I agree with your analagy of Joe Greco not having full credentials..ie DR.....but it is true he may well have far more skill at HT than several true Dr.'s..in fact I have heard he is highly skilled at HT...I have a far bigger concern with a true DOCTOR..whom has no HT skills...than say a D.O. with more experience and happy patients. I am not defendeing anyone here..just stating many "DOCTORS" have chewed peoples heads up just the same......take care.!!!...be careful no matter who it is.. whether a fully recognized Dr. or paperboy.
  9. Alex, The post-operation scalp spray by graftcyte..is supposed to be good..it is the one thing I would have purchased immediately after surgery...but all my grafts came through <without it> and healed properly with no visable marks of any kind anyways....I just paniced a bit when they seemed to dry-out after the 1st week or so.......all ended well.
  10. Hey Alex, You should wait to run at least 10 days..theres a lot going on in your scalp right now, I too had the "all too much fun" forehead swelling..I felt I looked like a baby buffalo/Star Wars allien !!, It went away after a few days, one thing you may consider is using a simple salt water or water/Miture of some sort to mist your scalp, I have heard this helps, I did not do it and seems my scalp dried out a bit ??..check with your Dr....In 4-5 months you will retire your baseball cap collection...Good luck.
  11. Alex, Sounds smooth and similiar to my procedure..I am expecially happy to hear you have a wealth of donor hair. Dont be disappointed at around the 2 month mark..this may be your lowest point, often you get some shedding and are impatient to see the new hair..but in my case the shedded hair 95% came back..and I was looking noticably thicker at around weeks 12-14. Take care !!! Keep us posted. BTW..I too had very little <none?> pain with the anesthia. Guess it varies?
  12. Hey Pat, I love your site, and the educational impact it has on men dealing with MPB...Have you considered a Collumn for a physician, dealing with new procedures, etc..I know there could be liability involved..?? What do you think.?..BTW..You do an excellent job in conveying information to the masses too.

  14. Re: Propecia I am very happy since starting appx 7 months ago, I have had no fall-out..and hair seems a bit stronger..I have had no noticable new growth, but that is o.k...as long as I keep what I have and what I have had transplanted. I have had 2 possible side effects..not necessarily related to propecia...at 1st I started using 2.5 mg's <proscar 5 mg cut in half>...I noticed a minor loss of some body hair <chest area>. And seemed as though I had some knee joint swelling/pain......So I have since went to 1.25 mg proscar quartered daily...at redused doses..both side effects seem to have dis-appeared. My hair however has NOT disappeared.
  15. prior post was a good luck to Headplanet..but hey good luck Arfy too.
  16. Arfy..I like your approach..you have a family member with experience..this is 1st choice..I agree with the thought that a good doctor will do an honest evaluation of your future supply of donar hair...but still be careful, <supply> it seems like the #1 problem with unhappy patients. I waited till 40 but I think 30 is reasonable, any earlier seems to me like a guessing game. I was so happy with my results that I overlooked the unhappy guys...started reading this hair page..and found out the majority of them ran out of hair, But you most likely have a wealth of hair in the back and will be satisfied..and I wish you good results..I do think most of the Dr's quoted on this site have legitimate backgrounds. Hopefully research will take us all into easier solutions. One more thing...stick with the Propecia.
  17. I am all for HT...I had one..and am happy..I just hear of a lot of young guys with big expectations..go through all the donar hair they have then..trauma..I am an advocate of the surgery, but have heard of a lot of guys out of hair...thats all....most of these guys went to Dr's who took all thier $$$ and ran out reserve hair supplies...Overall I love the results you can obtain..and wish all good luck.
  18. If I may mention..it is quite interesting hearing Dr refferals from men whom have had absolutely no HT work done...let alone arguing over who is the best..how would you know ?..however..I do think your father is a great person to trust..I certainly would trust my Pops results ? Of equal importance is be certain you have a great deal of Donar hair for your age..I have observed a lot of unhappy men..had surgery at a young age..hair receeded further and OOOPS!!! no more donar hair...this sets up very disgruntled feelings...then its easy to slam the industry, primarily because you were not the best candidate for HT.
  19. Agree w/gary on skin type etc..I have blue eyes and light skin/hair..so naturally I am prone to more redness..it was nothing that was very noticable..very minor really..only I could tell when I looked closely...it does go away anyways....good luck Gary.
  20. Alex, Awsome research !!! You will have success..I too read "The Bald Truth" and did extensive research..I plan on sharing photo's next month..if you can do the same <photo's>later..just blur out your face or whatever if you need to....6 mo you will look far thicker...good luck !!!
  21. MD I am posting 6 mo results on appx. sept 15 or so..<my post surgery appointment date>..I need to obtain my Dr's photo of me from my original surgery day.. then at that time I am going to post both 6 mo vs. pre-surgery pic's..as for redness I think Pat healed very quickly..I did too..however the redness was there longer for myself, also I did have some small mini's 5 hairs put on my crown for density..may have left redness a bit longer...honestly some are against this.<mini's>..but I personally am happy with the thickness resulting. My Dr. used very small and fine slits for my surgery and I have no sign of any scars in the receipient area. I did have the majority of my transplant folliculer however........so here again depends on who you listen to..!!!..overall..I trust Pats advice..as a person whom has been through it all. I just think my limited amount of small crown mini's turned out nice and added volume. watch for my pic post later in Sept.
