  1. This 47 year old male with mostly frontal hair loss presented to Dr. Chris Pawlinga in 2004 for his first hair transplant session, and subsequently had a second procedure in 2006. These two sessions totalled 2573 grafts, of which 1980 were FU's and 593 were multi-FU grafts averaging 4-5 hairs apiece. The total number of hairs moved was 7331. He recently had a third session 1354 grafts to finish up, which is not reflected in the photos. The photos shown of the donor scar reflect the result a few years after the second harvest was taken. 2. This 46 y/o female presented to Dr. Christopher Pawlinga at our clinic in December of 2007 for hair restoration surgery. At her first session, she received 1593 FU's, placed across the frontal region, both temples and down her natural left-center part line. Sites were made with 0.8 and 1.0mm lateral slits and 18g solid core needle for the 3-hair FU's. She presented 19 months later, at which time she had her second session for the purpose of adding even more density. The first three photos shown here are her "before" ones, and the remaining ones show the growth from the first session. Suzanne J N.B. I work as the office manager for Saratoga Hair Transplant Center for Drs. Pawlinga and Beehner.
  3. This 59 y/o male had a single transplant session of 1224 grafts in July of 2008 and returned for his second session recently, when these photos were taken of the results from that first surgery. 160 of the grafts were MFU grafts and 1060 were FU's. 4. This 62 year old man presented to Dr. Pawlinga for his first hair transplant procedure one year ago and comes back for his second procedure for additional density. 1527 grafts were placed at that first session (1127 FU's and 400 DFU's) totalling 3603 hairs. DFU grafts of 4-5 hairs each were used in the central portion of his recipient area. His FU's were 40% `1-hairs each and 60% 2-hairs each, with almost no 3-hair FU's. The overall plan is for a total of either two or three sessions. Suzanne J N.B. I work as office manager for Saratoga Hair Transplant Center for Drs. Michael Beehner and Christopher Pawlinga
  5. This 30 y/o male presented to Dr. Chris Pawlinga at our office for hair transplantation 3 years ago, and has undergone 3 transplant procedures of 1153, 1292, and 1304 FU's each time across the hairline and filling in both temples. The total number of hairs he received was 7744. His FU's broke down as follows: 20% 1-hair; 50% 2-hair, 30% 3-hairs. His photos are attached and progress from the "before" photo to one with the lines drawn at the time of his first procedure, and to a recent photo a year after his third procedure. Some close-ups are also included. Suzanne J. N.B. I work as office manager for Saratoga Hair Transplant Center.
  6. This 59 year old woman came to see Doctor Beehner for her first surgery a few years ago and had 1480 FU grafts placed. She now returns for re-evaluation 15 months after that one session, at which time the photos shown here were taken. She is coming back for another similar sized session for additional density. 7. This 35 year old male had his first transplant surgery with Dr. Chris Pawlinga in March of 2008 and subsequently had two more sessions. They were made up of 1426, 2190, and 2200 FU's in the three sessions for a total of 11,734 hairs. His before and after photos are paired up in the photo section. Suzanne N.B. 8. Dr. Pawlinga first treated this 50 year old male patient in January of 2007, placing 1123 grafts (823 FU's and 300 DFU's). His second procedure in February of 2008 included 1277 FU grafts and no DFU's. At each procedure he did "Lucas Procedure" cut-out of some of the large grafts at the hairline. On the day of the photos that are attached here, the patient returned for his final surgery, which was 1084 FU's for further density. Suzanne N.B. 9. Attached here are a few other photos which somehow got cut out when posting the above note. Suzanne
  10. Dr. Chris Pawlinga, who has been practicing hair transplant surgery at our clinic with Dr. Beehner the past five years, is requesting to be considered for "recommended" status on the HTN. Prior to his joining our practice, he completed a full year ISHRS Fellowship under Dr. Beehner's direction. The managing editor of this website encouraged us to submit some photos of Dr. Pawlinga at work and our staff at work as well. They are attached. Dr. Beehner took those photos the other day when Dr. Pawlinga was operating on a light haired brownish-blond man (a couple of photos from that operation, including the graft photos and those of the staff cutting are of this patient). When we got the additional list, which included details about a patient case, we found recent photos from such a case Dr. Pawlinga did and are including them here. The patient with the plan drawn on his head and with the close-up photos is a 27 year old man, whose goal was to fill out the front area where he felt it was too thin. Dr. Pawlinga planted 1325 FU grafts (199 x 1-hair FU's; 662 x 2-hair FU's; 464 x 3-hair FU's) all in the frontal region behind the hairline as drawn. The "after" photos were taken the next morning, when he came in for a hair wash. The 1-hair hairline sites were made with a 20g needle. The rest were made with a 1.0mm lateral slit blade and with an 18g needle for the 3-hair grafts. The patient received a supra-orbital block initially and was moderately sedated with subcutaneous Versed and intramuscular Demerol. Some notes on the photos enclosed: Photo of Dr. Pawliga and one with staff Tina cutting FU grafts under 10x microscope using backlighting Sutured donor area (was cut with single #10 blade) Dr Pawlinga making hairline slits with blade 1,2,3, & 4-hair FU grafts from this patient Grafts being placed by staff and Dr. Pawlinga Staff cutting grafts (2 other microscopes in room also at different sites) Sincerely, Suzanne Jacques Office Manager Saratoga Hair Transplant Center
  11. This 59 year old male from Pennsylvania presented for a hair transplant procedure by Dr. Pawlinga in September of 2009. He came in the other day for a second procedure to add even more density and the photos attached were taken at that time. The sites were made using a 0.9mm lateral slit, and 19g and 18g solid-core needles. He obviously changed his hair style in the interim from when we first saw him. Suzanne J. (Note: I work at Saratoga Hair Transplant Center for Dr. Pawlinga and Dr. Beehner)
  12. This 49 y/o male presented to Dr. Pawlinga in 2007 and over that time has had three procedures totalling 3700 grafts, which includes 3140 FU's and 560 MFU grafts (4-5 hairs each), for a total of 8966 hairs. The patient has said he would like one more session to help fill in the rear vertex area a little bit. These "after" photos are taken around one year since his 3rd procedure. Suzanne J. (I am employed by Saratoga Hair Transplant Center and work for Dr. Pawlinga and Dr. Beehner)
  13. This 42 y/o male presented a few years ago to Dr. Chris Pawlinga for hair transplantation. He had grafts placed many years ago along the front line which he had covered with a wig for some years, and now feels the wig is unnatural looking and would prefer to have transplants. The grafts in front were punched out and recycled into FU grafts. He underwent two HT sessions around 1 year apart. The first was 1349 grafts (924 FU's and 425 DFU's), and the second session was 1236 grafts (983 FU's and 253 DFU's). He now presents for his third session for additional density. The second photo shows him with his previous wig in place. It should be mentioned that he has very fine caliber hair. Suzanne J. (I work as the office manager for Saratoga Hair Transplant Center with Dr. Pawlinga and Dr. Beehner)
  14. This 38 year old male came to Dr. Pawlinga for his first surgery in early 2008. He received a total of 1576 grafts, making up 3790 hairs. 1406 were FU grafts and 280 were DFU grafts. The DFU's were placed in the front-central "core" of the balding area. The photos were taken when he returned 10 months later for his second session. Suzanne J (**Note: I work for Saratoga Hair Transplant Center, for whom Dr. Pawlinga is a staff surgeon)
