  1. I agree with all of that. I’m surprised by some of the earlier comments doubting treatments. We have never had this much attention and excitement in the field. I was at a prominent hair surgeons office last week and told him I’m concerned with future loss despite being on medication and he said within 5 years hair loss will be a thing of the past. I think we are definitely getting close. Do I think everybody will be able to grow a full head of hair on a completely bald scalp within 5 years? Probably not but I think you will be able to keep your hair and bring some hair back. So I think hair transplants might complement medical therapy. I think Dutasteride and finasteride or very effective in sowing things down but if you are genetically predisposition to a NW 6 you will eventually get there it will just take longer. Between HMi-115, GT20029, scube 3, tjusti saying by 2026, stem cell, hair cloning, vetrofin, and pyrilutamide, and all of the other things in the works within 5 years something will pop and be much better than finasteride.
  2. Trust me trying to prevent hair loss. I’m throwing the kitchen sink at it since I was 24. I’m 35 now. I’m on 2.5mg oral Dutasteride and 5mg oral minoxidil and cosmerna. More of my question is if I get a transplant and then something comes out will it interfere with hair transplant.
  3. Appreciate the reply. I’m going to disagree with you on new treatments coming though. I think there will be new products on the market in the near future. There are a ton of drugs that are almost at phase 3. I also think there will be better treatments than finasteride. Finasteride is very effective but I think it slows or halts hair loss it doesn’t stop it forever. If you are destined to be a NW 6 your genes will eventually win out it just takes much longer to get there.
  4. I have been thinking about getting a transplant for quite some time. I know we have heard treatments or cures are coming for the last 30 years, but I am pretty confident that there will many new treatments within 2-5 years based on all of the companies in the pipeline. Do you guys think getting a transplant now will negatively affect your chances of treatments or cures in the future?
  5. Hopefully I don’t have too much more loss. I’m 35 and started finasteride at 24 so I’ve had fairly slow loss. I’m now on Dutasteride and oral minoxidil so hopefully after the procedure I can hold off and other major loss. Do you guys know if those donor numbers I stated earlier are good? I’m not an expert. Any other donor questions I need to ask?
  6. I appreciate the honesty and input and I know what you’re saying. I’m just tired of covering up my hairline and I have more thinning then one thinks in the front and would like to bring down my hairline to frame my face. Here are some pictures that show the thinning and where I want hairline to be.
  7. So I went yesterday to doctor Panine hair surgeon in Chicago. I want to bring down back to my normal hairline or close to it. I don’t know all the hair terminology but they said I am 46 cm from temporal point to temporal point and have 15,000 grafts available for a lifetime and have medium hair characteristics. is this good? What other measurements are needed to determine a good hair transplant result? Thanks!
  8. I’m 35 and Started 1mg finasteride and topical minox at 24. Switched to Dutasteride one year ago and oral minox as I noticed a little thinning
  9. My dad is a NW 6 my brother is 37 no meds and is a nw 4. My mom’s dad is a nw 3 at 95 years old. Yes I am on meds… actually a very aggressive approach which is why I’m shocked I’m still losing hair and have NW 6 miniaturization. I’m on 2.5mg of Dutasteride daily and 5mg of oral minoxidil daily. I also use topical minoxidil probably 4 to 5 times a week.
  10. Need some help and advice please. I am 35 years old and am on Dutasteride and 5mg oral minoxidil daily. I had an appointment with doctor today (not top notch hair doctor) but he seemed knowledgeable. He did microscope on me and said I have class NW 6 miniaturization. I was planning to do a hair transplant this year to square up and bring down hairline a little lower to where it was a year ago and improve recession. Do you think I can still do that or is it too risky to get a transplant when I’m eventually going to become a NW 6? Here are some pictures of the current state of my hair. Any feedback is appreciated.
  11. I appreciate your reply. There are plenty of physicians that prescribe 2.5 mg of Dutasteride. If you don’t have sides and want to preserve your hair then go for it. There are actually controlled studies that show hair count superior at 2.5 mg of Dutasteride over .5mg
  12. Hypothetical question… let’s say somebody appears to have full hair coverage looks like a nw 2 to nw 3 but has miniturizaion throughout but still full head of hair. Say you are 35 years old take Dutasteride 2.5mg and oral minoxidil 5mg daily what are the chances you can hang on to your hair for the next 20 years or does your final hair loss pattern always win out?
  13. Thanks for the reply. If you have fine hair but good to Average donor density can you still achieve a full looking transplant?
  14. You think? It’s weird… seems like when I feel the back of my head and sides it feels thinner than on the top of my head which is thinning. Lots of small little hairs… maybe I just have thin hair… I don’t know… makes me nervous
  15. I’m concerned about my donor… what do you guys think? I feel like it’s not as thick as it once was. I’m 35 and have a hair transplant consultation in a month. You think it’s adequate or do you think I have miniaturization? Bottom one is wet. Thanks
  16. I am 35 year old NW 3 and my crown is starting to thin as well as my other hair. I was on finasteride for for 9 years and switched to Dutasteride .5mg 6 months ago. I also started oral minoxidil 5mg 5 months ago. I do nizoral shampoo 3 times a week. I also added cosmerna to my stack a few days ago. I have definitely lost ground the last 6 months… I must have strong MPB. Anything else I can throw at it? How about vitamins or topical finasteride or Dutasteride? Anything else I can add? Thanks
  17. I know there are tons of scams out there but has anybody tried or heard of Purc oil?
  18. Thanks for the reply. It seems like even NW 7 are getting the illusion of full coverage anymore with adequate density. Based off pictures I have seen from clinics I feel like if you take medication, hair transplants coupled with a little concealer is almost a cure to get back to NW 2 and look like you have a full head of hair. Am I wrong?
  19. I am excited to get a hair transplant in the near future but have never been examined by a hair surgeon. I’m 35 and am a NW 3 and am planning to have a consultation. What percentage of men aren’t candidates for a transplant?
  20. Melvin, I agree that the point of a transplant is to have hair, but if you loose hair in the future and let’s say you have 5000 grafts to work with and you can’t get full coverage and your transplant looks somewhat thin it might look better shaved. Also, if you have a receded hairline and shave your head you won’t like it… but if you have a solid hairline from transplant and then you shave your head it looks way better…. It frames your face and you look like you buzz or shave your head by choice as opposed to you have to because you are balding.

  22. Have any of you that have had an FUE transplant shaved down to stubble or buzzed really low? If so any pictures and how did it look? Can you tell that you have had a transplant? The reason I ask is if I had a transplant in front to have solid hairline and then continued to minorly thin through the back I would like the option of shaving or buzzing head as opposed to getting more procedures in the future. Obviously you would need to make sure your frontal third has hair or else it would look bad and detectable. I always think your head looks good shaved when you have a solid hairline to frame your face so your head doesn’t look as big. Any opinions?
  23. Thanks for the reply’s. Do you think I would be a good candidate based on hair characteristics and donor area?
