  1. Thanks for calling my attention to this worthy cause. My good friend in Naples, Fla. Dr. Manny Pe???±a volunteers every summer to repair cleft palate defects abroad. I have had an interest, but not had a chance yet. This is a good way to get started helping.
  2. ThininHouston, The bleeding was only an issue during the surgery. Your procedure was completed in a reasonable time but could have been completed a bit sooner. In my experience, bleeders also metabolize the local anesthesia faster. It is nice to do one procedure per day, so when the unexpected occurs, we have all our time and attention to focus on our patient that day.
  3. ThininHouston, Thanks Janna, You are correct! The increased bleeding was an issue that decreased visibility at surgery. It prolonged the procedure a bit, and caused me to pull out my own hair. All the increase obstacles were overcomed by the teams' skills and perseverence. Now you need not worry, the grafts are securely in place and growing happily.
  4. Hello ThininHouston, Althought you cannot be called "thin" any more. You should have started to use the ointment in the packets we gave you on the 4th day post op, about 1-2 hrs before shampooing your hair. That is to moisten the "scabs". I don't think you have much scabbing any way. You can start being more agressive with the shampooing, employing your fingertips and using the shower head to rinse directly, not full force. If you have any questions, please call the office, you have my cell number. We always love hearing from you!
