1. Hairy, Harry is right. NO SWEAT. Jim
2. Texas, They're not particularly painful, kind of like a teenage zit. Mostly, they're just annoying. You can pop them or just leave them be. I used anti-bacterial ointment on all of them. After a few days, they're gone. Jim
3. I think eventhough we hear things from others, we sometime wonder if they will apply to us. A case in point is ingrown hairs. Having been absolutely infested with them, (I must have had at least 20-25), I kind of felt that maybe I was unique. In my case, I also wondered if they would last far longer than the average, or possibly never subside. Mike Ferko told me that between 3 and 3 1/2 months, they'd be gone. I'm here to tell you that is true. I haven't had one of the little beauties in over 2 weeks (a first). At this point I assume that I may have an occasional visitor, but it appears that the barrage is over. For those of you battling ingrown hairs, trust me, there really is an end and it's damn nice.

5. Topjimmy, The magic number is 15 pics. Put the one that you want last in line, first etc. The very last one inserted will show up first. Beyond 15 pics, everything goes out of order. My site is exactly 15 pics. I've also tried contacting the help desk, but I don't think it exists. At this point, if I can't find anything better, I'm going to have two sites, a BEFORE and an AFTER. I'd love it if Hairlosshelp would correct this, but I don't think it's going to happen. Jim
6. Texas, That's a tough one. I have a close friend who was kind of known for his thick head of hair. He started balding at the age of around 35 years and it became very noticable by 45 years. He's now 55 years and gone! Personally, I would kill for the receded line I had at the age of 19 years. At the time, I thought it was the end of the world. Hopefully, looking at your family history might give you a clue. As I'm sure you're aware though, this is no crystal ball. There is no guarantee. Maybe if you give your receded line a little more time, you won't mind it so much as you get older. On the other had, maybe you could ask your grandfather where he get his "White Topik!" Jim
7. I've got to agree with Vocor1 on this one. After having gone to Dr. Alvi's site, I was amazed (and a little saddened) by the number of younger patients who's hairlines had simply receded and on whom he had performed surgery. Yes, I know the pain of hairline recession at an early age. I at one point (around the age of 19 years) had the early recession, with the remainder of my head full and lush. If proscar had existed back then, I would have been all over it. The point here (and I'm echoing Vocar1) is that the odds are that the baldness will increase and the patients will be back for more. It's rare that a young person will have a receding hairline and not progress. On a side note, an exception is the great former Packer's halfback, Paul Hornung. I saw a biography of him recently. The s.o.b. has the same receded line at the age of 70 years as he did when he was in college!
8. Harry, CONGRATULATIONS on almost making it to the 4 month mark. You're about 2 weeks ahead of me. It's clear that your results will be a nice full hairline. I particulary like the temple work on the right side. GOOD STUFF. Jim
9. Hey There TopJimmy, Thanks for the pics. You are looking very good, nice and full. We are about 1 month apart, I'm 3 months post-op with Dr.Wong, so your progress is of particular interest to me. It's got to be nice having an original hairline. Mine was completely gone by the mid 70s! I do hope the owners of the site correct the problem of keeping pics in order. If not, I'll be releasing my "after" shots as a different site, as the majic number appears to be 15 pics. Jim
10.
quote:
Also the base of the FU's did not look they were flush with the skin. It looked like the hair was coming out of a small bump of skin. nra, This sounds like plugs, or mini/micros to me. If I were you, I wouldn't go there. A properly trimmed and well placed FU wouldn't produce this type of result. The raised look is something that I've been concealing for years, and it's no fun, especially when you find yourself under an "unforgiving" light. I'm optimistic that Dr.Wong's repair work will take care of this. Jim
11. Hi Bob, Thanks for asking. I'm doing quite well and according to Dr.Wong, ahead of schedule. Interestingly, the "Elvis Temples", especially on the right side, appear to be ahead of the rest of my head. Overall, I have good, whispy growth throughout. I'm glad to hear that you're doing well and got that "scab thing" worked out. Take Care, Jim
12. Without question, the value of this site is derived from the content of the posts. Everything else flows from there. We are people sharing real experiences. Unfettered access to these experiences can be invaluable, and for some, help educate. When someone posts that this site is "bogus, what is clear is that person is being nothing more than provocative. What they are looking for is a reaction. Critic was a perfect case in point. Look at all of the attention he received and most agree that his posts were devoid of substance. Others, it is already clear, will be emboldened by Critic's "success". It's my contention that the best way to deal with these inflammatory posters, is to simply ignore them. Don't give them the attention they desire. Let them simply dry up and go away unfulfilled. I for one, don't appreciate the true value and purpose of this site being interrupted. Thank You Pat!

14. Hi Paul, How are you doing my friend? I am more than curious about lipoxidil 1.5 since your last post. Once my transplant is mature (in another 6 months or so) I'm considering giving it a try. I'm presently on Proscar and plan to continue with it. Is that what you have done? How long were you on Proscar before you began the lipoxidil 1.5? Were you ever on lipoxidil 1.5 without Proscar? Whatever details you can offer, I'd appreciate. Thanks. Jim

16. Dude, I'm sorry, I don't remember. His wife used to shop in my store and also answered the phone at the salon with a nice Latin accent. You may want to ask if the original owner is still there because you are looking for information concerning Hair Tranplants on my recommendation. I hope this helps. Let me know how it works out. Jim
17. Hi DUDE, Sorry, I'm not the guy to talk too. I've been cutting my own hair for years because of my "self-consciousness" about my transplants. Both of my kids have been after me for years to get a "real" haircut. I just may once my hair grows in. I know that the owner of "Shampoo 1" in Glastonbury (it may E. Hartford, just over the line) had a transplant. I got to know him years ago because I had a business there . His wife told me that he was thrilled with his results. If he's still there, you may want to contact him. You could say that "Uncle Jim who used to own the record shop in Glastonbury, recommend that I call". He knew my situtation. GOOD LUCK. Jim
18. In case you didn't undersand, by being "selfish" I meant stay on Propecia and don't give blood. GOOD LUCK.
19. Webpro, You don't want the baby looking like Elvis do you? If I were you, I would be selfish. Stay on the propecia and don't worry about it. Jim
20. Paul, Hmmm..a facelift..I'M INTRIGUED. Bolton is about 15 miles northeast of Hartford. We're adjacent to Manchester, which you'll find on most maps. Now that we have our own zip code (we use to share Manchester's), maybe we'll be "arriving" soon. Jim
21. Hairseeker, It's normal. I started developing them at 5 weeks. I'm now 2 1/2 months and they have subsided, but every so often, I get surprised. If mine don't go away within a day or so, and they really get inflammed, I pop them like I was popping a zit. This was on the advise from the doctor. I was told that I was better off to do that than to let them fester. After they are drained, I clean them and apply anti- bacterial ointment. By the next day, they are pretty much gone. Jim
22. Paul, You just sent me crashing man! I figured in another 6 to 8 months I'd look like I did when I was eighteen!! DAMN!!! (maybe if I shaved the beard) Jim THANKS FOR THE PICS.
